Atlus' parent company will begin auctioning off its assets and subsidiaries as early as next week. I shudder to think what this thread will become if Microsoft swoops in.

I doubt MS will bother. They really aren't that interested in Japanese centric games since the Xbox sells so poorly there. If anyone at Nintendo had half a brain they'd be buying up the studios l. They're in desperate need of new IP's and fresh ideas. Probably wont happen and you'll see Sega and Zenimax buy up everything.

I know this didn't get much traction before, but if you tried to navigate your Download List recently and saw that it had ballooned by a ton of entries, it should be fixed now. Mine was over 6100 entries long for the past few weeks, but now it's back to just over 3500 for me. I think the major issue for my download list is that every PS+ update that I grabbed stuff appeared on the list when it was purchased along with occasional dumps of a bigger list of PS+ purchases whenever I renewed my sub, even if it was just a 30 day code extension, and then the final big group of all of my PS+ content at the last time that I renewed a few months ago.
Wow, having just replaced my YLOD fat PS3 and spending tons of time in my DL list, I thought I was going crazy with the dupe entries. This explains it!!! I'm not crazy!!

Stealth looks tempting but too frustrating/hard from the trailer.

Cloudberry Kingdom I won't even touch, way above my skill or patience level these days.

Ducktales might be fun, I do have vague memories of playing the original on the NES. But not for $11.

I can't get Playstation Mobile to work on my Motorola Photon Q. It has 4G and the latest version of Android. (I think)

If any console maker buys Atlus, the entire gaming internet will melt for a week.

I think it's very unlikely that MS would do it.

Somewhat possible for Sony or Nintendo.

But I also think it's vastly more likely that an entirely different company gets them.

Quick small gripe about the PSN online store, but we should be able to redownload things we've already downloaded right from the product page rather than from the download list.

For example, I downloaded the Jet Set Radio demo when it came out, so when I checked out with the free game just now, it only added the unlock key to the top.  Now, as far as I can tell, the only way to re-queue the demo to download is scroll through my download list.

What you said here is the only reason that MS WOULD be interested. Grab all the Atlus titles, they'd be 360/One exclusives, and all of a sudden they're selling consoles in Japan.

Other folks have pointed out valid reasons they wouldn't, but yours is the only reason I can think of that they'd actually consider it.

On the Dreamcast version you couldn't make out 70% of the cinemas, they were nothing but black, and they seemed to fix it on the PS2 version. Could've just been my version though.
I agree that the Dreamcast version was the superior version, but just wanted to sympathize with Gden because I had a similarly glitchy DC (non-bootleg) Grandia 2. About halfway through the game it started freezing after every fight and I would have to reboot the system and had to avoid every enemy (except bosses) to beat the game. I also had atleast one cutscene that was just voices and no picture. I think I just had a bad Dreamcast though because Grandia 2 wasn't my only problem game. So, yeah, still one of my favorite games though.

Too bad it's just the DLC that's cross buy with Hot Shots since TigerDirect just cancelled my order from that sale on the Vita version.

Quick small gripe about the PSN online store, but we should be able to redownload things we've already downloaded right from the product page rather than from the download list.
Exactly.

From what I'm reading, ATLUS isn't for sale, they are having another round of bids for their sponsor, Destructoid is spreading misinformation.

Also I wish it would show as downloaded things that are already downloaded. Or at the very least pop up a message saying that it is already downloaded.

Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter seem like they should be on Vita too, but they aren't.
Everyday Shooter is on Vita via the PSP version, which should control just as well as the PS3 version.

When I've been redownloading some stuff lately from the PS Store directly, it's been adding the demo and unlock when I click on download. I don't know if only certain games do/don't, but it's worked like that for me every time that I've tried.

I just tried Jet Set Radio specifically and the demo + unlock key were added to my download queue.

Edit: Oh wait, are you takling about the web store? Then I'm not saying anything relevant. Sorry.

XCom experts of CAG: is the sniper class vastly inferior to the other classes, or am I using it wrong?  The added range (if any) doesn't seem to compensate for the movement restrictions, in my experience.

Your sniper shouldn't necessarily be moving around a ton. Find a good spot for them to take advantage of the situation and stay there until things change.

True.. though I tend to have my squad moving around a lot, so what I run into is that my snipers are either falling too far behind to hit anyone, or moving too much to be able to take any real shots.  So that's why I'm thinking I'm either using them wrong or they're just not very useful for my play-style.

