About 4 hours into Knytt Underground and digging the experience. It's all about exploration and platform puzzle solving, with funny characters and great style. The world is huge. Should take at least 15 hours to beat, probably 20+ for me. Imho worth $9 for fans of Metroidvania.

Only drawbacks I've encountered so far are you can't customize the controls. The analog stick could use sensitivity adjustments to make tight maneuvers easier. Also wish I could disable the touch screen (playing on Vita) since it's easy to accidentally trigger ball morph.

Pretty unrelated, but has anybody played FIFA on Vita? Best Buy has FIFA 13 on sale for $20 this weekend, I know it's just a reskin of the launch version, but it's pretty much the cheapest I've seen either versions. Reviews seem to be pretty positive in regards to the actual gameplay, but I'm curious if anyone has played it and has any impressions?
I haven't played either version, but thanks for the heads up! Bought it for in-store pickup...I don't have the other version so even if it's mostly a roster update, $20 is a good price for me.

Alright, I know I'm a little late on this and I'm sure its already been discussed here, but.... Guardians of Middle-Earth... what a broken game.

Its fun enough when you can manage to get into a game in under five minutes, and if you're lucky enough to not get a disconnect voiding all your match progress. You could literally play for hours and get nowhere. Would be nice if they made it playable offline... then you could at least actually PLAY the game.

Seriously... I've been trying to play this game for an hour and a half and I've gotten nowhere...

Create a multiplayer game but don't invite anyone. The game will start with just AI opponents.

I really don't get this complaint. I think the max I waited once was six min and I just canceled and searched again. Sure, sometimes I would get put in a match with all AI but I didn't care.

Are you choosing Elite Battleground matches? If so, that's your problem as that won't start unless you have 10 human players. That is also the only game where you could play for hours and get nowhere as the other Battleground matches last for 20 minutes.

Thanks for posting your impressions, apparently not that many people have picked it up. I think I'm going to buy it on Monday (I have the day off) and play it for a while.

No problem. The demo felt really good (as in, right on par with the console versions) and the touchscreen implementations are actually really cool. I scooped up the older version on ebay just now.

True, but the rewards you get are minimal and no trophies (not a trophy whore, but still...)

I have gotten thrown into matches with all AI, and at this point I would prefer that. But waiting 5-10 minutes just to get thrown in a match that disconnects half way through is pretty frustrating. Have that happen to you about 5-6 times in a row and you'll see where I'm coming from. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one... (and no, its not my connection; I play online all the time with no prob whatsoever)

And no, not choosing Elite. I knew that I'd have to wait for all slots to be filled so I figured that would be the longest wait. Just going into Battlegrounds and hitting quick match.

gettinmoney - nice on 5000 trophies man, soon you will be over 9000.

GoME- i never had much trouble waiting, maybe 3-5min max, i waited a bit longer for elite cuz i was gonna try to get 20+ kills with no time limit, but even when game started people would disconnect and on elite it doesnt fill up with ai's, so it would take so much longer if there were only a few real players, so it made the time limit restriction moot. altho i did get the 20+ with 35 kills on elite eventually. i think the patch made it better too with connections in the last few days. i always get a match in 1-3 mins and havnt been disconnected since patch, but i know ymmv. hopefully it fixes up for ya, that would pain me to no end if i couldnt get a good match going, especially after hours of tries.

oh but i was wondering if anyone knows how sony would do that buy ratchet full frontal assault get deadlocked/vita version free. cuz gamefly has it for $16, so i mean, only $4 cheaper, but wondering if as long as you have disk/box, idk how they tell if you got it new/etc. peace all

For those worried about missing the sale prices on Skyrim DLC, they are in the Gamestop system for the same discounted price and can be sold as straight PSN codes. It will be curious to see if they stay discounted after their release on PSN.

What?!? 9000???
Do we have a group on can for GoME? Would make it a lot easier to get matches going.

OK, I give up - how the hell do you download the LBP Valentine's Day Minipack? I couldn't find it on the ridiculously slow and clunky PSN store interface on the PS3 and now I can't find it on the web store either. Search doesn't work and I don't see it in the LBP stuff either.

Poking around in new released I was finally able to find a Cupid costume for the Vita - but not the whole pack... Great job on the search function there Sony.
Looks like we might have a new PSOne Classic confirmed. ESRB recently re-rated Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for PSP & PS3.

