That list of rare minor glitches for TLOU is fucking hilarious, because it's so off the mark. Ellie setting off a trip wire in one person's playthrough does not mean there is 'shit AI'. A rare glitch here or there doesn't ruin a game, and the suggestion TLOU is some sort of bug ridden mess is just turd tier trolling.

Every single video I made was repeatable, and all of them happened in the PS3 version as well. I gave the PS4 version a shot because I figured they would have fixed things like that, but nope. Hell, I stopped even bothering to record stuff like that after a certain point because it was just beating a dead horse.

The AI really is awful, though, which wouldn't be as huge of a deal if you didn't have to deal with the AI for pretty much the entire game. They constantly freak out and run back and forth between cover spots for no reason, and even worse, can obstruct the player character's movement. Thankfully, they can't be spotted by enemies and are functionally invincible other than getting grabbed, but it's still extremely annoying.

Really, the obvious spawns/despawns and scripted stealth-breaking triggers were the absolute worst part of the game, and they're all over it.

Months ago there was a "starter pack" in a 2K bundle that had skins and currency. It's been super obvious ever since its flop of a launch that a F2P transition is incoming. In fact, it already had a very F2P structure to begin with.

Really glad to see Super Mega Baseball 2 is happening, and the characters aren't ridiculously hideous anymore.

Yea, I remember that humble bundle as well.

Also, it wasn't originally an F2P structure.

The currency and microtransactions weren't added till June, which pissed me right off since I liked some of the skins.

Battleborn going F2P wouldn't surprise me in the least. I only played the demo. But going by that, Overwatch was just so superior (at least in fun factor IMO) to it that BB had no chance.

Really was all about timing. If Battleborn had come out six months earlier, who knows? It might have done OK. But still think Overwatch would have taken over.

Well, the funny thing is they marketed it all wrong IMHO.

They pushed it as a MOBA when it really isn't one, it has MOBA elements but the levels are more varied and fun. I honestly loved the campaign.

 
I played through the Dragon Quest Builders demo.  The beginning tutorial is too slow and I want to smack whoever decided that circle is the jump button, but it has potential if the build and quest trees are deep enough.

As an example, I know many people who hate the Godfather movies or they found it too boring so they stopped watching it. But many critics think that the Godfather/Godfather II are the greatest films ever made. Anyhow, I just wanted to throw my two cents in about the Last of Us since others are talking about it.

To be fair the problem with both persona and trails is that there is actually very little story content to gameplay ratio and the pacing is complete and utter shit and often times shot to hell for no reason other than the game says there's a storm so you have to do nothing for 3 days. Not like the stories in either of those games are all that great to begin with but the horrid pacing does them no favors. Especially if you aren't interested in doing the social links aspects as thats a large portion of the games p3/4 and coldsteel wise. The other half being sidequests.

Another issue is the trails series is telling an overarching story across 8+ games and 2 of them wern't even localized with 2 more on the way so were missing considerably large chunks of the story as is, many parts of the world building is done via updating npc dialogue and the series has no end in sight.

Yea, I love the Legend of Heroes series back when it was "Dragon Slayer" but at the time it had the pace of a 16bit RPG
The new games, take forever and like Persona feel like a life simulator more than an RPG.

Maybe I've just become Jaded. I love games with narrative and reason, I hate things like Minecraft where there really is no direction. I am very ADHD, and when I can have something that focuses and holds my attention I enjoy it.. but it needs a decent narrative or strong gameplay or a mix there of.

Not just, see how many people you can kill in a given time period (People dicking around in Saint's Row, GTA or other open world games), or constant hold out/horde mode. I get bored fast and look for something to focus my attention on.

Back in the 90s, I played (almost) every state side released RPG from the SNES through the PS1 (save for Suikoden 1 and 2.... long story), I honestly never got the Phantasy Stars (couldn't get ahold of them, 4 was like $100), and I did play the few Saturn and Turbo Duo offerings. Then I felt burned out by the PS2, as if I've seen and played all the variations of a "Hero's Story" and many of the gimmicks added, drove me nuts. Stuff like Shadow Heart's malice meter, or how in Persona 3 you characters go fatigued and couldn't be used for a few days...

The part that bothers me most is they make it so that the amount of time you have is so limited that you can't get all social links and such done without following a step by step guide.  Its like they want you to pretend its a high school/dating sim but don't want to go any further than window dressing with it as a recurring theme.   Ignoring the time limits wouldn't be an issue if half the game wasn't skipped over or social links wern't locked out all the time.  mc spends days or weeks in the hospital.  or you go on vacation numerous times and do absolutely NOTHING.  Ignoring that in real life you can spend time with more than one friend.  People go on group outings you know.

They fixed that issue along with the social links reversing alot in the enhanced releases.  Characters getting sick and thus can't be used is avoidable though since all you have to do is not let them get to that point.  Just don't take fatigued characters with you when you dungeon spenlunking and you're good. You can even avoid fatigue for the most part by abusing the dungeon commands where you sick them on enemies.  Since they only get fatigued from taking damage during normal combat while I don't think I've ever encountered them getting tired from field combat. And the field combat bypasses all weaknesses and such as an extra bonus so you don't have to worry about a dungeon floor having enemies that hit their weaknesses or are immune to their options.  Plus you can just stand near them and heal as needed which is broken as hell.

On that note I was really disappointed they took out the field commands in 4 on.  It was a very useful feature.  Would be even sweeter if your announcer/reserve party members could function like you do but in combat.

