Those are really good games.

If anything, with them only putting out two games, the better the games are the more likely you already have them, therefore: the better the games are, the worse the games are.

Personally I never played MWR, I haven't played MW since 2007 and loved it then, so I think I'll have a fun time playing through it again. I have The Witness on PC, but not on PS4. So March is more or less a wash-ish for me, but not because of any lack of quality in the games. I suspect lots of people haven't bought The Witness, and it rarely goes under $10, so by all independent standards it's an awesome pick for PS Plus, even if most people on this forum are going to hate this month because they already have these titles.

Overall though I'm happy. If they were doing the usual shenanigans I wouldn't have been surprised to see a bunch of  titles I already have from other bundling platforms on the PC.

There is absolutely no guarantee of this. They could put out d-tier indies if they want to still and I’m more than confident they will. They’ve made no promises as to how they plan on adding value back to the service.

You completely misunderstood my point and quoted half my sentence. I did not say that the games will be better because there's only two.

I said [the better the games are, the more likely that you already have them]. And I was pointing out that this problem is exacerbated because there's only two games: fewer games, less chance you'll get something you don't already have.

Paradoxically, PS Plus picks are not optimized by picking the best games possible, because of the problem of getting games you already have.

In this thread people were saying "if they're only giving two games, they better be really good ones", then they picked two really good games and now everyone is complaining because they (of course) already have them.

Been like that since day one of PS4. You own those games and Sony is still a decade behind on multiplayer features.
Not just behind: they actively go out of their way to ruin the multiplayer features on their games, for PlayStation players and for everyone else. Cf. cross-play.

I've really only play Uncharted MP on Sony... At least this gen. Last gen I played some SOCOM, Warhawk and some other exclusives that I'm not remembering at this time... and the service was free, I get that it's not going to be the greatest of things... but having just got a PS4 I'm not seeing a huge gains... Recent player list doesn't work half the time, no report feature (when we have all these ways to record cheaters), slower downloads, poor patch management (bigger downloads), and between reddit and here I see 5 requests about name changes a day.

Edit: I feel like Sony must realize this as they haven't released a non sports title with MP since Uncharted 4 in 2016. No SOCOM, no MAG, etc.

Edit 2: Don't get me wrong the single player exclusives have been great so far. UC4 was a great rebound from UC3, LL was a great for what it was suppose to be. And Spider-Man is giving the early Arkham games a run for their money.

Right now the only reason for me to renew PS+ in December is the backlog of past PS+ games I grabbed over the last 4(?) years... and cloud saves.  I'm sure my kids care about online to some degree but their attention is mostly on PC gaming and borrowing my Switch for Smash Bros and a few other games.

eh. The PS Plus is still value to me since day 1 and I have yet to pay full price for 1 year PS+ subscription. It has been under $35 for me for the past 4 years. I mainly got it for the extra discount. For example, I spent about $200+ on PS store digital games last year. Without the PS+ discount I would have paid $500.

I was afraid of this. Sony took away 2 systems a month and didn’t even bother to try and replace them with anything other than an increase in online storage. Damn it Sony. At the very least, fix your damn rewards program.

I noticed that the PS4 version of Hollow Knight is the "Voidheart Edition", is that any different from the Switch/PC versions?  Or is it just that it includes all the free DLC up front because it launched later?

Also, I'm going to assume it's worth the $7.50, considering how much praise I hear for it.

It's just what they called this version of the game that had all of the content updates they've added to it since the launch, which is available on every version out there. It's well worth the sale price.

I'm glad they upgraded the PS+ save storage a few weeks ago, as my internal hard drive shit the bed and I had to put the original 1 TB Pro hard drive back in to use until I get a new hard drive to put in there. I'd have lost a bunch of saves from games I had played since reaching the size cap a while back, so the only things I really lost were beta and demo saves that don't matter anyway. My external also had most of the bigger games, so I didn't have to download much that was missing from that. I think I'm eyeing the 2 TB FireCuda SSHD that I've seen recommended on every list I saw about the best hard drives for PS4.

