Sound Shapes is literally the only game I was hoping would go on sale. Sort of reminds of Bit.Trip, so I'm all in. :bouncy:

I'll probably better understand once I play, but are you not allowed to stop at anytime in the levels? The objective in your video was to collect the blue discs within the time limit, but why wouldn't you pause between platforms? It was your timing that kept killing you. Maybe I'm stating the obvious.
He only had 27 seconds to get 13 notes. He only would have had very minimal time to stop and wait.

I also think that he felt like he was off the pace a few times, so he jumped without much caution. But I may be wrong on that.

Yeah, you're right. I already knew it was timed, but I guess the sense of urgency escaped me because I was only watching it. The final run through where he gets them all had no time left on the clock.

There are few Death Mode levels where you can pause and work on timing. It's basically move non stop and if something gets in your way and kills you or you can't help the shitty timing, then you start over. What lessened the frustration for me when going through these is knowing that it's primarily based on luck and they're not very long at all.

I do appreciate the fact that there was virtually no loading time in between deaths. If there was even a 3 second load between deaths, it looks like it'd be miserable.
Thanks Frisky. Honestly, that doesn't look all that fun. I'll give it a shot though.
It's not necessarily about being fun, as it's a challenge mode built around being difficult and challenging.

The normal campaign is fun to play.

Breakfuss, you have to take an average of at most two seconds to grab each note within the time limit, so you have to rush to each note. They build the level to play off of that pace so that the obstacles fuck around with the pace you want to have.

I wouldn't advise anybody using that video as a review or anything like that because it's not a representation of the normal game. It's a side thing that only masochists and trophy hunters will endure.
Sound Shapes only looks meh to me. The review turned me off to it. If there's a demo though, I'll at least try it.
Well, I watched the Gamespot review, which was pretty positive on it, not sure on other reviews, but I can understand how it wouldn't appeal to many people.
bought MGS HD for the Vita at $17.14, hope there's no regrets!
You won't regret it. I just finished MGS1, and MAN is that game cahRAYzee! If 2+3 are even half as insane as the first one, I'm all in. I'm VERY LTTP on this one, I know, but in the time that MGS came out, I was into other things. Such an amazing game, loved every minute of it.

One thing though: How in the hell did people play this originally? I was finding myself using a FAQ, because there were moments where I'd be puzzled(Psycho Mantis). Should I have called Campbell more often for tips?

You had to move your controller to the second port on the ps1! :)

I played that game so long ago that it was before I found out about faqs on the internet. (they may not have even existed yet I don't know...) and that psycho mantis part freaked my shit out! But not nearly as bad as MGS2 did. You'll know what I mean when you get there.

I'm playing through MGS2 again right now on the MGS HD collection. It must be my 20th playthrough since the game first came out and I can still never bring myself to skip that sequence. :)

Man, I'm conflicted about Sound Shapes. It looks like LocoRoco or PixelJunk in that they are all solid titles, though not amazing ones, and they are more there to bolster Sony's indie cred than anything. I just picked up Retro/Grade and Journey and did not enjoy them as much as I thought I would, so that doesn't help either.

Haha I read that as Link to the Past, took me a minute to figure out what you meant by LTTP.

Anyways, I was actually pretty disappointed in MGS2. I really loved 1, 2 was a pretty big step down in my opinion. That's as far as I am in the series, I hear 3 is pretty good.

2 is at least twice as insane, story wise...whether that's a good thing or not is up to you.
I like the gameplay better too, but the environment is not nearly as good as Shadow Moses island.

3 is the calmest game in the series, story-wise. I mean, it has craziness, but it's more about a particular relationship and what the end of it meant for a particular figure in the series. The gameplay is probably the best in the series.

4 is....ugh. MGS4. The first two chapters are some of the best MGS gameplay ever, then the last 3 chapters have about an hour of gameplay total. it does wrap up everything, and I mean everything, in the series. The cutscenes are out of control though...there are way too many of them and they are not so great.
I'm visiting family so I don't have access to my ps3 or I would check the regular store to see if it is OK or not.

Something is seriously wrong because I can't find Final Fantasy V either. I know I got that for free on 2012/01/31: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/...sy-v-and-more/
Final Fantasy V won't transfer at all, whether it's through the store or system. It's not Vita compatible at all, which sucks.

"so you like suikoden! haha so you save alot." that was so awesome when he read your memory card.

also spoilers ahead for mgs2 but crazy col campbell quotes -
http://www.gabe-e.com/campbell/crazyquotes.shtml

"I hear it amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flapped jaw space with a tunning fork does a raw blink on hari-kari rock. I need scissors! 61!"

"Actually, I am in really bad shape financially. I pay money to my ex-wife as part of our divorce settlement, among other bills... I just had no choise but to make you pay for lunch the other day. I'm really sorry"

that said im gonna skip the vita bundle. great deal/price, but my backlog is too insane and i already own mgs trilogy on ps3 and id rather have the bigscreen/surroundsound/etc. but still wow great deal/price, but i need to try and control myself in 2013. im hoping just the bestbuy preorder games(which end up net positive for me always) and ps+. (and i guess Anarchy Reigns cuz thats a preorder already for a deal :) ) i doubt it will work tho... cag destroys my willpower to not buy more stuff...

