I didn't get Plus until Sleeping Dogs came out for it. I like collecting games, so my preference has always been the physical discs. And my Slim 160 GB PS3 just didn't have enough space to take full advantage of Plus. Right after I had subscribed to Plus, I managed to delete and free up 51 GB of space on my HDD. But when I went to add Uncharted 3 to my queue, it wouldn't let me stating that I needed 78 GB of free space (it had a bunch of languages, data and 3D videos). I went ahead and upgraded my PS3 to a 500 GB HDD, so it's all good now. Still, I missed out on a bunch of great games for not signing up to plus sooner for the reasons mentioned above. Can't wait to continue with the service when the PS4 comes out.

Did you guys not hop on PS+ right when the IGC was announced? Is it because you didn't have a PS3 at the time, or you still didn't think it was worth $50 at that time?

I honestly didnt know about it till about October of last year. When did IGC start? July 2012? As soon as I got my VITA (in november) I got PS+ for free for 6 months and also bought a year. I love it.

On another note I picked up Jak and Daxter Collection for VITA yesterday preowned for $11. Hopefully its good. The port doesnt seem that bad for a old game and I loved the series growing up.

It's a bummer that there will only be one PS4 game a month when we're used to an average of four for PS3. Still better than Xbox's zero, but now there's a far less chance it'll be a game I want to play.
True, but around launch there just won't be enough games for them to give away 2-3 per month. Over time I'm sure that will change though, we'll see more free PS4 games and less free PS3 games.

I think the only reason we got PS+ at launch for PS4 is to soften the blow of charging for multiplayer. We didn't get PS+ for PS Vita until 9 months after launch. You can't expect Sony to give away retail release games every month for PS4 when the pickings are so slim that it would had ate into the sale of those games at retail.

Unless they released a bunch of shovelware and that's all they gave away for PS4, that would drive retail sales alright!

I think part of it also a concession towards the lack of backwards compatibility. Long term they're right that it doesn't matter but it certainly can make a difference in adoption rate. This generation start is going to be interesting as well, first time where the current gen is intended to be competitive for 2-3 more years beyond launch and there's a number of very high profile games coming in the next 8 months that aren't going to be on PS4/Xone. I would have pre-ordered a PS4 if it didn't mean having to keep the PS3 as well to play this pile of games.

Awesome! Btw just finished Spec Ops and man I felt like at some point I had enough of it. Cool/weird story, but I just can't see myself replaying it. Dunno how people can even beat it on Fubar :twoguns:
Lots of patience.

If you want to know whether Motorbike is any good, the Giant Bomb Quick Look says it all.
Hmmm, this or Hotline Miami? Decisions, decisions.

I did a a playthrough on normal and that gives a fairly stiff challenge, then replayed it again on Suicide and I think that is the sweet spot once you know all the mechanics. You become frail enough that you need to make use of every trick in the bag (grenades, shift sand traps, blind fire, squad fire, executions for ammo, finding the right position on the map for the best vantage point, etc.) in order to progress, without being too frustratting. On normal you can get through most of the game without having to rely much on grenades and your squad mates.

Yeah I hear ya, I always play on Hard right away and the game pushes it with enemies popping out of no where. Now I am trying to install LBP Karting and its stuck at 92%...wtf!!!!! Did that happen to anyone else??? Man I knew I should have just ran Dishonored :bomb: . I can't turn the ps3 off, so wtf just wait?

Why? Have you beaten Spec Ops on Fubar? Was it harder than XCOM on Ironman?
The game is not that hard on fubar. Ive beaten it twice on fubar. Four times total. Just be patient and be good at the game. Know when to rush and when to hang back. Also be careful with AI commands as the AI are pretty dumb and will charge to kill even if they dont stand a chance so know when to push them.

If you downloaded Spartacus Legends, check your PSN inbox since they sent out PMs about putting out a new version that fixes the bugs along with a redeemable code for 50 gold coins for free, which is $4.99 normally.

spec ops on fubar was... hard, but not that bad.

xcom ironman was harder, imo, but it's a different sort of hard (strat/tactics vs. arcade).

oh, the pain we go through for meaningless plats.

Meaningless? Speak for yourself. All my fake trophies are worth way more than anything I've ever accomplished in real life.

And my mom can't sell them at yard sales when I move out of her basement.

Hahaha terrific. I also always play on Hard, even if there's no trophy for it. Brings me back to the old days when games were more difficult. I always wonder when I see someone with 50+ platinums if they are just cruising through games on easy. That would zap all of the fun out of it for me.