My external also had most of the bigger games, so I didn't have to download much that was missing from that. I think I'm eyeing the 2 TB FireCuda SSHD that I've seen recommended on every list I saw about the best hard drives for PS4.
I am keeping most of my games on a 4tb external and will be installing a 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD into my pro for the "now playing" games. I never play more than 2 or 3 games at a time, and using an internal SSD just for those will give me some much improved load times.

I've had that same drive in my launch PS4 for a couple of years now. No issues so far (knock on wood).

anybody play The Council?

why is the season pass which gives you episodes 2 - 5 more expensive than the complete season which gives you all 5 episodes?

I’m a bit concerned now that the PS Plus monthly games are ending that there will be no more PS3 and Vita sales. I finally bought as used PS3 after skipping Sony last generation just to claim the titles that I’ve been accumulating. But I would love to buy some exclusives if they ever go on sale. Anyone think they might stop sales for those consoles altogether?

What? No.

It's a long wait to see if PS5 games get added to PS+.  Let's be real, the number of subscribers that actually still care about PS3 and Vita games is small, with most of them being active/vocal on sites like this.

Bummed out about next month's PS+ games.  Already have Witness from Xbox GWG, and already the platinum for MWR (from the IW legacy bundle).

I was really hoping for an announcement about the “new ps plus” this week that talked about how great plus was going to be from here on out. Now it seems I just can’t get over Sony removing so much from plus and not doing anything to justify the current price of plus. I could justify the price increase when it happened because I had all three systems and I was getting the games for each. I didn’t like it, but I could accept it. Usually there was at least one game I would try each month, typically on my vita tbh. I guess now I am mainly paying for the sale prices.
So frustrating. Even more so that the first month without ps3 and vita includes an effing remaster that was not only a standalone, but included in CoD IW legacy edition.
They seriously dropped the ball imo. Ugh.

I figured they'd try to go with something bigger to soften the blow the first month of the change tbh, though maybe in their mind this is supposed to be big because it's "the" call of duty game and a critically acclaimed puzzle game. Hilariously enough the month they announced they were scaling back to 2 games is also when they gave Bloodborne and the R&C reboot (plus the other games.) I'd say that was a more appealing month than this.

It's a really strange story, but I recommend it if you like independent adventure games. The price discrepancy is one of those stupid things that makes no sense.

Some new deals:

Deponia Doomsday - $19.99
Damn, the last two Deponia games dropped within the past month. I hate when these ports are so expensive while the PC versions have been out for ages for dirt cheap and even got released free through Humble Bundle in January. At least if we were given a 20% o-- oh, forget it.

I was afraid of this. Sony took away 2 systems a month and didn’t even bother to try and replace them with anything other than an increase in online storage. Damn it Sony. At the very least, fix your damn rewards program.
So, you can't have two of each system type on your PSN account anymore? Just trying to make sure that I understood your post.

No, Moofboy is referring to PS3 and Vita games no longer being part of the monthly PS+ lineup, only PS4 games.
Thanks, buddy. I don't frequent this thread that much because I have less than 50 cents in my PSN wallet, but I try to check in every now and again. I have two PS3s on my PSN account, so I got scared.

I think Sony's strategy might have been not to offer too much (or too great) this first month, and then have to scale back in the future. For example, if they gave away 3 top notch PS4 titles in March and then in April gave away 2 sub-par titles, everyone would be complaining in April.

I like what a previous poster said with them offering a PSVR game each month along with 2 PS4 titles - I think that would have been a great move and gain more interest in PSVR (which is amazing).

get rid of the free games and give a 25% code for the cart once a month
I would be down with this, but I imagine they would lose a ton on single month subs and there would be no incentive to keep a subscription until you wanted to buy another batch of games unless you wanted online play.

People have been calling the indie games ps+ offers worthless for ages. The majority of people only download the ps4 games, and I bet most people don't even play those.

Personally I love my Vita and I will miss the games terribly. I didn't always play them but I still enjoyed the suspense and was occasionally very pleased.

But given how such a majority seem to yell about how the PS3 and Vita games were of no value, I'm not sure what they expected when they were removed. If they were worthless to begin with, then how much value was Sony going to add when removing them?

I think they did a pretty good job with the first two games. I already owned the witness but it's a great game. Let's give it a few months and see where they take it. I do wish they waited for the PS5 so that they could have transitioned from PS3 and Vita smoother.

