That is not a puzzle game. That is a game where you have to carry out the correct procedures in the correct order using the correct item. Need to cut a rope? Oh sorry, that axe won't work. Oh no, that hacksaw isn't going to work either. Oh nope, that lit torch isn't going to work. Ah yes, the gardening sheers. Literally the only thing that can cut a rope in the entire universe. Using an adventure game to determine someone's puzzling ability is like using a thermometer to figure out which direction the wind is blowing.

Adventure games are the absolute ing worst. They're not games, they're more like recipes, you just have to follow a step by step order. I wish they never existed. They don't belong in the video game genre. They're a waste of everyone's time. I'm buying 3 of them from this sale.

You can probably get 99 cents of fun out of Retro City Rampage, the references are neat but the gameplay itself is pretty poor. Particularly the "side" missions where the gameplay changes to a different style which is often poorly implemented.

I will probably end up buying a lot of these PS1 games before the end of the sale.

If you like feeling good about yourself when you see that you're high up on leaderboards, Retro/Grade is a great game for that since nobody bought it, so decent scores will easily put you in the Top 100 or so or even higher if you play it with a guitar.

It's probably a toss-up between Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max The Devil's Playground, or Back to the Future depending on whether you have any affinity for the IPs involved. BTTF and Sam & Max are better made for newbies to the genre.

Bought Braid, Spyro 1-3, Sam & Max 3, Monkey Island, Retro Grade, Retro City Rampage, Plants vs Zombies, Tokyo Jungle. Still have a few bucks left over. Phew. What a sale. I wish Sam and Max 1 and 2 were part of this. My hard drive is really running out of space, and I had to unhook my computer from the crappy internet I have. At least I didn't buy Back to the Future (own it on disc) and Jurassic Park. That would've been hell.
