Uncharted 4 is now downloaded. A nice 54GB. I am afraid of how much it will end up with all the DLC. I was not looking to upgrade my HD but when one game might reach upwards of 70GB I might have to consider.
Urghh. That's hefty. I won't have time to even think about a HD upgrade this week (without taking away my limited UC4 gameplay time :) ).

Going to be painful to chop some stuff. But hopefully I can get a new HD sometime later this month.

Storage is by far my biggest complaint of this generation (although it was easier on my X1). I know I'm lazy and just have to bite the bullet, shell out some cash and just do it.

Sony just needs to get on board with USB drives. Nintendo and Microsoft both went along on that, it makes memory expansion on PS4 needlessly difficult. This seems like it could simply be patched in...

I bought the bullet early on for ps4 because I wanted to put in a 2tb before I bought too much stuff and had to download everything

xbox one I have a 1tb model and a 1tb external for when the time comes hoping to catch that 5 tb external on sale sometime before i need it

I have spent so much on hds in the past year it's ridiculous

Yeah, I agree. I know some people say it's a performance issue to use an external but I really haven't noticed any difference on my X1 even moving the same game between internal and external.

And I'm sorry, but no matter how many people and articles say it's "easy" to replace the PS4 HD, nothing is faster than just plugging an external one into a USB.

But I think Sony would have done it by now if they were planning to add it.

I was not sure exactly how it did the download but there were at least 2 downloads and the final one was 12GB. Since I cannot launch the game yet I am not sure if there is a patch to download also.
the 12 gb is the single player part of the game, you have the option to pick which one you want downloaded first. i picked single player and it wa 12.994 gb. its currently moving at a snail's pace.

You would think it would hurt sales only allowing 2tb which is ridiculously small considering how big games are and how many games the average gamer has per collection but it never seems to as they never expanded ps3 to externals

I dunno about anyone else but knowing I only get 2tb makes me think twice before purchasing any game just because I don't want a bunch of games I won't be able to have big ass patches already downloaded for

"hey buddy wanna play blah blah from 2015"

"yeah sure but first let me delete some games and dl this 15 gig patch for the next 6 hours"

I had an entirely different scenario just occur regarding this week's sale on Star Wars Pinball. I had it through plus before, but I couldn't get the demo to work on my vita now that I let my sub lapse. Ended up getting a refund because they couldn't figure out the error either. That is the only game I have tried to purchase from the psn that I used to have through PS+, and it is the only issue that I have ever had with my vita downloading games. I don't think it is a coincidence. Sony support was a joke also.
If that's the whole situation, you probably could've saved yourself a bit of trouble a while back when Zen Pinball 2 launched on PS4 and grabbed that stuff for free via Cross Buy, which would've stripped PS+ requirements from the PS3/Vita tables and potentially caused no issues now.

I suppose, hypothetically, if I were only interested in ZP2 or owned a PS4, that would solve everything. However, since I have no issue loading ZP2 on the vita, or the tables for it, I have no idea if that would potentially fix anything. Realistically, Sony has no idea how to fix the error caused by the standalone SWP and doesn't want to deal with it. Thus, my refund. Either way, done is done. Moving on. Where is the Kiwami sale for $6?

That surprises me the SP is only that big actually. I am now really worried about how big the DLCs will be since they will be mostly MP. I guess there is some SP content coming also.

That's just the patch if I'm reading correctly.

And it's kind of laughable that we've gotten to the point of 12 GB patches on day one.

I completely forgot that you can at the least use an external to archive some stuff on the PS4.  I have an extra one that will at least delay the need for an new internal or redownloading a bunch of stuff.

Kind of regretting my Vita purchase of Digimon last week with the PS4 version being $31 lloll

Guess I'll double dip when it's cheaper.

i dont know, i picked the single player portion to download first, it downloaded the 13gb then installed it, the 2nd download began at the 13gb spot and is a total of 48 gb. obviously i cant check right now to see if i can play the single player to know for sure.

The limitation is that the fps might drop to 30. Oh my god, can you imagine the horror?! (/sarcasm)

Seriously, that is why they have stopped having splitscreen in some racing games. SMH
well 30fps can be bad depending on the game. action titles or fighting games. Tales of zestiria comes to mind though in its case its framerate dropped lower than 30 so it was snail pace and the audio was ahead of what was happening on screen

Alienation is absolutely amazing if anyone is on the fence.

It's a super refined Dead Nation with better -everything-, combined with super large maps, really, really solid replay-ability,  easy peasy drop-in coop, and a fantastic 'diablo' style lewt metagame.

Awesome, awesome game from Housemarque and everyone should pick it up when they can.

Housemarque has earned it's way up the ranks of a-tier devs in my opinion, putting out masterpiece after masterpiece... while they might not be putting out uncharted's, they are defining PSN [super startdust, resogun, etc].   And now they''re doing a AAA game... can't wait.