Agree with this part especially. The PS Plus PS3 games almost felt like a slap in the face considering that GWG games are backwards compatible. It was almost like Sony was giving you something with a reminder that they didn't offer as good of a service as Microsoft. I say this with about half sarcasm and half truth.

plus games were always a mixed bag on whether the individual person wanted to play them or not.  I did enjoy king oddball on the vita tv though when that was up.  I don't exactly get removing the ps3 and vita offerings if they offered no value then all it would have taken was minimal effort to continue releasing them.

ps4 wise at the bare minimum they could offer 2 vr titles and maybe some psnow titles or digital only titles a month.  As is I see little to no reason to get a sub other than when ps+ sales offer a discount enough and those are few and far between.

I’m going to miss the Vita games for sure. I’d rather still have the PS3 offerings as well vs not, but I almost never game on my PS3 anymore. I would gladly take even one psvr game in their place though. Love my psvr

I'm just mad that I used to get more stuff and now I get less.

Honestly, I would "purchase" the PS3 and Vita games every month but only rarely would ever play a game I got on the Vita and never on the PS3.

I want to say that the value of the PS+ is less and now that I think about it, it is less.  Sure, I got 2 games Vita games that I didn't play but one of them was cross-buy and so I really got 3 (or more) PS4 games and I would sometimes play them on the PS4.

Sony easily could have not removed the extra games or could have given us something else in addition to the 2 PS4 games we already would have gotten.

I have been a Sony fanboy all my life and I always will be, but I must agree with a lot of us here that Sony is not looking very nice these days.  Value-wise Microsoft is killing Sony from every angle, as Xbox supports Game Pass, Backwards Compatibility, better hardware with more frequent deals, better rewards system, cross-play with Nintendo and PC, Play Anywhere initiative giving Xbox+PC copies of digital purchases, controllers for handicapped players, and so on.  PlayStation has been less 'consumer-friendly' than Xbox in many respects, and cannot compete with Xbox in terms of 'value' proposition at the moment.  Some Sony fanboys might deny this, but imagine we get God of War and Spider Man games day one for free if you are a Playstation Now subscriber.  Can you imagine that happening?  Of course not.  And that is what Microsoft is providing (although you can argue that they don't have God of War quality exclusives).  So this 2-game-only PS Plus is in fact a pain to us CAGs, because it adds insult to injury.

I am very excited to see how this competition will play out in the next generation war between PS5 and new Xbox's.  I hope and predict that, once PS5 is out, we will probably get 2 PS5 games and 2 PS4 games for PS Plus, then we will be happier.  But until then I will be sad holding my Vita.

Lol Sony giving away PS5 games is funny. I could even see the opposite occurring and them having 1 PS4 game a month. I've always looked at the PS+ games as extras and in rare cases games I actually wanted like Rocket League.

I'm always in it for cheap games and typically have most systems so I just follow the deals and rewards

For years I was always tooting sony's horn because of the site being better for purchases and for a while the coupons were abundant and the credit discounts easy to chase

but after the coupons dried up and even worse all the credit deals died out on sites like ebay I really don't have much business to do with sony and haven't for many months

things change all the time and I'm not married to anything but with how easy it is for credit discounts and rewards on xbox these days it's not even a debate imo (for now)

From a purely cheapass standpoint microsoft is just kicking ass and Sony is reminding me of prime, amazing in the early days now I'm crunching numbers and wondering to myself is this even worth it anymore? in prime's case it wasn't but maybe things will turn around and I'll be back to tooting that sony horn someday soon

I've always thought a PS+ points + discount system would be best.  That way we could get the games we want, not what was dictated.  Even if it took a month or 2 to save up enough points for a AAA title, I'd be ok with that,  You may get fewer games per year, but it would be better to get what you want rather than a bunch of random junk or ones you already own.  I realize this is far too consumer friendly to be considered & would require some effort to manage.  Plus we all know Sony rocks at keeping up with points programs amirite?!?

Got a pop up in the PS App on iOS stating that they're going to be sending promos in notifications now. Not quite sure the extent of it since the wording was quite vague.
