It was free with PS+ for PS3 and it is Cross-Buy so yes we all should most likely own Journey on the PS4.

Which leads me to the fact that I own all the PS+ lineup (minus the ps3 titles that I never play since that console is boxed up somewhere) on some platform or another. Kind of bummed about that but at least the titles offered are good games. I really enjoyed Lords of the Fallen on X1. Not nearly up to the caliber of Dark Souls but still was a lot of fun. Felt like a mix of Dark Souls but with a more realistic Darksiders vibe.

Oh well, back to just hoping every Tuesday that we see a sale on Digimon, Persona or Disgaea again!

This is a pretty good month. Finally get to play Journey after all this time. LotF sounds good too even though it is a bargain bin title now and apparently not as good as Soulsborne series.

I was expecting a lot more though since they announced the price hike. It is better than what we usually get, but still under what we should have gotten.

 
Anyone tried Dangerous Golf? Sounds like another "I Am Bread" but it still interests me. Wish those devs would just find a way to make Burnout 3 in HD.

What an underwhelming month after the price bump. My expectations weren't that high and I'm still disappointed. I figured they'd at least try to justify it so it wouldn't look so obvious that they had us over a barrel.

Not to mention furious that I bought Amnesia during the Flash Sale recently. Definitely requesting a refund, what a load of shit. Will report how that goes.

Lords of the Fallen was GWG. It's sad that PS+ is now getting GWG's leftovers when it used to almost always be the other way around...

I'm actually kinda happy about these game choices. I had "purchased" Lords of the Fallen for  :xb1: but never ended up getting one. Journey looks interesting as well. As a new :ps4: owner, I am pleased so far.

 
Have no idea what Badlands is, just clicked into it and the screenshots look pretty nice. Would look even better on my Vita.

This is IMO a really great month for PS+.  Two actual Vita games rather than one Vita and one PSP game (though I don't mind PSP games at all).  Resistance paid off as well... as I don't own any of the games (well other than Journey in which I own the PS3 version in physical form).  I had considered Amnesia during the last sale but passed on it because I'm still not even sure if I would enjoy an otome (dating sim where you are the girl).  I guess now I can find out before venturing deeper into the genre and committing $$ to it.

Well, Badland is a port of a mobile game. A good mobile game, but still not what I would consider a "real" Vita game. (Ironically, Amnesia was ported the other way around to mobile)

I'm one of the cheap people that don't also feel entitled. If a place has a policy that is their business but we are talking about getting money back that isn't deserved nor was it promised. They give money back because to them it's more cost effective to throw the couple bucks back at the whiner than it is to pay CS to communicate multiple times with the same whiner. To me it's unethical and I'm fully aware many if not most on a site like this will fully disagree with me.

Chair did an amazing job, and you really owe it to yourself to play this game if you've ever liked a Castlevania or Metroid game. I'm not sure how well the remaster is done, but even playing the 360 version on X1 BC, it's really good, so there's no way it got worse. Play this game!!!

Kind of glad I didn't pay $40 for The Witness. It's a good game and I know it has a ton of content but it's not grabbing me in the same way that other puzzle games like The Talos Principle have.

Maybe that'll change as I get further.

Chair did an amazing job, and you really owe it to yourself to play this game if you've ever liked a Castlevania or Metroid game. I'm not sure how well the remaster is done, but even playing the 360 version on X1 BC, it's really good, so there's no way it got worse. Play this game!!!

Too bad there's no backward compatibility. That being the case, I will not touch any of these games (though I've owned Journey for a while). I guess since they give that one media darling game, they have to give a bunch of junk along with it. If this is what we get after my PS+ price increases, I can play all my PS4 games offline. I've played maybe 40 hours total since I bought the system on Black Friday last year, then bought UC4 on release day (and many other games, but none that just grab me, and certainly none that make me want to pay $60/year for PS+). If PS+ can be found for $30/year like the 1 yr XBL subs, then I'll be cool, but PS funds & PS+ time has always been more expensive than it's XBL counterpart (and that's when it retails for less).

