Speaking of games that are difficult just for the sake of being difficult...Mega Man 9 and 10!

But I loved these games when I played them on 360. Hard as heck at some points, but you can get through it with practice. I'll probably just play through on Easy mode for any trophies I can grab since I've already played both on Xbox. Not a bad offering though.

PS - These games would be perfect on the Vita or with Remote Play.
Like Zonic said, no trophies in 9 unfortunately. But I definitely agree, remote play on the Vita would be awesome, or just port them on over! :)
I remember getting the games back when they were released on WiiWare (since I didn't have a PS3 or 360 back then). Wouldn't mind getting them on PSN or XBLA (though I'll take PSN due to the PS3's better D-Pad), so these are nice freebies.

& holy crap, I forgot how hard some of the challenges/trophies were in MM10 (9 doesn't have any, in case people were wondering). Beat the game without using an energy, weapon, or mystery tank, beat the game without taking ANY DAMAGE...
Yeah, the trophy/achievement requirements are strictly for masochists. I was able to complete 9 and 10 by beating all bosses using only the megabuster, I think that was the only challenge I was able to complete.

Any damage? Unless it's not like any other MM I think that's just impossible.

EDIT: Looked it up. "Earned by 63 (5.74%) of 1,098 game owners."

MM9+10 is very cool! There hasn't been a free game I've wanted for over a month now.
(don't take that as complaining about the service, I've bought a crap ton of very discounted games, which I'm very happy about!)

I once did a no-damage run of MM2 when I was a kid... but that was a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing, TBH.

Assuming there aren't any unannounced sales, it's gonna be weird only spending $2.50 on the PSN store this week. I've been spoiled by Holiday Essentials sales.

I'm 1/2 tempted by Eufloria, since I played a PC demo a few years back, but from what I heard, the later stages really drag on, something I noticed on the last stage I played before the demo ended. Anyone wanna vouch? This seems like it's the lowest it'll ever get, but I don't know if I want to get it considering I've got other stuff I need to get to (mainly other PS+ games & an import arriving in the mail).

Nothing for me... Also you can use bass (it's easier) and abuse saves.

I don't get why people are groaning about MM9&10. Sure, EU is getting retail games. But I buy and trade in retail games. Digital-only titles and up being more expensive than retail a lot of the time, so getting stuff like Awesomenauts and MegaMan through PS+ is awesome in my view.

Um...are you talking about on the blog? I don't think anyone here has complained about MM9+10 here.

And if you are talking about the blog, just ignore the comments. Every time you spend a second reading those comments and taking them seriously, your IQ drops a point. Dangerous stuff.

The No Damage trophy can be done on Easy and you can save after every stage (I think even the Wily stages in Easy mode) so it's really just about determination and perseverance rather than skill based.

Interesting, as a single entry action adventure seems to just squeak by at 1st, but as a genre RPG's have easily dominated by a mile with 13% 12% And 10% about more than a third of the votes.

Hey all you disgusting, whiney, self-entitled, negative, gross babies…you know you’re allowed to still buy games at stores if you want, right? 1 or 2 free games a week isn’t the only thing there is. Stop being fat, and go buy a game. You’re all the worst people on Earth.

Hahaha, so awesome.

I would guess a lot of people who voted for either style RPG also voted for Action/Adventure. I am just so glad that both sports categories are losers.

Of course it will probably take 6+ months to notice any changes in the service as a result of this feedback.

I have both on Xbox just to torture myself. I don't think I've even beaten more than two levels in MM9 to be honest. I wasn't even really very good at the game as a kid. I remember beating three bosses in MM3 and being so damned excited haha. Only MM I know I finished was X and X-2

Oh man, I thought I was done with Jetpack Joyride until I noticed I needed clothing too... if I do this again on PS3 I'm definitely buying the 2x coin DLC.

I sold my gameshare slot of MM10, so it might be nice to have back, but I don't know if I care enough to pursue the rest of the trophies...

do u think the dlc for jetpack can be shared?

Mega Man 9 & 10? Great. More frustration. I'll probably be able to defeat maybe 1 or 2 robot masters. Definately not the last stage where you have to go up against all of them in succession.

The only one I ever came close to was ZX on the :ds:

Jetpack for the Vita is such a scam game. It isn't even near possible to get all of the trophies unless you pay for them... I believe $16 is the cost.

Im almost done with vita and cost me zero.

MM10 I liked (have it on WiiWare) because it had an "easy" mode. Forget the name. I was able to nearly beat the game. Not quite, but pretty close, and it was very challenging still, but fun. I tried it in not easy mode and it was utterly insane. As far as I know MM9 doesn't have the easy mode, so I never bothered to get it.

Jetpack is surprisingly fun to play on PS3 (having played it a lot on iOS). I may end up buying the counterfeit machine. Not sure. I would be inclined to do so if it would carry over to my kids accounts (i.e. to sub accounts). Does it?

One thing I saw with Jetpack - when I switch the graphics to large (full screen), it suffered from stuttering lag. I don't know if that was a fluke or what, but I switched it back to "small".
Hahaha, so awesome.

i know there isn't much complaining here, but people complaining in other places about the free games are just the worst.

