And likely the addition of Wallace Wells as a playable character.

Oh yeah, him too. As foretold by the trophies list.

I've only played a couple hours of each, but I don't think you'll be disappointed by either of them.
After trying the demos, Sine Mora and Knytt Underground are definite buys for me.
I figured you'd buy Knytt Underground. I know I'm going to get lost for hours in that game. I love the feeling of exploration that old NES had and the was a flashback. Sine Mora is such a steal for $4.89 and looks beautiful on the Vita.

I am totally blown away by how excellent Knytt Underground is. It's just so good. The world is enormous and incredibly varied, with different parts of the map being very distinct and recognizable. At first I was disappointed that there was no power progression a-la Metroid where you gain abilities that unlock new parts of the map; here everything is open all at once, you just have to figure out how to get in. After playing for a good 8 or 10 hours though I have to say that it really makes for an incredible experience; you can just wander and explore freely, going wherever there are empty spaces on the map and circling round if you hit a dead end.

Yes, 8 or 10 hours. This game is big. I've still only opened up about two-thirds of the map in that time, and I know there are a TON of secret areas I haven't touched (I've found two or three so far but there are many many more). I'm sure it's possible to "win" in less time than I've already spent, if you beeline to objectives and skip over side quests, but man you'd be missing out.

Also of note: the storyline is very weird, and the characters are really full of tropes, but it's still incredibly entertaining. I'm finding myself fascinated by the world and the question of how it became the way it is, and of course science vs. religion is always a fertile germ to grow a world around.

Everyone should try the demo. If you like it even a little bit you should grab the game while it's on sale. The demo gives you a taste, but there's more to the actual game, as you gain a crucial ability:
in chapter 3 your character can switch between being a human with climbing abilities, like in the demo, and a very bouncy ball with relatively realistic physics, allowing for some incredible acrobatic bounces and leaps. It sounds weird, but holy shit is it fun.

Give it a try.

Gahh I have a backlog and fear sine Mora and kyntt will be free through plus in the future, but you guys have almost convinced....

get Sine Mora.
I'm undecided on Knytt and Big Sky Infinity

Sine Mora is a love letter to schmup fans. Incredible bosses, great vibe, great controls -- multiple ships + multiple pilots (subweapons) + multiple power capsules (time slow down, bullet reflection, time rollback) ensure vastly different gameplay (and replay value).

lots of nice to haves-- for example, as soon as you meet a boss you unlock that boss in 'boss trainer' mode, so you can easily practice them. difficultly should appeal to all (story mode on normal isn't particularly difficult, and allows 10 continues + starting on any chapter, while score attack mode on insane offers a massive challenge for the hardcore).

and it controls really, really well. the trophies will requires mastering the game, but that's the kind of schmup this is.

I keep waiting for RollingSkull to chime in and tell everyone how much Sine Mora sucks, but he's probably just a PC gamer and doesn't come into PS3 threads.

I have no opinion, since I don't have it.

^He comes to the XBL thread once in a while to shit on pretty much every indie game except for Shank/Shank2. I don't think I've ever seen him in the PSN thread.

for the life of me I can't get past the level where you have to stay within the trash
for the life of me I can't get past the level where you have to stay within the trash
that run sucks. the only advice I can give is try to hang near the back end of the trash (still staying in it), makes it slightly easier to see where it's going. after blowing up a half dozen times that worked ok for me.
Hmm... tempted to get SF X T for the Vita, especially considering I don't have the DLC for the PS3 version. On the other hand, common sense would tell me that the cart (which I'd rather have for space reasons) can't be too far away from hitting $20. But on the OTHER hand... Capcom has only dropped down UMVC3 to $30 retail after an entire year. Tough call for me.
Following up on my own thought here, but does anyone know if the code that comes with SF X T retail package expires? Since getting the 12 characters as DLC is a big motivation for me in this deal, that would factor in for me whether I should get this in the sale or wait for the retail cart to drop.

Not sure if I should buy any of these....BlazBlue, Dokuro, Knytt, Sine Mora, or Sumioni. I pretty much have enough waiting to be played as it is and I'm a plus subscriber. Prices seem good though.

and I'm done with Sine Mora. pretty short but I guess the fun comes with mastery.
I have $8 to spend before I get $100
should I go for Knytt and Big Sky Infinity (asked this plenty of times but each time I get mixed responses).

was thinking of DW Next or EDF... lol but I guess the $ should go towards P4G

Knytt Underground is great if exploring is something you enjoy. I heard more negative about Big Sky than Knytt Underground.

lol good call! Yeah with MGS HD, AC III, LBP, and Resistance yet to be played I think I'm good for awhile. That's not even counting the Plus stuff I want to play like Jet Grind. Thanks for being the voice of reason!

Buy knytt. Don't play the demo, cuz you just have to do it all over again x.x. But it's great. I'm addicted.

I started playing the demo then after 15-20 minutes I realized I was going to purchase. That was enough gameplay for me to make a decision. I also didn't want to do everything over again. This game takes me back to my younger gaming years it's excellent.

You can easily get over 100 hours of gameplay from P4G. If you want something that will last you a while, get that.

Resistance, while not good, is a very quick clear/platinum if you want to feel better about your backlog. I cranked it out in 2 long train trips myself...

I actually really enjoyed burning skies. Not sure why it gets so much hate. Haven't played the online, but I doubt its horrible or anything. The story actually kept me interested the whole way through and I wanted to know what the hell was going on. Unlike 3...or 2... lol.

