I hope its not a "new" model. I wouldnt be complaining if we got that Soul Sacrifice red bundle though....I'd trade my 3G in a heartbeat for it.
While I want the Soul Sacrifice Vita to come to the states as well, I'm willing to bet that there's a 0% chance that this announcement has anything to do with it.

I don't think this announcement will have anything to do with a redesign or new model of the Vita. It just doesn't make sense to me that they'd do anything to interfere with the hype they're building for the 20th. I think they'll reveal some popular Japanese franchises are coming to the Vita, like a Monster Hunter potentially, so that they can increase Vita sales in Japan.
I'm hoping it is Suikoden, Digimon World, or BoF. None of them are really that popular but I really want a translation/new installment.
A new Digimon World was just announced for the 3DS, so I could see it popping up as not a main game they're announcing, but as "And this is also coming to the Vita...."

I wouldn't be surprised to see them finally announce a Vita version of Gran Turismo though.
I had read somewhere not long ago that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would be coming out in Japan the same time as the the 3ds version. it was a rumor but who knows at this point.

On another note did any notice that Valkyria Chronicles 2 was on sale on PSN for $9.99? I saw it on the web store. I didnt remember seeing anything about it. Maybe I just missed it in a post.
That rumor turned out to be false. Capcom confirmed it. (Unless Capcom was doing damage control). Was VC2 on sale or was that a permanent drop? Yep it's permanent.
It's probably pretty minor to most US Vita owners, but it would be just like Sony's lousy marketing machine to choose to release some incredible news at a time and date like this.
The Japanese market is what needs a boost. They are still buying PSPs instead of Vitas.

The ustream for the presentation is up if anyone is interested, but it hasn't started yet. I'm just gonna leave it open in a tab until I hear something. Should start in a couple minutes.

thanks for the reminder

Are those games for free?

Anyway good thing I waited, i for the eventual price cut in the US

Good japan is getting an offical manga reader. Hopefully that will help them.

Damn I want that Blue PS vita

Looks like there's going to be some kind of Torne functionality, which is cool, but only if you're in Japan. Also they're getting a manga reader it looked like?

Now a Phantasy Star trailer.

And apparently a Phantasy Star Online 2 Bundle w/ the Ice Silver Vita.

Whatever turn based rpg that was after Vahella knights, I want that to come to america.

And for god's sake bring a gundam vita over to the states too.

And God Eater 2.

Edit: Just going to post everything on this post so I don't spam.
Whatever turn based rpg that was after Vahella knights, I want that to come to america.

Other than Soul Sacrifice, I have zero interest in any of these games so far.

Still waiting on them to reveal some new games.

Haha I'm the opposite. I look forward to Soul Sacrifice but not that much. I would definitely throw down on vita (haven't bought one yet) if more of these type of games (not anime girls but the turn based games) were coming and Gundam. That's the reason I loved the psp was all the turn based rpgs.

I know that one game is not coming over and probably not Gundam but does anyone know if God Eater 2 is coming outside of Japan?

Finally FFX is coming!

^Yeah, this is definitely directed towards Japan gamers.

Also, the guys on Neogaf are so clever! [sarcasm] It's no wonder I rarely go to that site...

Final Fantasy X HD!!!!.....but it was only character models.

EDIT: So this was a glorified announcement about a Vita price drop? You're fucking killing me Sony! Not a SINGLE new game was mentioned!

I see Sony once again trying to find a way to outdo nintendo on who can fall flat on their face the hardest

FFX, what is this 2 years in the making for a hd makeover?

a direct that had nothing we didn't already know about rotf
The price drop was obvious. I haven't been following the vita so I can understand why it was underwhelming for you guys. I hope the U.S. turns out good.
To be fair, I don't think any of this was ever meant to "WOW" US consumers. And Soul Sacrifice and Dragon's Crown are both games that have been on my radar forever, the only disappointment was that there was nothing new announced.

Pretty surprised they were able to do a price drop at this point when PS3 sales are about to drop and possibly need a price drop.

Well that was all pretty disappointing. But I've come to expect as much from Sony. How hilarious would it be if Sony's big press conference on Wednesday was also just to announce a price drop for the PS3? The internet would probably explode.

I agree with a lot of you here. I mean, Sony had us hyped about this presentation for what? Two hours or so? And that's it? They didn't even promise a single blow job! The whole thing was beyond disappointing. The price cut that everyone's been wanting? Old news! This was their time to reveal all their secrets! But nope, typical Sony, never meeting the expectations I create for them that are based on nothing.

Hell I was just glad to see that they haven't completely shoved the Vita in to a corner over at Sony HQ. Price drop is good. The known releases for the rest of the year, while each one does look pretty awesome, is a really short list. The poor little platform needs support!

That said, is anyone interested in FFX HD? It feels like Square really missed the window of opportunity for that thing - unless it comes out looking like XIII I expect it'll be a huge pile of 'meh' for everyone when it finally lands. They should obviously just divert their remaining company resources to making Final Fantasy Tactics 2 and release it as soon as possible.

I'm really looking forward to FF10 HD, especially since that was the game that got me into the series, but the fact we're NOW getting screenshots, especially since the game was announced at TGS 2011, over a year ago, I just hope we're not looking at a 2014 or beyond release date.
What cracks me up is once the price drop was announced now all of sudden people are waiting till it hits 150 or 100 wtf?
People were also making similar comments when Amazon had that Black Friday bundle that gave Liberation and PSABR for $180.

The only logical way it hits and makes a splash big enough to sell it is if they do a complete over haul and it comes out for the PS4 at launch. Otherwise, it'll come out for a last gen system that already has the original. I'd hate to see them spend all this time on a remake that's outdated before it releases... The other bad option would be if they just smooth out some pixels and call that an HD remake!

Add me to the list of people pleased by Critter Crunch for only $1.40 for PS+. Rather fun game, though it kind of makes me wish feel it was on the Vita, as it'd be great to take on the go & can be fun in short bursts, like most portable puzzle games.

Also, PS+ update! Vanquish (11.6GB) is free tomorrow along with Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X (413MB)!

Nice PS Plus update, I suppose. I wasn't expecting too much flash this week since the announcement on the 20th will (hopefully) overshadow anything else Sony does this week.

I was really hoping for a multi-purchase discount or free PS Plus for the Trials clone.

playstation-plus

I didnt even know sony was doing something yesterday, I only knew/care about the 20th.

but people like to find things to whine about tho so whatever

I've already played Vanquish so I'm a little bummed. I'll probably try out Mega Man though. PS+ has been sort of a dry spell for me lately. I've either had the past few games on other consoles or have already played them. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

And remember guys, Vanquish is NOT a third-person shooter.

Vanquish and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X are actually two quality games everyone should check out if they haven't already.

Very nice~