Maybe not promised, but deserved? It's absolutely deserved, given I haven't even downloaded the game yet and it's only been 9 days since purchase. There's reasons several shops (including STEAM), have policies that allow for retroactive price adjustments due to recently lowered prices. It's a sign of good faith, which they know consumers appreciate and will keep their business.

PS+ games are not negotiated overnight, they knew it was going to be offered, and despite that put it on a fire sale less than 2 weeks earlier, hoping to catch some suckers before the drop in "value".

Now if they had put it on sale like this a month+ ago, I don't think there'd be any expectation there. But it is just way too close, imo, and I think others will agree with that. With Xbox, there's seemingly an unwritten rule that any GWG titles aren't put on sale at least 1 - 2 months before they go free, and I figured the same for PS. Apparently that was a mistake.

Call me an entitled whiner all you want, but I'd rather be one than someone who gets bait-and-switched and shrugs it off, which only encourages this kind of behaviour.

It's happened to me in the past so I understand why you would feel the way you do

It wasn't a PS+ sale, so there was an opportunity for plenty of non-PS+ people to get the game on sale. The publisher (Idea Factory) probably should've been upfront about it coming to PS+ in September to let members decide whether they want to own the game or get it free via PS+.

It's hard to explain unless you get hands on with it, as even the videos never did it justice for me. The 360 version had a demo. I wonder if the ps4 version does? If so, check it out. That first intro mission had me sold once I played it myself, and saw how close it was to a modern day Metroid type adventure (and without that "blatant ripoff" feel that you can get from these types of games). One of my favorite 360 Arcade titles. I really wish I could see if the HD remaster upgraded the visuals at all. The videos on both consoles look almost exactly like the original, but I think it's the low quality video that had back when I first saw it (at least I hope so). BUT, the original has aged well, because I am very critical of anything graphics related, and usually I just can't force myself to replay older games because I just can't immerse myself in that world when it doesn't seem believable. I was ready to go through this game again, and I was happy to see that it kept my save from 360 version (on X1 BC).

Looking up their Twitter/Facebook/Site, Idea Factory doesn't even mention their game(s) being on sale that weekend, much less the PS+ news today, so they dropped the ball on this one.

I mean real vita game in the sense that the game (no matter the source of the original) is actually natively compiled for the Vita. Not that it's exclusive to the platform or original to the platform. Heck Journey isn't original to the PS4, but it's still a great get for the month. I don't knock a game for it's origins being Mobile. A great game is a great game. I'd love to see Goblin Sword ported over to the Vita (and 3DS) as well as Traps n' Gemstones (a fantastic little metroidvania game from Donut Games).

Actually that analogy doesn't make sense either as no physical goods are exchanged through PS+ and the PS+ version has an expiration date tied to your membership status. Maybe a better comparison would be buying a digital album on Amazon while it's on sale and then finding out they add it to Prime Music a few days later and you happen to also be a prime member.

I actually agree with .Beowulf but it doesn't matter... complain and they give the money back. Complain too much for refunds and it'll become an issue.

This isn't the first PS+ title to be on sale right before it was announced to be on sale. These things happen and aren't that rare. Same thing with a game being on sale and then finding out it's in a flash sale that weekend for even less... though this is more rare a situation, it's happened.

The rule of thumb is, don't buy anything on PSN unless you are ok with the price at the time you are buying it. By OK, I mean that you realize it could be free on PS+ the next month, it could be on sale cheaper that weekend or the next week... and so on. That's why I typically don't spend much more than $5 on any PSN game unless I REALLY want that specific game that badly. Which is why I wasn't phased at all with Yakuza 5 being free on PS+ when I pre-ordered it (at a slight discount). I'm cool with it. I want to own that game even if I decide later to stop being a PS+ subscriber.

I agree. That'd have been enough. I'm sure there would still be refund requests, but probably a significant amount less.

Good point about the non-PS+ subbers. I thought that might have been a factor, but I didn't think of simple transparency as a solution since the "hiding" of future titles is so expected.

I put the blame on Sony because they obviously have final say on approved sales and such, but I'm sure Idea Factory is at least somewhat to blame.

That too. I notice that people still have (arguably justified) misgivings about the price hike announcement being initially hidden in a blog post, it really deserved a separate one.
