Yeah, that's probably the case. Just saying I find it perpetually annoying that there's this shroud of secrecy around some of their sales. Steam shows you when something's 90% off because they know that it will make all the compulsive fence sitters buy it so why not just make it clear.

Oh definitely, especially if it ends up being like $2.50, it was one of those games I missed on GBA but had seemed interesting.
Perhaps they feel showing two different markdowns (such as when there is a different sale price for PS+ and non-PS+) would be confusing.

So is there any way to access those codes you unlocked during the playstation home e3 thing? I thought I took a picture with my phone of my ps+ code, but cant find it. I couldnt figure out where to find that stuff in home...help :(

edit: just informed via message they expired  :censored:

I played some Lego Batman 2 on vita. Its just like the ps3 version but with no open world and the graphics are ok. i think its worth 5 bux. Gonna pick up Aabs Animal on vita now  :whee:    Any word on Lego Chima?

Still haven't actually purchased anything from the sale yet since I'm trying not to spend $47 with most of it on PSP RPGs.

My question is what about the Killzone beta code because I've been trying to register that since I got it and it has never worked.

Ratchet & Clank Collection (PS3) – Regular Price: $19.99 Sale Price: $14.99 PlayStation Plus Price: $7.50

when i add it to my cart it shows 29.99.

None of the summer balsts are giving me the sale prices. Anyone else seeing this?

The beta doesn't start until 8/21, so it won't work until then.

Oh good, I assumed that was going to be the case but then people start talking about expiring codes. We need to manufacture a Frisky Ruxpin toy that you set on your desk and smack around a little and it just dispenses answers to all the dumb PSN questions so Frisky can stop answering them.

Downloading those Atlus games for $7.50 was foolish. Oh well...

WTF. Is it just my ps3, or is Munch's Oddysee causing freezes and hangups with anyone else?!

Also -- I tried the Alice 1 hour demo. First 10 minutes (at the asylum) nearly lost me, but once I got to the first chapter of "Wonderland" I eased up a bit. Certainly not the most polished game, but it's just demented and weird enough that I actually think I'm going to enjoy it.

It's definitely not the most polished game but the design and ideas are definitely worth putting up with the rest in my opinion. That and getting the first game for $4 is worth it to at least experience their take on a famous world.

It's been a long time since there's been an XSeed sale. I wonder when we'll see Lunar, Ys VII, and the Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on sale.

Of all these RPGs, I have no idea which ones to buy. Can someone make me a quick list going from best to worst?

Riviera, Yggdra, Knights in the Nightmare, Growlanser, Gungnir,Hexyz Force, Kenka, Crismon Gem, Class of Heroes, Cursed Crusade

I don't want to buy all of them and see by tiral and error so any advice would be great!

Several of the atlus games are by the same team (Sting) and if you like one, you'll likely like all the sting ones --- if i remember correctly they are -- hexyz force, yggdra union, gungnir, riveria, and knights in the nightmare (note - knights is definitely different than the rest). They also did Baroque on the Wii, if you played that.

This is NOT to say the Sting games are too similiar -- in fact, the ones i played are all very different and unique. But they have the same visual flairs and a similiar style to them, and there are some core systems concepts you'll find familiar, yet explored in different ways. Hard to explain.

I scooped them all up in a heartbeat.

I actually think ALL of the atlus RPGs on sale are worth the price. The only reason i didn't pick up growlanser yet is that i'm already breaking the bank. Watching some gameplay vids on youtube would be a good idea. i watch the CGR ones (classic game room) if available for the games.

other random thoughts --

Yggdra -- highly recommended. really smart combat system.

Class of heroes -- modern interpretation of a dungeon crawler along the lines of Wizardry. solid game. you can lose a lot of time on this. if you like this type of game, highly recommended.

Gungnir --- haven't played, but very excited to. looks like a very solid srpg.

Growlanser -- supposed to be excellent combat systems, but very very heavy on story (like, maybe even a couple hours of reading text boxes before the game really gets going). story is supposed to be good, combat great, but it's a time investment.

I haven't heard anything good about cursed crusade.

Hmm, do I get Lego Batman for PS3 or Vita... Is free roam that special in this game? Is it short for a vita game? I heard the campaign is about 9 hours long.