The part that bothers me most is they make it so that the amount of time you have is so limited that you can't get all social links and such done without following a step by step guide. Its like they want you to pretend its a high school/dating sim but don't want to go any further than window dressing with it as a recurring theme. Ignoring the time limits wouldn't be an issue if half the game wasn't skipped over or social links wern't locked out all the time. mc spends days or weeks in the hospital. or you go on vacation numerous times and do absolutely NOTHING. Ignoring that in real life you can spend time with more than one friend. People go on group outings you know.

They fixed that issue along with the social links reversing alot in the enhanced releases. Characters getting sick and thus can't be used is avoidable though since all you have to do is not let them get to that point. Just don't take fatigued characters with you when you dungeon spenlunking and you're good. You can even avoid fatigue for the most part by abusing the dungeon commands where you sick them on enemies. Since they only get fatigued from taking damage during normal combat while I don't think I've ever encountered them getting tired from field combat. And the field combat bypasses all weaknesses and such as an extra bonus so you don't have to worry about a dungeon floor having enemies that hit their weaknesses or are immune to their options. Plus you can just stand near them and heal as needed which is broken as hell.

I've gotten pretty far in the game, but yea it's always in my nature to fight for as long as I can.

I thought fatigue happened just by them being in the dungeon.. when you say re-releases do you mean the PSP version, or the PS3 which I thought was just a 1 for 1 port of 3 + FES.

 
Relatively happy with the October line-up overall, extremely pleased with the PS4 line-up (factoring out Capcom nonsense posted below). I guess this is supposed to be the "let's show off that Plus is actually worth it" month.

Interesting to see heavier Ubisoft support of the service, though they are big on making console versions of their games cheap and PS3 lacks BC so it's not like the titles are flying off the shelves anyway.

Only game of the 6 I'm disappointed by is Actual Sunlight. But we've gotten worse games, I think.

Grabbed the Virginia demo in hopes we get another Blue Rider scenario but it's probably unlikely.

Not sure when you met him, but he just gives off this real douchebag vibe since he's come out into the spotlight again. Double Fine's yet to redeem themselves for Spacebase, Fandango Remastered (at least on PC) and arguably Broken Age imo, and there's the whole shadiness with the Psychonauts 2 kickstarter. Just seems like San Fran got to him (99% sure that's where Double Fine is/was located).

Same here. My only complaint outside of Actual Sunlight is that once again, it feels kind of scummy to wring some last-minute sales out of a PS+ title without any forewarning. That said, it didn't cost me nearly as much money as Amnesia did and there was a larger time gap, but you know they knew they were making it "free" when they bundled. I'm just glad it wasn't RE0.. yet.

Also, my extra RE PS4 code is probably worthless now. :wall:

Because a good amount of titles for Vita are VNs because most support for the platform comes from Japan?

No point bitching about weeb things on a weeb platform. I'm not even the biggest fan of VNs either, but it's obvious these particular VNs probably aren't selling much to begin with, so Sony can get them as "freebies" for a pittance. Same with that cheap Sunlight game.

This comment really rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Is it just me? Seems (unintentionally) condescending.

P.S. The Last of Us is overrated, at least critically (it undeservedly swept the DICE Awards, for example) similar to most "Oscar bait"

But that doesn't mean it's awful or anything, even if I'm still annoyed by the obvious downgrade that happened after its E3 announcement.

Yeah, Vita is pretty much a niche platform. It may have had some mainstream support at the beginning, but most of the support for it now is for niche titles, and most of us that're still buying games for it are fine with that. As for why you're getting these VNs as PS+ freebies.. Bobby stated why. It's because otome VNs don't sell well, they don't have much of a consumer base in the west. It's why you're seeing stuff like Code:Realize and Amnesia being free rather than more popular VNs like Steins;Gate or Danganronpa.

I don't know why anyone would complain that Vita is getting niche games. Sony abandoned it, what exactly do you expect..

I don't see why it will be obsolete soon. There is going to be a season 2. Maybe more. It's a fun game and perty, but I'm no SF expert. I don't need the coupon as I bought the game on disc. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have it as a download, but I already have the game. Can't justify the expense.

I have no idea if anyone used it or not.

it's supposed to be great, but know you're getting involved in a complex crafting/puzzle game. you run around the prison, look for gear, craft weapons and other stuff... you need to pay attention to where you're supposed to be [it is prison afterall] so the guards don't get upset with you, but have enough 'free time' to figure out a way to escape. it's well loved by those who get into it, though it didn't click for me and i need to give it another chance.

Just because a glitch is repeatable doesn't mean it's common nor a real issue.

I disagree the AI is 'awful'. Sure, friendly AI looks odd sometimes since it's trying to balance your position with enemy positions to both be out of the way yet helpful, which proves to be almost impossible. But big deal. It doesn't affect the gameplay. There is no easy way to do companion AI - it has to live in this shadow world where it can't affect gameplay too much, but has to react to player movement in a very difficult way [enemies can just alert and attack, but stealth companion AI needs to figure out a way to 'stay stealth' in a complex system, which is borderline impossible at times].

'Obvious spawns' exist in tons of games, from Call of Duty to D*Souls. Big deal. It's a design choice -- placing specific enemies/events allows a more tightly crafted game, but comes with its own disadvantages. It's not something I'd criticize a game over.

You're making mountains out of molehills. There's a reason most people looked past these issues and love the game.

I'm hoping for controller layout options in the release. From what I played it is fun so I'll grab the PS4 disc version and wait for a vita sale.
