Atelier Totori Plus + DLC on PSN right now it seems. A ninja release indeed as I didn't even know it was coming out much less today.

Having played the PS3 version I can say that it's actually quite a good little RPG if you're ok with playing JRPGs with more anime sensibilities.

Good mix of exploration, combat, character interaction and alchemy with multiple endings. You can expect 50+ hours from the game if you're looking to see a good deal of the game.

Check it out if you're a Vita owner looking for an RPG to play.

Very tempted by Persona 2: Innocent Sin being 1/2 off, especially since I've got about $13 in credit. As someone who didn't really get into the remake of the 1st Persona (mainly the dungeon sections), but digs P3 & especially P4/Golden, is it worth it?

Wow a stealth release on a JRPG? Are they trying to kill their own sales lol. Either way I might grab despite the fact I have all 4 on ps3, would push me up to 100$ spent
Platformer with puzzles, BUT with a huge issue. You have to literally play the entire game through more than 3 times to complete it.

And if you don't do something VERY specific (and something you wouldn't even think of doing) at the end, then you play through the entire game (and yes, ALL those times) for the "good" ending.

Watch zero punctuation's review of it before buying. Even if it was free, I'd pass on it.
It is free and so I downloaded it but I'll admit that I would have passed otherwise after seeing that review.
Persona 4 Golden is $29.99 on the PSN.

Edit: The Persona PSP games are half off.
Tempting. I still have a pending order with Amazon.

Any opinion on Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland for the Vita? I wouldn't mind getting it, but I am also tempted to get the either Dead or Alive 5 Plus and/or Silent Hill: Book of Memories.

Edit: I am into anime so that doesn't put me off.

Holy crap. Well, looks like I'll get to $150 this month.

This is great since the last time they were all on sale was right before I got my Vita. I'll likely wait on Persona 4 Golden though, I'd rather have the physical copy with space on my 32gb card already coming at a premium.

Easily the best of the three choices you laid out there in my opinion if you enjoy JRPGs.

I don't have experience with DoA 5(outside of obvious stigmas) but I've played Silent Hill:Book of Memories and found it repetitive and boring.

Oh and if you own a Vita and don't own P4G at $29.99, you're really doing it wrong.

I know right, it's maddening because I want these games to come out to the states and poor sales perpetuated by non-existent marketing like this will simply kill the possible sales figures.

Thank you on for the info. I haven't gotten Persona 4 yet since I am going through Persona 3 Portable and I have just finished playing Final Fantasy 7. My backlog is huge. I might get Atelier Totori Plus since I am in a need to take a break from playing Persona 3 Portable. thank again.

Damn, in a cruel twist of fate, not only does the 25% off Rocketbirds Vita deal for owners of the PS3 version not stack with this sale, it actually looks like it invalidates it at the moment. My only option right now is to buy Rocketbirds Vita for $7.99.

I'd think they'll probably get it fixed so that we can get it for $5.99, but the two deals stacking definitely doesn't look like it's going to happen.

People were JUST speculating whether we'd get Atelier Totori Plus over here, and....what the hell, we don't get an announcement, we get a RELEASE. I really don't care for how Tecmo Koei is handling the franchise, compared to NIS America. When sites like Siliconera, which specializes in Japanese games, doesn't know a game is coming (JRPG lovers), and neither does the target audience, they fail horribly at marketing.

Now the question is - how "exclusive" are those costumes they talk about? Will they be available for purchase later, or will they disappear after that date? If they're exclusive, I can buy it now and that would put me over $50...even if I know I won't play it for years :whistle2:#
hmm. are the Persona (before 4) games at their lowest price?
I remember there was an Atlus sale sometime back...
Yeah, & I recall they were at the same price. Atlus seems to do a sale every few months. Aside from P2: Innocent Sin which is the newest of the games, they've all gotten price drops in the past (I got P3P & P1 when they were on sale for 1/2 off, $20 each years ago). But for the most part, I'm sure these will be the cheapest they'll be until Atlus puts them up for sale again.

yeah rocketbirds only for 7.99 and i bought ps3 version also, hmmmm.

n yeah, i got persona 4 golden for $30 off a guy from cl, wish i would have waited as $30 would have been same price and i would prefer digital and it would stack with spend 50 deal (essentially making it $24) doh. oh wellz. but yeah, get it if you have a vita.
would it be crazy to get a ps3 this late in the game? i already have ps+ and a vita
Considering how cheap you can get a PS3 these days and the fact that you already have PS+, the cost vs content seem to be highly in your favor.

It's not like PS4 is backwards compatible either so I don't see the problem getting a PS3 late into its life cycle.
Is Totori Plus the same exact game as the PS3 version? Is there any reason to buy this if I already have the PS3 version?
It seems the only added content is a bunch of costumes and the nice fact that the DLC characters are just unlocked from the start. If you have it on PS3 and already beat it, I don't see why you'd want to double dip unless you're interested in having the game on the go for a few more playthroughs for different endings and such.