Edit: Is Star Wars worth it? I heard that the story line is really short.

I absolutely loved Crimson Gem Saga (bought on release). Graphically, it is well polished. Characters follow typical stereotypes and the story is pretty decent. Gameplay can be tedious at times but keeps you drawn in. There was a certain charm to the game that I can't put my finger on but I believe it's worth every penny.

correction to an earlier post of mine:

it turns out early thoughts that Tokyo Jungle Mobile is some sort of turn based strategy game are incorrect.  It's actually very much like the PS3 version, just not quite as complex/fancy.    I haven't tried it yet, but it's getting positive feedback in other circles.

Also, it's on sale this week.   Doubles up to something like $6 next week.  So if you're interested, grab it.

EDIT: NINJA'D ABOVE.

Was actually thinking about buying for the local co-op. How does it compare to Aliens:CM?
It's actually not a bad game, it's just somewhat difficult at points and feels like it drags on at certain spots. Combat in the game is a little different than similar games, you have to be a more methodical with your attacks which I thought helped it stand apart. I played through solo and it was fun, but I imagine coop is a lot more fun.

Also, X-Men or Simpsons for some 4 player couch arcade experience?
That's a tough one. I think X-Men has held up better in the looks department but the variety of great levels in the Simspons is still great.

I'm not a reviewer, muthafucka, what you expect?
Game over man, game over!

Anyone have an opinion of LOTR War in the North?!?

I think it looks good enough that I flipped my sealed copy to pick up again for $5 on PSN. If anyone else picks it up I would be interested in trying some co-op in it since that's supposed to be where the game's the best.

Man I forgot how gorgeous the Trine games are, especially now on an HD TV instead of a tiny laptop monitor. Takes a bit to get used to the PS3 controls when I was used to the PC ones, though. I'm happy it went on sale for barely less than my remaining wallet balance.

Well, finally made my purchases after 12 hours mostly wasted debating them. >.<

:ps3:

Lego Batman 2

War in the North

:psp:

Riviera

Class of Heroes

Yggdra Union

Knights in the Nightmare

Still deciding on Alice, the PoP trilogy, Trine 2, Crimson Gem Saga, and Hexyz Force.  There better not be anymore good sales for a while or that's going to be dipping into my monies for the upcoming big releases.

Before you play, look up how to avoid the game breaking bugs, especially the mirkwood glitch.

Did you miss Simpsons when it was given to PS+ awhile back?

Both are about the same length I think, but always a chance X-Men might go free some time (although that window is probably closing).

I've got a 5-year-old that loves superheroes, so $5 was a done deal for me.

I wanted The Force Unleashed 2 for $5.. but 11GBs? DX mortal kombat was 10 and the entire download/install process was over 3 hours.. >_> maybe I'll just settle for the demo. I hear it sucked anyway. With my backlog I wouldn't play it until 2025 anyway.

I'll agree with those that enjoyed Crimson Gem Saga. That was one of my favorite PSP RPGs, highly recommend at that price (or any price).

SWTFU2 (I love that acronym) is worth $5 if you are a Star Wars fan. As a game it is very short so you can get through it qwuickly then delete it if you need the space on your HDD. The game isnt very good (its average at best) though so anyone not really into Star Wars is wasting their time.

Debating whether to get Gungnir or Growlanser or....both. Little help?
growlancer yes ( just heads up its a point and drag rpg not a stand still game)

have not played gungnir yet on my psp even though i have the umd.... going to be playing it this week to see if the download is worth 7.50

love to see them all on sale for 5.... when was the last time they were on sale and do you remember the prices

yea dont know why its not just redoing it to the same post.........going to have to defrag my system and see what the hell is going on....its not just here but its on another program im running as well

LOL NOW IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING still going to go defrag it going to take a few hours do go missing me all :)

So I think I'll be grabbing Alice, War in the North, Lego Pirates, Lego Batman (Vita), and Book of Memories.

I'm also debating Fight Night Champions.  I have Fight Night 4 in my backlog, anyone know if this game is a huge step up from that one?

Fight Night Champions was awesome and way better than Fight Night 4 imo. Definitely worth it.
