Nowadays, most very hard difficulties aren't even that hard.

You guys really didn't like LBP Karting?  I'm really starting to enjoy it.  Who's the one with the kid?  Add me so I can play against him/her and get some easy wins.

The most enjoyable part about LBP Karting was the battle they had. The racing part felt bland, the only amazing thing about it was just the creativity of the levels.

I liked that dungeons used to be complex puzzles with riddles, spinner traps, teleport traps, and death around every corner. Compare that to the dungeons of one of the better RPGs this gen - Dragon's Age... in which the dungeons were linear with slight branching for chests. Was DA good? Yep. But we lost stuff in the translation.

----

Listen, I know I'm in the minority. Demon's Souls was my favorite game this gen. I've ascended in NetHack w/o scum saving. I wish FTL had a hard mode (really, I do). And I realize there are many people out there who have only gamed on IOS, or only gamed this gen. I understand pubs/devs need mass appeal. All understandable. I 'get' why all these features got added, and in many cases, I don't mind them. But taken all together, it's simplified most games into interactive movies. Sometimes they're good (Uncharted)... but I miss the challenge gaming used to offer, especially on consoles.

And despite "difficultly" levels, it's really just not there anymore. Games, by and large, have been absolutely neutered in terms of difficultly, to the point where people call Demon's Souls hard even though every single boss is intentionally exploitable (don't get me wrong, it's still my GOTG).
I agree with you to an extent, and it's always nice to see someone my age on this forum. I just know that the only Infocom game I'll play regularly now is Beyond Zork. Is it because it's a great Infocom story? No, we both know that's not true. It's because it's the only one with a nice automap, which makes it easy to pick up and play when I'm bored at work or something. And yes, automapping would have destroyed some puzzles that were designed to confuse map makers. But damn, I wish they released Solid Gold versions of every Infocom game with an automap feature like Beyond Zork's. I would have rebought them all in a heartbeat.

I do hate that so many RPGs come with a difficulty level these days. But there are still games out there that are genuinely difficult, or have genuinely difficult achievements/trophies for you to pursue.

I missed Spec Ops as well, but it's not going to be free again on PS+. They don't repeat these main PS3 games on the IGC. They have repeated smaller PSN and Mini games in the past.

I'd love to see Mafia 2 in NA. Also, Spec Ops would be nice since I missed it when it was on PS+ earlier this year.

Yeah, too bad but at least you can snag it cheap on PC. I hope we get Most Wanted though, hankering for some racing on PS3 and still probably the best racer to come out in at least the last year if not longer. That and I don't want to spend $40 on Grid 2 when it's got issues and mixed reviews.

Hated Spec Ops. They stupidly didn't put in an auto dodge to avoid the bullets or a lock on system to aim the gun for you and I died on the first level. I'm very busy, how do they expect me to find time to learn how to control the character? There should be an option to do it for me so I can just enjoy the story!

I said I have 0 patience.  Obviously thats a bit of an exaggeration.  You have to have some patience to play games.  You will repeat things.  We all know that.  No reason to be childish over a simple comment.  Then again...ah nevermind this will get deleted more than likely anyway.

What I dont like or have patience for is a game like Demons Souls.  I realize a lot of you like that game and it must be a good game when every critic praises it.  Doesnt mean its everyone's cup of tea.  The reason I dont like it is that I dont have the time or the "want to" in order to progress in it.  I hate playing 30 minutes of the same section over and over again just to get back to the same place I was only to die again a couple steps further.  Rinse and repeat ad nauseum.  Now I also realize some of you will come back with "oh its not that hard, you just have to....blah blah blah".  I dont have the patience for it.  Great that a lot of you do.  More power to you.  It just aint for me.

How could anyone prefer that TERRIBLE port of Grandia 2? The PS2 version was horrendous. Muddy graphics, glitches up the ass and was just ugly to look at.
On the Dreamcast version you couldn't make out 70% of the cinemas, they were nothing but black, and they seemed to fix it on the PS2 version. Could've just been my version though.

Lol I read this comment without reading the previous pages, and was totally confused :dunce: . BTW I'm playing the Prince of Persia, and man the orb collecting side of it is driving me insane. I love the interaction between the characters, but dangs this orb collecting deal is killing me

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/18/retro-city-rampage-update-adds-retro-mode-prototype-version/

The $4.99 sale that ends next week for Retro City Rampage coincides with the new update that adds a bunch of new stuff. Retro+ mode adds some new visual touches to make the game look better. ROM City Rampage is an 8-bit accurate version of the game made within the boundaries that NES development had, which can be played at an arcade machine from within the game. They've also added a new Gallery mode and made some other tweaks.

I think I might go back and try this out again. I think my hype/actual product ratio got put way out of whack when I first played. Hopefully with lower expectations, the enjoyment factor will be higher.

trying to decide which two games I'll get from the psn play promo, I'm getting Stealth Inc. for sure but I don't know what my second game will be. Ducktales looks good but I didn't really watch the show that much as kid or play the original NES game to really appreciate the remastered version, plus it costs $12 which is a little high imo. Cloudberry Kingdom looks really hard from the gameplay video I saw, that is a slight turn off for me. ibb & obb has some interesting platforming and I like that it has local and online co-op.

It was your copy - literally. Dreamcast discs hold up to 1GB of data whereas CD-rs can only hold 700 MB. A lot of Dreamcast games would need to have their CG movies downsampled or cut entirely. Next time buy the game.