Physical backlog seems worse to me. Wastes space on your shelf and the copy itself could be being played by someone else who doesn't buy digital.

Yeah I'm playing Unit 13 and I'm on the last solo mission so Resistance is probably next :). Thanks for the info.

I agree as I did play the demo, I'm not even a 1st person shooter lover but I had fun with what I played and that is why I picked it up. Getting it cheap helped though too.

Yeah I agree, I'm trying to change my ways though too. The dream is to have 2 to 3 games in the backlog at most...someday :)
and I'm done with Sine Mora. pretty short but I guess the fun comes with mastery.
it's definitely about mastery. on normal, you get 10 continues and can restart from later stages -- so sure, you can brute force your way through the levels fairly quickly if that's the goal.

but mastery. oh man. i just S ranked a level on arcade hard. was -not- easy.
now i'm trying to beat arcade on insane w/o pickups (and insane is insane - even enemies you destroy explode in deadly shrapnel)... though i'll likely take a break from this because i'm just not there yet.

but anyway, yea -- if you bull through the game it's not that long (well, 7 long stages, each with several levels and multiple bosses so it's not incredibly short, either) ... but mastery is where it's at. i can easily see this getting more gameplay than any of my other games.

knytt underground. man, i just don't get the love. i was turned off by the demo, but maybe exploration just isn't for me. though i'm half ready to buy it anyway.

i'm at around $27 so far towards the $50. I'd rather not have reason to reach it... though if Asphalt is near $10 next week it might happen whether i want it to or not.

I was burnt out on fps's when I picked it up. Then, I beat it in one sitting in a motel room over night. Was a great ride. And, I havn't played an fps since.

Besides affa, I don't think anyone has said anything bad about Knytt. Definitely go with that, Big Sky Infinity didn't do anything for me.

Only way to do that is stop coming to this (and all other) game sites so you don't learn about sales or interesting games that come out. You can't miss them if you don't know about them :)

Lol, The never ending battle, Gamer vs. Backlog! FIGHT!

On a serious note though I am trying to be a little bit more selective. One good question to ask yourself is "Am I only interested in this because it's cheap?". Even still I doubt I be without something to play anytime soon :)

This mantra has recently hit me. I have so many games in my backlog including FF4 through 9, FFT, Wild Arms, Grandia and other RPGs. Hell, I still have Oblivion, GTA4, Arkham Asylum and City wrapped in plastic.

I think I may have a problem. I can play max 2 hours per week if I'm lucky and some weeks I don't play at all. I will never finish these games EVER. And I bought GTA:SA last week. I probably should just delete this site.

I sense that we are kindred souls. I contemplate quitting CAG and spending money on gaming in general every few months but never do.
Besides affa, I don't think anyone has said anything bad about Knytt. Definitely go with that, Big Sky Infinity didn't do anything for me.
Big Sky Infinity was a big pile of shit to me.
So what exactly is "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Ultimate Edition"? Perhaps the game with all the DLC combined for a discount?
Ultimate Editions on PSN are bundles with the full game with all of the DLC for a bit cheaper than buying them separately.

Just upgraded my PSP firmware for the first time in forever, for the free games.

And now I remember the days when a 4 GB memory stick was considered huge... looks like I have a lot of game-swapping ahead of me. I just wish the PSP games didn't clutter up my PS3 menu so much.

Throw all those PSP games into their own album.

That was my first thought too, but they are all bubbles (you know, how not-yet-installed games show up), and it doesn't seem to allow bubbles to be placed into albums. So now I have a bunch of bubbles between the game disc menu option and my downloaded game albums, heh.

Doh, I foresee having the same future problem.
Lol, The never ending battle, Gamer vs. Backlog! FIGHT!

On a serious note though I am trying to be a little bit more selective. One good question to ask yourself is "Am I only interested in this because it's cheap?". Even still I doubt I be without something to play anytime soon :)
I am being selective. It sometimes feels like cheap games just keep raining down from the sky. I still have Batman AC, Dance Central 3, Portal, Katherine, FFVIII and Suikoden which I got at ridiculously good prices. And now thanks to the GoD sale and this I have 3 Metal Gear games, Bioshock and now Wild Arms, Patapon and Patchwork Heroes. None of them are crap. Obviously not a bad problem to have, but can feel overwhelming.

Fortunately, the launch games for PS4 and the nex xbox are looking super bland so I think I'll have time to catch up.

I hope we get that $20 from the referral program within March. Would be nice to be able to spend it and get $10 back for every 50 spent.

Ditto

Not sure if anyone would be able to answer this, but do PS+ subscriptions expire at midnight on their last day? I have a 1-month code and I'm thinking of using it Tuesday morning to take advantage of a few of the vita PS+ discounts before the store gets updated.

Fast forward 30 days I think it lands on another Tuesday, so if the subscription runs out at 12 midnight, would I theoretically be able to take advantage of any new PS+ discounts announced for that upcoming week starting after the store updates?

I'm sure someone on here knows, but why wouldn't you just start it up Wednesday to save yourself the risk?

If your plus ends while you are playing a game will it kick you out of the game or just when you quit? My plus ends tomorrow and I want to finish bioshock 2.

Because I want to buy a few vita games from the current week's sale using the 50% PS+ discount. They should be good until Tuesday afternoon when PSN usually gets updated so I would activate PS+ and buy them on Tuesday morning.

Basically I'm just trying to increase my potential "weeks of deals" by 1 to maximize the chances of something I want coming up as a PS+ discount.