Way to show me up man! :boxing:
Just thinking of it as I was building on your solid groundwork. ;)

XCom experts of CAG: is the sniper class vastly inferior to the other classes, or am I using it wrong? The added range (if any) doesn't seem to compensate for the movement restrictions, in my experience.
Yeah, one of the key abilities in my experience is the one that lets them target anything that a squad mate can see. This is important because it keeps them from having to move as much and they're the one unit that gets less accurate the closer they are to their target.

Ahhh. Are there any restrictions on that, or can the sniper hit a target even if it's on the other side of the map, so long as another unit sees it? I took that perk on one of my snipers early in the game, and it didn't seem to work as I expected it to.

Forgive me if I'm wrong on this, been like six months since I last played XCOM, but I believe it extended across the map or very close to it and can't shoot through brick walls or anything ridiculous like that. Usually what I would do was park the sniper somewhere near the drop zone where they could get a height advantage and hit where I had the other part of the team operating. Then if the team moved somewhere where the sniper lost good coverage I would move them while trying to keep them back away from the mess.

Aha, that's a good idea! Thanks, I'll try it out.

This thread needs more Mamorukun Curse! mentions.  While it's not technically a deal in the US, if you compare the PSN price to what you'd pay to get a Japanese copy and all the DLC, it's hard to argue with the value.

I'm pretty sure all the moneyhatting MS did this gen for jrpgs was a total failure, both in the US and in Japan. I doubt they want to try that again. If not for the failed attempts this gen, I'd agree with you.

Holy what. I had no idea i could play ES on my vita. Is it going on sale too?

Snipers are godly in Xcom. 2 or 3 fullly lvl'd snipers plus a scout = mass xeno extinction.

I haven't played it since i plat'd it back when it came out, but basically i found 2 builds for them that worked well.

My favorite build:

Squad sight - Allows firing at targets in an ally's sight radius.

(note - this includes reaction shots iirc! which means if you have a sniper or 2 set up to fire on sight, and an enemy pops up to shoot at your guy, he's toast)

Damn Good Groud -- bonus for elevation. Since you want your sniper in a nest for squad sight anyway, you want this.

Disabling Shot -- good in a crunch if you know you can't kill something, at least you can stop him from taking a shot. I don't use it often, but it's saved my hide. If you go with a couple snipers, giving one the battle scanner can be okay early on, but once you're set up you snipes should be so far back it's not as helpful

Opportunist -- Eliminates the Aim penalty on reaction shots, and allows reaction shots to cause critical hits.

(boom! this combined with squad sight makes them death machines. again, don't move them, and just put them on overwatch right at the beginning of the turn. anything that flushes enemies will cause cross-battlefield reaction shots.)

Now, the only hard choice is 'in the zone' or 'double tap'. I give one to each of my 2 snipers. 'in the zone' is amazing for taking out a mass of low hp critters that would otherwise swarm you. You can also, with practice and skill, use it to clean up a battlefield of injured enemies with careful sequencing. However, 'double tap' allows you to take down big enemies. Having one of each helps cover both situations.

The other build is the opposite. Snapshot (move and shoot), gunslinger (pistols), etc. It can work decently, but imo the overwatch sniper(s) is superior.

Anyone planning on buying all of the PSN Play games?  I'm just a little bit hesitant because to get the 20% PS+ discount you have to preorder them, which kind of sucks because you don't get to check out any reviews or demos.  Also hesitant on ibb and obb because it's a co-op game and I'm mainly a solo gamer.

Still, the opportunity to get Stealth Inc, Cloudberry Kingdom, and Ducktales for over 40% off at launch (after the rebate has been applied) is very very tempting.

I'm in the exact same boat. Discount is very tempting and I already pulled the trigger on DuckTales. But while I debate which of the other three to get I talk myself into all of them. Not like I need to add more games but DISCOUNTS!

I was going to but then I realized I have a triple digit PSN backlog alone so I went from buying at least three to none.

This, minus the triple digit backlog yikes! My backlog of around thirty games (physical disks and PSN games combined) no longer looks so bad... Says the guy with a two month old PS+ subscription.

In a related note, Everyday Shooter and Critter Crunch. nuff said

Well, half the Play games you can pretty easily inform yourself about. Ducktales, is well, a fairly well known classic. Stealth Inc is a port of a well regarded PC game with a much better name called Stealth Bastard that even has a freeware version floating around.

My backlog doesn't let me take advantage of juicy deals like this...