This might be a little random, but for those that enjoyed Jim Guthrie's album in Sound Shapes might like to know you can currently pick up it and 10 of his other albums for whatever you want in the new Humble Weekly (yes, even $0.01). I was really excited to see this since I the levels featuring his music were second only to the Beck ones as my favorite (though ultimately I loved them all). Just thought some of you might like to know :D

I know this didn't get much traction before, but if you tried to navigate your Download List recently and saw that it had ballooned by a ton of entries, it should be fixed now. Mine was over 6100 entries long for the past few weeks, but now it's back to just over 3500 for me. I think the major issue for my download list is that every PS+ update that I grabbed stuff appeared on the list when it was purchased along with occasional dumps of a bigger list of PS+ purchases whenever I renewed my sub, even if it was just a 30 day code extension, and then the final big group of all of my PS+ content at the last time that I renewed a few months ago.

That's the one area of the PSN store I really wish they would improve or at least let me redownload stuff from the item itself. I've not at a fraction of what you've got but it's already beyond manageable to find something in it if I need to redownload it or the web store didn't start it right.

thanks, its through 2015 niw. i guess it just took a while to update? most of my games have the old exp date though... i hope i dont have to re-dload them all
The games don't update automatically since the date is set from when it's purchased. If they hit their expiration date, it should prompt you to let it check the status of your PS+ sub and update the date then.

It was an an actual copy of the game. I didn't know about how easy it was to play burned games on the DC until long after the dreamcast was dead. I should've used the word copy, not version to prevent people who automatically assume everyone bootlegs games, instead of buying them, from doing so, my apologies.

I looked up some information about the dreamcast version, and seems I was the only person to have this problem. Could've been a lot of things, the disc (bad print), my dreamcast, or even my tv. Thinking back on it, the only one I can really think of was the one in the one where they cross the chasm. In the DC version all I saw was black, and I only heard the voices. In the PS2 version I actually saw things happen on the screen to go along with the voices. But, to get better/smoother graphics, I would definitely obviously go with the DC version.

If anyone still doesn't have Critter Crunch and doesn't buy it at that price, I might have to personally reach through their computer and revoke their CAG badge. That game is amazing and $1 is a crazy good price for it :bouncy:

Cut the guy some slack geez :p So he liked Grandia 2 on ps2 instead. It's not the end of the world.

And wow ninja squirrel haha. I guess I have to get it Tuesday then. I wear my CAG badge with pride.

I second this mightily. His SuperBrothers: Sword & Sworcery soundtrack gets heavy rotation from me (also that game and Indie Game: The Movie are included if you beat the average price).

R U out of your mind lol? Mafia 2 is one of the worst open world-ish gta clones this gen. And the ps3 version is awful. Literally anything else would be better.

I never bought Rayman Origins because I always assumed NA would get it for plus eventually. With that said, there is no point buying it now since Rayman Legends will include 40 levels from Origins that have been prettied up even further. I'll just buy Legends instead.

A dollar huh? Too rich for my blood.

Well it wasn't an open world GTA style game though. It was a fairly linear game with a few sections set in a city area and wasn't trying to compete with GTA but the timing and theme of the game linked them in the public perception. Definitely not a great game but I enjoyed it still.

I really enjoyed playing the demo, specifically finding people on the docks and running into them, knocking them into the water to their death since they could not swim.

Hmm never heard of Everyday Shooter. Maybe I'll check it out. No trophies though, for those that care about that. Critter Crunch was a buck just a month or so ago, so not sure why it would get such a steep price drop again...

Also, why is Chaos Rings a PS Mobile game instead of a PSN game, that's pretty lame.

I'm curious about the price of Chaos Rings. I'm sure Square Enix will overcharge, but I'm just wondering how by how much.

It was already on Android, so they didn't need to do much work on it. That's the Square Enix way.

Everyday Shooter is Jonathan Mak's first PSN game, before Sound Shapes.

It's never too late to start, unlike a lot of other children's animated programs from that era, they can still be enjoyed when you are older. If you have amazon prime you can watch the first 65 episodes for free.

It's $9.99 (!) on Windows Phone, not sure what it is on other mobile platforms, but it's far and away the most expensive Windows Phone Xbox games.

Oh cool.

I would be fine receiving what EU got for their PS+ but I want to see more Vita love. VLR was a great game, but everything else just seems lack luster to me.

Everyday Shooter is the first PSN game I ever bought, and I'd gladly buy it again.

It's one of, if not the, most inventive and original dual stick shooters ever.

I didn't realize he went on to make Sound Shapes.  That explains a lot, actually.

Everyday Shooter was basically a one-man game from Jonathan Mak before he formed more of a team for Sound Shapes and he had one of the more unique posts on the PS Blog before the game's launch:

Thanks for that link Frisky that was quite entertaining lol. All I gotta say is:

"As I’m writing this, I’m talking to a game developer who’s friends throw pig’s blood at each other."

^What?!? lol

@Tyler The sequel, Chaos Rings 2, is freaking $15.99. Square enix is WAY out there with their mobile pricing.

Except that they keep doing it because the games are always on the top sellers lists.
Yeah you're right. Really can't blame them when people just eat them up regardless of price lol. I'd keep that price point too then. I just never spend or want to spend enough time on my phone to have a $10-$16 rpg on there.