I don't know what you're reading that said Dead or Alive 5 was coming to PS+ this week. They've been very clear about what games were coming to PS+ this month, so there's no reason to think that anything else is coming instead.

As someone who has never played a Persona game, is it better to go with P3P or P4G? I am a little daunted by the sheer number of gameplay elements and I'm having a hard time figuring out which would be a better starting point for a series newbie.

thanks. was thinking of Monster Hunter and Ghosts and Goblins too hmmm

pretty happy that P4G is now $30 though... but now my 32GB is totally filled up
not sure if I should just go for the physical edition... (but the idea of bringing game carts around is... )

bought Lumines and Rayman Origins (Vita) before the sale ended... hope I don't regret it (e.g. them coming to US PS+ soon after.. lol.. afterall Lumines was on EU PS+)

Persona 4 Golden would be the better starting point, as they've done a good job with adding new features to streamline certain aspects of the game and the easier difficulties that are available are good for newbies since they make the combat a bit easier to handle.

Definitely p3p first, though if you don't mind playing on a console, get P3FES - huge section of post-game content - 30+ hours for some. P4G is one of two games I got a Vita for initially, and i'd recommend you play some version of p3 first.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, the mechanics are well-explained and the game may seem daunting at a glance, but really isn't so complex. Even so, I think P4G feels like a much more complete game; P3P has some shortcomings from having been a PSP release.

Atelier Totori was a nice surprise this week. I told myself I'd buy it when it came out, but I expected a Fall or Winter release date. Definitely buying this, totaling up to $60 spent this month. Might actually get to $100 by the end of the month. :bouncy:

Do you like fetch quests? Because that's all it is.

I think that's an gross over simplification.

It's like saying Borderlands is just about shooting dudes.

I already commented on what I thought about Totori having played it on PS3 if you want to take a look but long story short, I recommend it to JRPG fans in general.

No substantial PS2 price drops? Dues need to be paid! Seriously though, the Capcom PSP deals are impressive.

Is Darkstalkers: Chaos Towers worthy of a play?

I'm just more or less curious if theres a chance for a physical release still. Overall, just seems odd they literally just ninja'd the game on to the store. Swear my wallet is getting killed this week

The add-ons for Totori Plus still seem worth it though, plus that free DLC that looks to be exclusive to launch (It was in Japan according to sites)

Sad to see digital copies of DoA 5 + don't get the cheerleader costume. Not saying I am a perv, just got to love freebies. Does anyone know if the paradise bundle is messed up? It says I purchased that one, yet I don't have paradise, nor do I have it in my download listing or is it listed for free. Also the game install size is 1:1 with the standard Vita game.
I don't know what you're reading that said Dead or Alive 5 was coming to PS+ this week. They've been very clear about what games were coming to PS+ this month, so there's no reason to think that anything else is coming instead.
He was thinking of PS+ Europe. They got it for free this week, which I honestly am surprised by since it only came out in November, I think. Not to be confused with the updated version just released for Vita.
It might be a good idea for those that want to get The Cave as quickly as possible to start downloading the demo now so you can just grab the unlock key when the PS Store is updated.
Am I missing a strategic move? Is there any signifcant benefit/planning/glitch by doing this?
Persona 4 Golden would be the better starting point, as they've done a good job with adding new features to streamline certain aspects of the game and the easier difficulties that are available are good for newbies since they make the combat a bit easier to handle.
With respect, I disagree. Persona 3 is my first and only Persona game, however it's an amazing entry to the series and well worth the $10 price of admission. Hell, It's one of a handful of games I'd pay $50 for and be very, very happy about.

Yup, it's free with EU plus and was assumed to be the fighting game that turned into Tekken 6 this month.
Actually it came out in September and not really that shocking. Sales have been fairly low and MSRP is like $30 dollars at the moment. We've already seen @gamer discount it down to like $20 (maybe less), so it's quite similar to Spec Ops in this regard. They probably gave it away to get hype for the Vita version and more importantly have an active online for it. Lot easier to sell the Vita version when someone is playing, than when no one is xD.

Glitch? Wow... it's just common sense. If you really want to play, it's faster to download the game (demo) prior and then get the key when the store updates. This way you will have most of it done prior to Sony updating the store and will leave you with a file under 1 mb to download vs 1.2 gb or whatever.

Was it really $20 with an @Gamer coupon? I think you're thinking of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which is on sale for $20 with coupon. Everyone seems to be confusing Tekken with DOA and vice-versa. Doesn't matter - the fighting games renaissance seems to be over now.

I never said Persona 3 Portable was a bad game nor a bad place to start nor not worth the $10.

Either game would be perfectly fine for newcomers, but I think Persona 4 Golden would be a better place to start since I've played both and have seen what both bring to the table.

Ok. Just checking. I actually just like the demo and unlock key next to each other in my download list. I also download in background while shopping, lol.
Anyone have opinions for the psp port of persona 2?
I liked what I played of it. While it isn't P3, you can tell it is its ancestor. It has its share of quirky main characters.
