I loooove tokyo jungle. Not something you sit down and "beat", but rather revisit from time to time. It has good couch co-op, too.

Do eeet! I think it's one of those things you need to experience just so you can pretentiously bring it up in conversation. Sort of like watching a classic movie that everyone considers a masterpiece. You may end up disliking it, but nothing to lose at this price and it's extremely short.

Urg!  I have a fightstick for the PC and 360, so I buy all my fighters on those platforms.  Skullgirls has never gone on sale on the 360 as far as I know.  That price is incredible for PS+.  I might have to break my rule and buy it for PS3.  

Come on 360...  You're getting killed by these PS+ sales lately! 

 
Wow, awesome indie sale.  I knew a Dragon Fantasy sale had to be coming soon.  Grabbing that and Limbo, just because of the cross-buy since I bought it on the 360 at launch.

Tokyo Jungle is an absolutely awesome and unique game.  A definite no-brainer for $3.75 if you don't already have it.  These 75% off sales are amazing, starting to make me regret buying games that were 50% off.

Definitely grabbing Dragon Fantasy. That's been on my radar for awhile and can't pass up that price. Hopefully the PLAY promo credit gets added this week so I don't need to add new funds. Though I am tempted by Dyad and Tokyo Jungle as well, so I may have to anyway.

Is there anything that is remotely similar to Tokyo Jungle?  I have had good luck buying games that get high praise in this thread.  The Gameplay videos just look so damn bizarre on that one, I do not know what to make of it.

psn is killing it with all these great sales, there is so many games I want from the upcoming ps+ update tomorrow. I did the quick math and if grab all the games I don't already own from the pax sale list it comes out to $20 even, so I think I'm going to do that.

btw the games are Penny Arcade Ep 1 & 2, Dragon Fantasy Book I, Tokyo Jungle, Skullgirls, Retro/Grade and Dyad.

Honestly? This would be on any shortlist I did for 'game of gen'. Top 10 probably, maybe even top 5. It's so original, so quirky, and despite subpar graphics is an example of how important pure gameplay mechanics are. I absolutely adore it. No game is for everyone, obviously, but Tokyo Jungle is truly a standout game.

For those that aren't familiar -- there's a story mode that teaches the game, but really, it's all about free play. You begin as an animal of your choosing in post-apocalyptic toyko. you're small and weak (and possibly a herbivore or carnivore). You need to find food - hunting/combat is great combination of stealth and ability. Time is your enemy, starvation is always a risk and radiation can be problematic.

Various accomplishments give stat boosts, and as you age you can find a mate (of varying quality). You can die of old age, but instead, if you secure an area to make it safe for mating, and you respawn as a young'in with a fraction of the parents increased stats built in (quality of increases dependent on how many challenges you did, as well as mate quality). These increases are permanent across all future games.

Ultimately, you have an arcade game about stealth and hunting that has permadeath but stats that keep between games. The mechanics are brilliant, the game simple yet complex, and it's basically just one of those games that transcends into greatness.

PS - the mobile version on PSM (so you can play it on vita) is also fantastic, though not the same game. get both.

Haven't  Closure and Limbo already been free for PS Plus before?

Both games seemed very similiar if I remember, those sort of run-in the dark style platforms where the level only lights up as you move forward.

Have Limbo on the 360 and Steam and finished it. Is it wrong to want it for PSN since it's cheap and cross-buy? These sales are just too good sometimes. Lol.

I thought he was one of the easier bosses, believe it or not I had more trouble with the woman before.

That said, the treetops where you get one of the orbs? Play it on your PS3, because you'll throw something. A controller is cheaper than that vita :p
 
can someone give a rundown on Dragon Fantasy? Like, how good is it? If i already have about 20 rpgs to play, is it still worth getting?

he was easy on normal. on hard? he was damn hard, but mostly because of the enemies he summoned, not him himself. javier jaguar proved harder, though. game now plat'd and deleted. last boss is a cakewalk, thankfully.

Dragon Fantasy pt 1 and Spelunky for me this week! Played Spelunky to death on the pc in its original version....can't wait to have it on the Vita on the go.

Dragon Fantasy is awesome, and I only had one complaint...it was too short. But for $2.50 you'll get your money's worth. I hope Book II is a little longer.

Also I hope Book II gets a plat.
 
I cant remember.  Do we know if current PSN games will be playable on PS4?  I cant help but wonder that these sales are coming more often now due to the impending release of the next gen.  Either way I like all these games for under $5 each.

there is no native backwards compatibility for PS3 games on the PS4.

Yes, I'm finding myself trying to resist the urge to double dip on a bunch of things I have on Steam. Uuuuugggghhh, must resist!!

But I can carry in my Vita now, backlogs are always better when you can carry them on your person, it's so cuuuuute! :lol:

PSN games will not work on PS4. I don't think sales like this are as nefarious as some assume (i'm not referring this this quote). Sony doesn't want people mad at them a few months from now when they realize none of their games will "transfer" to the PS4, but I do think they are trying to build up as much of a brand loyalty and ecosystem to help PS4 early acceptance.

I for one can't wait until PS4 comes out and isn't backwards compatible with psn titles from a purely selfish point of view. It will mean less sales to tempt me and empty my poor wallet lol. I'll still be hit hard with vita compatible sales though.

I for one can't wait until PS4 comes out and isn't backwards compatible with psn titles from a purely selfish point of view. It will mean less sales to tempt me and empty my poor wallet lol. I'll still be hit hard with vita compatible sales though.

I guess it depends on the type of gamer you are. I only have one system at a time. I love these PSN sales and will continue to pick up cheap games as they come. I can see this continuing since they wont be compatible on PS4. Once I finally get through most, if not all my Ps3 games I can then jump to a PS4 (or an X1 if it turns out to be better). And by then either the system will be discounted or at the very least the launch games will all be cheap. I did this from PS2 to PS3 and it worked well for me. Ah man, I still remember the first time I played my first game in HD. SO GOOD.

I took a LONG time to make the transfer over to HD gaming. Was really skeptical about how people were saying it was so good and I didn't think it really mattered. Well I finally made the transition and the first game I played was FFXIII (regardless of what people think of the gameplay the game itself was gorgeous looking). When I got to the huge plains area of the game with all the endgame content, I literally just walked around slowly in amazement haha. Ah...good times.

I really can't wait to only have 1 system (PS4) next gen. I think my PS3 and 360 will have to stick around for a bit though due to the backlogs on each system. I've been better about closing the gap currently than in the past, but with Plus and crazy digital sales I feel like I have more content on the PS3 then I've ever had on a console. Hopefully when the time comes I can ditch it and move on. Can't wait to play and buy 1 game at a time next gen.