It's ONE or TWO free games a week. The odds of them picking your favorite game week after week is slim to none. They're not gonna give away BLOPS2, brahs.
Im almost done with vita and cost me zero.
Yeah, I've gotten a few trophies and the ones I don't have definitely seem manageable without spending any money. Maybe you're just not good at the game?
Im almost done with vita and cost me zero.
Same here, got it Friday and played it all weekend. Only missing the "purchase all items" trophies on both the vita and PS3 versions. More than halfway done with buying them all on Vita already, as well. (All gadgets, all vehicle magnets, one gold vehicle upgrade, several jetpacks including gold piggy bank, some clothes).

Btw, I see people mention looking up how many people on PSN have a particular trophy. How do I go about looking that up for a game?

You must not be very good or you must be blowing things out of proportion. I stink at most games (including Jetpack Joyride) but got all but two trophies within a few hours of playtime without paying anything. I did decide to go ahead and buy the counterfeit machine since I was enjoying the game so much (kind of like a tip jar*). I don't know if I will even get all the trophies (since i'm sure i'll get bored soon enough) and i'm sure the purchases help, but for a free game, you do get a significant amount of playtime and enjoyment.

I have not beaten the game. Maybe you really do need to pay to beat the game, but that's only one trophy out of several available.

*The "tip jar" comment and idea is stolen from Giantbomb.com

I'm just not sure what RPGs these people want. There's still a decent amount of RPG stuff coming out of Japan I guess, but not like there's a ton of content available for them to give out, especially since the majority of what we get are PSN games and I can't think of more than a few PSN RPGs (actually 1, Rainbow Moon, which is a SRPG).
Excluding the Classic RPGs, which I can't believe are doing so well. I, for one, don't have any interest in old PSOne and PS2 Classics. I figured I was in the majority here as they pretty much discontinued offering them 100%.

I am glad to see action adventure and platformer doing good, but I'm even happier to see Fighting/Sports/Multiplayer doing so poorly.

I personally would like to see more NEW games come to PS+ day one. It doesn't have to be heavy hitters, but I really enjoyed getting a game like Chronovolt for free. Others like Labyrinth Legends, Knytt Underground, and Oddworld Munch's Oddyssee would be awesome to get. 2nd tier stuff that gonna get looked over by a lot of people.

Entirely unrelated, but I've been messing around with EU's PSN webstore, and I really like it! This needs to make its way over to the US ASAP! I actually thought it would already be here.

Action/Adventure and Platformer are doing good yet everyone in the Blog comments are complaining about Mega Man 9 and 10.

I beat Mega Man 9 although I did get some YouTube help when I made it to Wily's castle. I've had Mega Man 10 forever but still haven't gotten around to it, but I'll 100% that game.

I don't think sports or fighting games belong on PS+ as free stuff. They're niche enough that any fans would own all the games already (although it helps make the rare platinums even rarer because of the larger playbase :D). Multiplayer is different though, since it being available on PS+ ensures that there's enough people playing that the online won't be completely dead. One of these days I really need to get back on RE5 - luckily, my brother gave me the disc version of RE5Gold so I don't actually need to renew PS+ yet.

I think this would be a smart strategy for Sony to do with PS+. There are tons of people (including myself) very hesitant to buy anything (especially Sony published games) for fear that they will be free later on for PS+. If everyone knew that PS+ was mostly going to be free games on day 1, people like myself would more freely buy other stuff. I think a mix of PS+ exclusive titles (or add ons) and day one free games would keep people very interested in the service without taking away from other potential purchases.

I'd even like to see Sony take some of it's retail 2nd tier games that are first party releases and make them PS+ titles day one rather than sending them out to die in the marketplace like they so often do. They have so many good to excellent games that are marketed poorly and don't see well such as Rachet & Clank: FFA, Starhawk, and many more. Having them as PS+ releases day one seems like it could keep a lot of interest in the service and generate a lot of activity for those games.

I'm sure there are tons of reasons Sony is not doing this, though. Most games make the most money on day one, so i'm sure Sony knows what it would lose out on and has calculated all of this out.

Either way, i'm happy with PS+, but Sony definitely needs to address the uncertainty people have over what games will be free, etc. and the sales they may be losing out because of it.

I find it all kind of silly that people complain about free game releases. The retail games alone already pay for the price of a 1 year subscription (if not more).

Now if the new release games were absolute trash I could understand but they're not. It just seems as if people are complaining over Sony not giving them even more than what their subscription price deservers.

Don't forget you could be paying to just play a game online.

The thing is, both games are pretty old (10 is almost 3 years...) and steps "back" for the series. Many people were disappointed that the titles went from 16 bit to 8 bit and others were sad they didn't go HD, though I personally rather see them pull a Spelunker or Ikki Online. Also neither title surpassed the original length, so whats to be surprised about?

It's too bad I wasted $5 on MM10 for 360, but it'll be nice to play it with a decent d-pad.

Is the Sound Shapes DLC worth it? I'm thinking about picking up the game and maybe Tokyo Jungle before the sale ends. Might wait for the PC release (and 75% off sale) of Skullgirls

Did you like Beat School? That's really all there is to the DLC (and level creation packs if you're into that). I really liked it (though I couldn't figure out the final series of loops without help), so it was worth it for me. Also, it's a large amount of silver trophies for cheap as well.

The way you worded it seems like you haven't played the game yet. I'd pick up the game first and see if you like it first. I think the msrp is $1 for each dlc so you can always buy it later. For Tokyo jungle I would highly recommend it if you have any interest in it.
Gee Willikers, thanks. Now if only there was a THREAD that covered everything PLAYSTATION
I'm honestly surprised it took 4 responses before the expected A-hole showed up. Congrats to you!
