Right, might not be too bad if it didn't have that bloody sixaxis control in it, but it does so it is a chore to play.

Good thing I bought Shank early this morning. Pondered about DeathSpank, but the gameplay vids didn't sway me enough. Spent it on Tetris instead.

Everything that's on sale besides the Boost Specials pack.

I'm definitely getting Burnout Paradise and a few of the DLC since I enjoyed getting back into it with the free version on UK PS+. Getting all of the stuff I wanted (Game + BSI + Legendary Pack) on sale makes it a great deal.

Chrono has it nailed about the PSN issues. Yesterday I picked up Shank, Fancy Pants, and Spare Parts before the sales ended and, my goodness, did it take forever to download. Unfortunately, I'm used to it with PS3 despite my computer, 360, and iPad downloading at 2-3x the speed on the same network.

The entire PSN infrastructure is just painfully and unnecessarily frustrating. My brother-in-law and I both got Dead Nation as one of our freebies and it seemed like it would be a great co-op game. Aside from the lack of party chat it would consistently take exactly 2 tries to get the game to allow us to keep the connection despite the quality bar being the maximum possible. It's a great game once you get connected but it takes twice as long as it should to do so.

I still love to have my PS3 for the exclusives but I just can't help but get annoyed with it after using my 360. Slow downloads, no integrated game stores, constant updates, no party chat, the fact that trophies have to be constantly synced just to view a gamer card, and, my biggest issue, the lack of game installations to the hard drive.

For as much heat as the 360 gets for fan noise it's really the opposite for me. I install everything on my old Elite 360 and I never hear it. On the other hand, my 60GB fat PS3 revs the fan to max when even just downloading games. It sounds awful and could be alleviated if full game installs were allowed. With the massive hard drives we can put in I don't see why we can't.

Anyway, don't mean to rant. I do love my PS3 exclusives, the blu-ray, media abilities, and PS+ is awesome. It just struck me a bit what Chrono said. Let's keep the good deals coming...

Finally a Burnout sale! And I was just playing Asphalt on my phone today thinking "I really should play a good racer instead, like Burnout".

Wish Darkstalkers was PS3 compatible and not just for PSP. It's a great idea (all the versions of all the characters available at once) but the PSP pad is just soooo bad for fighters. Really hope once the PSP -> PS3 program gets going this and especially SF Alpha 3 Max get PS3 editions to use an arcade stick.

Incredible price on Burnout (my favorite racing game this generation) and Big Surf Island! I've been waiting for BSI for a couple of years now as I just knew it was eventually going to get this cheap. I'm definitely going to pick it up now. If anyone wants to do online for it let me know. The co-op missions are awesome in this game.
Not worth it. Game is amazingly terrible. Like painfully bad. I only got it 'cause it was free.
This is why I wish you could delete games from your trophy list.

I played it for ten minutes and never played it again.

I'm not even a weird OCD trophy freak, I just want that game off my list. Takes long enough to load as is.

I don't know if regions are different, but the store is usually always pretty fast for me.

Yesterday I downloaded a 500+ MB game in 6 minutes. So not lighting fast, but I wouldn't say that's slow.

I'm from Canada though, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

The Bomberman Ultra demo was insanely fun, despite being insanely limited. My friend and I spent well over an hour playing the same level with a 2 minute time limit over and over. The only reason why we stopped was because it was getting late.

I should definitely check out the full version.

Effective until next Tuesday

It also has the Time Savers Pack, as those two packs also come with the main game when you purchase it.

Thanks for the info Tanuki.
Was there any explanation as to why the JPN PS1 games aren't $3 for PS+ users anymore?
There was no official word AFAIK.
How's the DLC for Burnout and Hot Pursuit? Haven't played either for quite a while, but I might go back for more if the DLC's good.
Burnout Paradise:
Party pack = dumb, only get it for easy trophies. It is an offline only pass the controller, complete a single challenge gameplay. IE "go against traffic for as long as possible" or "do a jump." Whoever does the best wins.

Big Surf Island = awesome, best DLC IMO as it opens a new island with tons of jumps and areas to explore. If you play mostly single player this is the DLC to get. Through big surf island challenges you can also unlock toy versions of the 4 legendary cars without having to purchase the legendary or toy car pack. You can also unlock 5 other cars: 2 doom buggies, hummer, diamond studded stunt car, and a very fast street rod. So big surf island can scratch your toy car fix and your legendary car fix if you only want to buy one DLC.

Cops and robbers = meh, it's implemented really weakly as nothing is randomized (gold start locations, hideout locations, etc.), adds online gameplay mode for team robber to fetch gold and take it back to "hideout" while team cops have to wreck them. Adds Cop car skin option to 30+ vehicles.

Toy cars = 9 miniature versions of many of the popular cars, these are excellent stunt cars and are quite fun to drive.

*boost special (included with the $8 game bundle that is on sale) = decent, 2 cars, one which is the fastest vehicle with a boost that cannot be shut off when activated and the other can cycle the 3 boost types (speed, aggression, stunt).

Legendary cars = 4 cars "inspired" by famous vehicles. A knock-off of the ghostbusters wagon, the back to the future delorian (fun to drive as it can hover), the knight rider 2008 TV remake car (not the 1980's true KITT...the horror), and the dukes of hazard general lee. If you have the desire to drive any of the those vehicles, then it is worth a pick-up. Toy versions can be acquired with the big surf island DLC.

So definitely get:
Big Surf Island

recommended:
Toy car

Pick depending on your tastes:
Legendary car
boost special

skip:
party pack
cops and robbers (unless you plan to play online a lot)

Also IMPORTANT FOR OWNERS OF DISC VERSION OF BURNOUT PARADISE
The digital version of burnout paradise does not use the same save file as the disc version so you cannot purchase the digital version and then sell off your disc version without starting a new save file. Not a big deal if you are not very far in but can be a deal breaker if you are dozens of hours in already.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up. Was considering it but I'm quite far in already (last reset of all races I think).

I was going to do this also, good thing I didnt.

FYI, don't know if this got fixed ... but I know if you play Burnout Paradise online with anyone who has PS Plus ... you will likely lose all of your single player game progress.

Don't let this deter you from getting the game, as it is great and one of my favorites ... just backup your save game data before going online and then restore it if you lose your progress after playing online.

So if you have PS+ then is this something you dont need to worry about?

Anyone buy the Sonic Birthday Bundle? For the price considering the price of the individual games I really might just bite for the collection purposes and maybe to run through for some trophies.

I have this game in the backlog. Looks like now is the time to grab some DLC and play some Burnout: Paradise.

Nice price on Big Surf Island!

@el swordo (below me)
The game by itself shows up as $20 but the "bundle" shows up as $7.99 (which includes the full game). Click view all by title --> then burnout paradise --> and you can see both in a side by side comparison.

Actually, it has to do with the choice of avatar ... if you have a premium PSN avatar or you play with anyone online who has a premium avatar, you will likely lose your career progress. It happened to me twice this year. I had been at 100%, but had my career reset to 0.

Even PS Plus users are affected.

Argh, I'm $.81 short for all the Burnout DLC and I vowed to never give Sony my CC info again. Time to make a trip to Target for a $20 card.

If you care about that kind of stuff, all the Burnout DLC on sale has trophies (except for the Time Savers). I've been waiting on this stuff to go on sale forever.

Ok I am getting confused on what comes with the burnout paradise bundle the more I read the posts. What does not come with the bundle? Big surf island, and cops and robbers?

OK, I just bought the bundle from psn. The bundle comes with the game and two dlc packs:

Time savers pack
Boost special

So don't buy this dlc if you are buying the bundle!