Transfarring cloud saves between the two versions is pretty sweet. Play on my PS3 at home and now I'm working on 3 while on vacation.

i had a hard copy of the Vita version, but the trade-in value was about $16 after PUR and 50% boost, so I figured that's close enough and got the PSN version. I'll be playing those MGS2 VR missions + Snake Tales until I'm dead, so I may as well!

3 is fantastic. I'll admit that it doesn't feel like a MGS game. The gameplay is similar to 2 only they made melee combat much more fluid. And the story is easily the least convoluted and actually has emotional depth. 2 & 3 are so good that I'm considering purchasing them again (for the third time) just so I can have them on the vita too.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but MGS2 is my favorite in the series, with 3 being my least favorite. I loved the craziness of MGS2, and beating on extreme was one of my most satisfying gaming experiences ever. 3 just kind of felt boring to me.
Man, that circle flashing in the background constantly to the beat would be so irritating.
You only notice it because you're not playing it, as it's not a distraction in the normal levels.

Was MGS 2 your first MGS game?

It was mine and I agree with him lol >_>

Im gonna get the HD collection soon though and give it another chance and finally play the first.
Got Journey (so glad I finally got to play it, awesome experience), debating on Papa y Yo, praying for Tokyo Jungle to go on sale next week.
Your prayers have been answered! Tokyo Jungle will be on sale tomorrow. $10.49 for PSN members, and $7 for PS+

someone asked what i mean by "clean up" before

well some of the links in the OP link to october and november stuff, and lists them as new.

don't get why we don't just have one topic for new ps+ stuff (new deals, expiring deals), and one for new psn stuff (weekly deals). there's entirely too much material to sift through and it's all over the place

Yeah, I'm the exact opposite. The craziness of 2 was a total turn-off for me, and I'm super excited for 3 because it's been described (here and elsewhere) as the most down-to-earth game in the series.

I'd say it's almost for sure that it will be on sale tomorrow.
Was MGS 2 your first MGS game?
Twas not. I played the first waaaay back in PS days and hated it, so I never bothered with the others on release. Finally got around to playing them this year and love 2, tolerated 3, loved 4, replayed 1 and loved that too. But 2 ends up being my favorite, followed closely by 4.

Quick question. If I have less than what the game costs in my wallet, will it require me to add more money to my wallet, like how the 360 works, or can I just pay the difference with my credit card?

You can pay the difference, as long as the difference is greater than $5. $5 is the minimum that can be added to the wallet, so if you have $4.50 and buy a $7.50 game you'll have to add $5 with $2 left over afterwards. If you have $1.50 and go to buy a $7.50 game it will just add $6 and be done with it.

Maybe he just didn't have batshit expectations of being a total badass. And didn't hate that anyone in Raiden's situation has every fucking right to act like a normal human being?

I'd love to see how you'd all react if that was you.

MGS2 is hated for completely illogical and retarded reasons. Much like Twin Snakes, many hate the changed cutscenes, they were originally created to match the originals, but Kojima told the guy to completely change them. And then when people ask why Twin snakes wasn't in the HD collection Kojima is liek "It's not my/our game!/obvious excuse" Even though he had a large enough say in the game to change parts that make people hate the thing.

If you want a Metal Gear to hate, go hate on Snakes Revenge.
You had to move your controller to the second port on the ps1! :)
oddly enough my first playthrough I never did that (and yes I died alot) on my second playthrough I got a call from campbell and told me to switch ports my mind was blown

i checked out the first post and the Two Worlds sale price for Ps plus has no red star next to it,
so its still going to be $5 till Jan 7th right?
someone asked what i mean by "clean up" before

well some of the links in the OP link to october and november stuff, and lists them as new.

don't get why we don't just have one topic for new ps+ stuff (new deals, expiring deals), and one for new psn stuff (weekly deals). there's entirely too much material to sift through and it's all over the place
I think I see the issue you're talking about, which is that the links in the index are to the old thread because Cheapy is the one that created this thread by just using that thread's OP to make a new thread. I'll update those so you no longer have any issues with the thread needing to be "cleaned up". Thanks for explaining what you meant.

This thread originally just had the deals in it, but due to increased interest in PS+ stuff, that was added to the OP. There used to be a specific PS+ thread, but the OP gave up maintaining it and I started covering it due to the wishes of posters here. I don't see a need to take that stuff out of this thread when it's very much tied to the point of this thread.

Edit: It's fixed now.

Should be good until the 8th at least since it wasn't on the list of PS+ deals ending tomorrow/today.

On the off chance this helps anyone else, be warned that even if you don't have a credit card on file, if you have money in your PSN wallet Sony will go ahead and take that after your free month of plus expires. I was going to buy Journey this morning when I discovered Sony literally took all the money out of my wallet
Where was Tokyo Jungle on sale...?

And how long is Journey on sale until?

Thanks!
Journey's on sale until tomorrow (Monday) afternoon when the PS Store is updated.