Absolutely agree. I've played the first level, and love the game so far. Excellent controls, great environments, cool weapons, pure action bliss. We really need more games like this one. Bought it at launch, well worth the price.

I couldn't find most of the games under the sale page using the computer. They had 3 sections May the 4th, Activision, and All Games or something, but even choosing all games didn't show all the games in this week's sale. I had to search for specific games individually such as Sega Bass Fishing. Anyone else have the same problem?

the 13gb is definitely the single player portion of the game, playing it now with nothing else downloaded. didnt even have to download the day 1 5gb patch.

I was wondering if anyone could answer this for me. On the site it says sale ends at 11am but I was wondering if it means it ends at 11am EST or 11am PT. I live on the east coast but I'm not sure if the time on the site is reflecting that and I want to make sure before the sale ends.

EST.

So I finally started playing games last night again after about a two month break.  Fired the vita up, updated it, and some of my other purchases and stuff that were cueued up started downloading.  One of them was Star Wars Pinball.  I had problems loading it up before but noticed recently it was remarked as "Free" again... so I repurchased it (expecting it was converted or something due to my PS+ freebies) and set it all to download.

The interesting thing is it was 7 separate downloads!

Star Wars PInball

Star Wars Pinball Pack Unlock

Star Wars Pinball PS Vita Demo

Zen Pinball 2

Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Unlock

Zen Pinball 2 PS VIta

Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Demo

Ok...

So Zen Pinball 2 alone wouldn't install.  Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Unlock also wouldn't install.  Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita was the kicker.  Once that was installed, the Zen Pinball 2 download installed and I could install the Unlock.  But the Unlock doesn't actually seem to have the tables, you also need the Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Demo.  I just paused all of the downloads and tried to unpause them one by one to figure out what I actually needed.

Alternately, installing Star Wars Pinball PS Vita Demo and the Star Wars Pinball Pack Unlock was enough to play the tables in a stand alone game.

As for the Star Wars Pinball stand alone install, it's a tiny download, I didn't download and install it at all initially but went ahead and did it this morning and it seemed to update the Demo + Unlock to show more tables you can buy and changes the UI around a little.  You don't actually need it though to play the base tables that were included in the PS+ version.

So, yeah it's confusing.

Size wise:

230MB for the standalone Star Wars Pinball + Star Wars Pinball Demo + Star Wars PInball Pack Unlock

436MB for ZEN Pinball 2 + ZEN Pinball 2 PS Vita + Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Demo + Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita: Star Wars Pinball Unlock

So if you only want the star wars stuff, don't bother with Zen Pinball 2.  If you think you'll want more, don't bother with the stand alone unless you are trophy hunting or whatever.  I'm thinking of just keeping the more beefy Zen Pinball 2 just because of the off chance I want more tables then I will just have to install the demo tables + unlock for whatever pack I get.

Isn't the USB port on the PS4 only 2.0? I thought I remember reading that.

I did the upgrade on my PS4 and really it isn't that bad. I have a XBox One now too and running out of space. I rather buy another 2GB internal drive and put in. But that isn't possible so I will probably just add an external.

I had all sorts of problems getting star wars pinball +zen 2 with my purchased tables to all get installed properly on ps3 last week

ps4 was an easier process for the zen 2 tables for me

Ubisoft Sale is starting. Upto 75% off on PS3 & PS4 games. So far my money is safe this week.

Also a Focus Home Interactive Sale and a few other random games.

Yeah, it's a pretty big mess. I felt like an idiot trying to decypher which things I actually needed. I ended up just deleting Zen2 and kept the SW standalone for now. Better to have the free space.

No, the PS4 USB ports run to spec USB 3.0.

Some further reading says you are correct but the performance is pretty bad of these USB 3.0 ports. But most of that is older articles so maybe they fixed it.

Still rather have the drive internal anyway. Less clutter.

It's not that it's not that bad but that were limited to 2TB and some of us are already needing more. Because it's internal you can get the handful of larger drives because they are physically incompatible not hook up multiple drives. XB1 supports a whole slew of drives and any capacity available on the market currently.

cant you buy that nyko storage thing and use up to 4 or 5 tb now? i believe it allows the use of 3.5 inch drives and a recent update to playstation allowed it to support 4 or 5 tb.

they should open up ps3 to externals now that those days are over and they almost need to open up externals right now to ps4

I dunno how they get away with holding strong on internals tbh

I'm not seeing much this week as far as games and not really seeing any prices that'll change my mind
Saving my money for Downwell when it comes to PS4 and Vita at the end of the month. And I lost my second job yesterday so I'll be buying less and attacking my backlog with a vengeance here soon. That job provided extra money for gaming, partying and whatever else, so I'm bummed about it. But I've got a backlog with hundreds of games in it to soothe my tortured soul.

sorry to hear that!

check out temp agencies they are the next best way to get a fast job if friends/family don't have any hookups

I hope you find something soon

just read that doom is 47 gb, so the hard drive debate will keep going. 500gb is only good for about 7 or 8 full size games and even less with all the season pass, updates, etc.