This probably means it's not the enhanced PSP port that Japan got if it's on PS3 as well. A shame, since we got Innocent Sin on PSP.
Well that sucks, was hoping to have the remake on the PSP, digitally or physically (preferred).

No massive loss, as I own the PS1 disc, but still is a let down as I would have liked to have a complete version that matched up to the other one...

If you look at the description, it does say that it includes it even though the title says it's just a costume:

Flowers and a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day? What a cop out. Why not make your loved one a special romatic level for them to play through? You can even put flowers and chocolates in it if you get this pack.

Note: To download this costume, you must already own LittleBigPlanet™, LittleBigPlanet™ 2, LittleBigPlanet™ PS Vita or LittleBigPlanet™ Karting.

Cross-Good compatible content:
Costume - LBP, LBP2, LBP PS Vita, LBP Karting
Stickers - LBP, LBP2
Decorations - LBP, LBP2
Objects - LBP, LBP2
Materials - LBP, LBP2

When purchased, this is what appears on my download list:

The first item is the Mini-pack for the PS3 game while the second is the Vita costume, so it's just confusing because they have one title for that Cross Buy content that is a bit misleading if you don't read the description.

We ended up getting Rayman 3 HD, and Beyond Good n Evil HD. I'd heard great things about both games for years, and between them, we spent less than a McD's meal.

Too bad the games don't come with happy meal toys though....

Critter Crunch has been getting steady praise since it was announced to be on sale this week.

how many times are you going to post this, even after it's been answered time and time again?

The first three games are completely different in gameplay styles to the last two games, which includes the battle systems, story progression, and the fact that there are no social linking elements in the earlier games.

re: Persona 2... I've heard 1 and 2 don't have social aspects like 3 and 4. True?
Yes, P1 & P2 play very differently from P3 & P4/G. I'd suggest looking at some gameplay footage on YouTube or reading the gameplay section of this Wiki article to get an understanding of how they're different from the more popular entries in the series.

While I agree that it doesn't have the social links, character interaction, at least in P2:IS, has a very similar feel. You can tell that it is an ancestor of P3 and P4.

Yeah, I think he's hoping someone will laugh and keeps on trying, because everyone knows that when nobody laughs at your joke, you just need to keep repeating it.

Didn't exactly answer my question, Absolutely none of you did. but it's okay. I'll pass because "slightly fun" isn't worth buying a 20 dollar card.

My local best buy sells $10 PSN cards. I picked one up a few days ago for this weeks sale, and have discovered that $1.40 is well worth the asking price of critter crunch. From dust has been pretty fun as well.

Critter Crunch isn't $20, bought it for $1.40 earlier this week I believe, if you have a problem with extra funds sitting on your account then you are in a difficult situation.

Just picked up a physical copy of MK, very impressed with the game, least loading times of any vita game so far, graphics are really fun and the story mode had me entranced all the way through. Then again, I havn't touched MK in over 10 years probably. We will see if the excitement lasts, havn't checked out anything other than the ladder and story so far.

Yep, the price is good just I don't have any smaller cards in my area. No difficult situations, I just don't like keeping extra funds in the account. Oh well. Thanks though.
social aspects are my least favorite part of the persona series, so that's actually a big + for me for picking up 2.
yeah, P1+2 have more emphasis on dungeon crawling and combat.

P3/P4 fans who've found themselves wishing Persona was just a visual novel/dating sim might want to steer clear of P1+2. The gameplay sections might be pretty painful if you're trying to rush to get to the next story section.

wow, i remember persona 1 way back in the day. wasn't that ps1?
i just remember that purple velvet room where you would do monster fusions/synthesis and the piano music and it was creepy. I remember going into battles and trying to talk them into not attacking me or joining me ;) such weird creepy 1st person dungeon crawling tho. and those tarot card monsters you summon/use were strange. oh yeah and the strange gun/melee combat mechanics where you had to reload/etc. and so many school/hospital hall ways that are so generic... good stuff tho.

oh and i gave From Dust a quick playthrough the other night. it was pretty good, but yeah id skip for 7.50. I got to the raging earth level. only a few more levels to go, but i spent a good 2-3 hours kept retrying that level cuz i didnt want to lose any villages for this trophy im going for, so idk, i think im bout done with it. oh and lol, that wave level i said i couldn't pass when i first tried the game was the first level after the tutorial. sometimes i think i just don't try anymore, lol. peace all
Yep, the price is good just I don't have any smaller cards in my area. No difficult situations, I just don't like keeping extra funds in the account. Oh well. Thanks though.
you could always add increments of $5 using a paypal account with the sony website.