Well you gotta remember that some of the plats actually require you to beat the game on the hardest setting in every game and achieving things that are downright time consuming :oldman:

its not that bad but I just give up on the turret section when you are saving Logo and Adam ( not the one in the mall ) . I need to get back to it :/

Yeah, I'm trying to burn through Dead Space 3 so I can send it to Amazon and figure hey I'll look up the trophies and see if maybe I can get it. Plat requires something like four or five completions on progressively harder difficulties culminating with a hardcore difficulty where you can't continue if you die, plus finding a ton of collectibles. I immediately said no thank you and started the game on casual.

That's true. I am curious then to know if people play through on hard and then go back on easy for trophy cleanup (or vice versa, playing easy to upgrade a character and learn the game and then go for plat on new game plus). I'm certainly not frowning upon any of this, whatever you think is fun is what you should be doing, I'm just wondering. I myself go for trophies from time to time, particularly if no multiplayer is required to plat. I usually just play the entire thing on hard though. One of my plats, God of War Chains of Olympus, I missed a trophy near the end of the game so I cruised back to that point on easy (don't tell anyone). I'm working on a plat on Protoype 2 at the moment as well (wasn't a big fan of the first one, loved the second).

I always play on Normal unless I'm asked to play on Hard. Even with trophy clean up, I'll 99% of the time play it on Normal.

I look at a trophy list before picking a difficulty.  If there are stacking difficulties I play on hard first then clean up on easy.  If there is a new game + and it allows you to start on any difficulty, I play on the easiest first.  I really hate playing  a game 3 and 4 times for a platinum, I'd rather play it once, enjoy it, then work for the platinum.

If there are collectibles that affect stats and abilities, I use a guide (I fucking HATE collectibles) and play on the hardest mode.

Woo, I just got $40 from that vita referral thingie, now I hope stuff I am interested in comes out next week to splurge on. They also gave me 2000 sony rewards points but for some reason I can't redeem them, oh well.

I really like the look of the DW8 avatars, I hope a Da Qiao one comes out eventually.

Ah, too bad I missed that since I talked my friend into getting one too.

no way. while there are some easy plats (csi, hanna montana, etc), anyone with 50+ has done their share of soul crushingly hard games, no doubt about it. most plats are not only tied to completion on the hardest levle, but add in some other hard challenges and sometimes grindy bullshit.

almost all games stack these trophies. so, for example, if you beat it on the hardest setting, you'll get the trophy for easy and medium as well. the games that don't do this are well hated.

i've got my share of plats. anyone interested in them generally checks a roadmap online to see if there are any known issues or glitches, etc. for example, some games don't remember collectables across playthroughs... and knowing that is important.

anyway, this is ridiculously off topic.

um.

anyone know if there is a website that lists release dates for all those vita indies we keep hearing about (lone survivor, frozen synapse, etc)

Noticed that my download list pretty much doubled.  I think it's because the PS+ downloads show up two or three times but I also saw that any videos that I downloaded in the past were also showing back up.  Usually, they would disappear once completely downloaded.  I was able to redownload some old purchases that I had lost when the hard drive needed to be reformatted a couple of years ago and I hadn't backed them up.  This was on the PS Store on the PS3.

Well, finally caved and subscribed to PS+. I've owned a PS3 for a few years but it's my Vita that actually got me to sign up.

So far, it's overwhelming! I'm having a hard time tearing myself away from P4G, but with Gravity Rush, Zero Escape and Knytt Underground all calling my name, I'm pretty much foregoing sleep at this point.

Also really psyched to play XCOM, and I haven't even played a non-handheld game in a long, long time.

I think I've opened Pandora's Box. But goodness me, it's helping me appreciate what a beautiful machine the Vita is... and how lame proprietary memory cards are.

i enjoyed the X com even with it flaws an hope they make a part 2

To assume anyone with 50 plats has to have hard ones is wrong. I know at least 50 of mine (probably closer to 75) were crazy easy and there are a bunch more easy games that I have not played (HM being one of them, although no plans to ever play that one).

Also, there are a handful of games where the difficulties do not stack. The Prince of Persia collection games are the first that come to mind for me. I remember being so tired of those when I was done.

I'm currently playing XCOM right now, and I just can't seem to put it down. Congratulations on getting PS+! It really is a great gaming value.

What is everyone hoping we get for July?

I would love to see us get Okami HD, since Europe has had it for a while. Wouldn't mind getting BF3 or Unit 13 as well.

Okami would be nice or the ICO collection since I have too many other games I need to beat so I can flip to give it the time it deserves before my UK trial runs out.