if you use paypal. that is.

edit: here's the link to where you can do that. just sign in with your psn info and click the "add funds to wallet" in lower left

The Drop for this week:
PS3

Crysis 3 – Crysis 3 is a First-Person Shooter set within a frightening future New York City. The game is a sequel to the 2011 release, Crysis 2, continuing an unfolding adventure revolving around the symbiotic relationship between the wearer of the game’s iconic nanosuit, the current protagonist, and the memories of an earlier protagonist stored within the suit. Game features include sandbox shooter gameplay that allows players to choose their path, an upgradable nanosuit, expanded multiplayer options, an explosive arsenal of weapons, and improved graphics provided by the CryENGINE game engine.

Urban Trial Freestyle (PS3 & PSVita)

PlayStation Portable

Generation of Chaos 3: Pandora’s Reflection – Dark clouds blanket the withered skies and block out the sun; cracked earth and choking fog rule the land. This colorless world, showing no signs of life, is known as Hades. The barren land is blasted by chilling winds that cut to the bone … This is where we meet our heroes — Yuri, a young girl cursed with a disease draining her life away; and Claude, her protective older brother who will stop at nothing to save her. As they travel in search of a cure, they find themselves embroiled in a conflict that will determine the fate of the world and, just maybe, the fate of the siblings. They’ll lose old friends, meet new friends, and travel on a path that will lead them to the very doorstep of destiny…

Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi – After 260 years of samurai rule, the shogunate’s hold on the country began to weaken as men ostensibly loyal to the emperor began to sow chaos and dissent throughout the nation. The Shinsengumi was formed to combat this rising tide of violence, and to protect the shogun and the people from dangerous ronin. As the country inches close to all-out war, Chizuru travels to Kyoto to find her missing father. She encounters both danger and the Shinsengumi, in quick succession. After learning that the Shinsengumi are also looking for her father, Chizuru goes under their protection. However, they soon find themselves in the midst of political intrigue, supernatural power struggles, and much more as they search desperately for the answer they need.

I have a month of PS+, but I only want to use it when there's more Vita games there.
Then again, I reaaaally want to replay Gravity Rush.
Just started playing wipeout. I don't know whyyyy I thought differently before, but this game is awesome. My initial ambivalence might have had something to do with the basic nature of the gameplay when you first begin, but a few races in and things really get interesting (different upgrades, pods, weapons, etc). I may even enjoy it more than the ps3 version. It's especially engrossing with a pair of good headphones! So, yeah, to anyone who wasn't impressed on the first boot up, give it some time, as it gets really good. I'll now definitely buy Sonic Transformed on vita, as it's proven to me it can be competent home for racers.
Need for speed: Most wanted is very good as well.

Since it's Sony Japan, I hope it's all stuff that will make it's way to the US at some point. (assuming it's anything good). I'm hoping the Monster Hunter rumors are confirmed, I think that would be a big deal for the Vita.

Yeah, I'd kill for a Monster Hunter on the Vita. Playing Portable 3rd felt amazing on it, I'm not sure how much I'm gonna like playing the series on 3DS.
Probably not the best place to post this, but anyone else staying up late to see what Sony is announcing for the Vita?

I probably will just because I don't have to work tomorrow.
It's probably pretty minor to most US Vita owners, but it would be just like Sony's lousy marketing machine to choose to release some incredible news at a time and date like this.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on From Dust. I haven't really got into it yet but I'm pretty sure I'll like it. Thanks again to everyone that offered their impressions of the game. I also snagged Critter Crunch, I just couldn't pass it up at the $1.40 price point. I'm hoping that it's the game that gets my wife comfortable with playing games on the PS3. She's never warmed up to the system like she did the 360 but this is way more her kind of game than mine.

Me neither...President's Day rocks!;)

at least there's Soul Sacrifice either way, and that just looks beautiful.

I had read somewhere not long ago that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would be coming out in Japan the same time as the the 3ds version. it was a rumor but who knows at this point.

On another note did any notice that Valkyria Chronicles 2 was on sale on PSN for $9.99? I saw it on the web store. I didnt remember seeing anything about it. Maybe I just missed it in a post.
I'll be up anyway, hadnt heard of it. Hope theres some good stuff, I want more RPG's
God I hope so. Maybe it is a new model or something.
