:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

What the he'll Sony. Do I really need to create four PSN accounts to play with my family in my own house online? I asked this in the PS4 thread but didn't get the answer I was looking for. I want to just play online without assigning each controller a fake PSN account. Why isn't each controller assigned to my account?
You can't just sign in as a guest?

When I assign second controller to guest my daughter's and I can't ploy online together. This is LBP3. Sony help says each controller needs a PSN account to play online. You can't just turn on and all play on one account like PS3.
Are you talking about local co-op or online co-op? If local, you should be able to sign in as guest (at least for most games, some games require two account even in a local session, because of saves). If online with two consoles, you need two accounts, which is only natural, or else it would be unlimited game sharing.

I just started playing it and I definitely wouldn't say its very good due to the following.

Extremely high random encounter rate

Stomach ache status ailment rng after eating demons.

Oh and the skill tree is kinda irritating since you have to pay to unlock abilities then get exp for them. Just way too much grinding.

Those are really hurting the game for me otherwise if you've played persona is very similar right down to ability names.

Its good turn based combat ignoring when you have to waste a characters turn because they can't do anything. I also Like that ignoring predetermined stat builds you can make the characters the same ability wise. If you go down your elemental weakness at get the the 3rd node it gives you repel ability which is very sweet for those familiar with persona.
it's extremely easy to avoid and/or get rid of the stomach ache ailment. in fact, there's a skill that prevents it (iron stomach). it's only an issue at the very very beginning of the game. and even if you get it at the beginning of the game, big deal, you miss the benefits of eating one demon, which is hardly a big deal.

also, there are cheap items to reduce (or increase) encounter rate.

the skill tree is awesome. yes, it's large. that's a good thing. if you had all the skills from the beginning, what would be the point? besides, don't grind just to get skills -- keep pushing forward from dungeon to dungeon. i max'd out all the skill trees at the end of the game before migrating my save to dds2, but honestly, there's no real need to grind just for skills at any other point. it also means all your characters will generally be quite different as you pursue different trees.

it's a good thing that you're always looking forward to getting the next skill throughout the game. not a negative. the real expensive ones are expensive for a reason -- you aren't supposed to unlock them until you get to the point that they're affordable. later on, earning tons of exp is easy.

great games.

It's local 2 or 3 players on LBP3. When you assign a controller to a guest it will not let you access online community levels without each controller having a registered PSN account. This doesn't seem right. Am I missing something because Sony says I will need these controllers to all have accounts to play online together in my own home.

Those controllers do each need online accounts to play online co-op with you.

[quote name="Ducain23" post="12574729" timestamp="1426653876"]$4.50 is reasonable. Bought it earlier. It'll at least tell you if you like how AC games play on your PS4[/quote]

I beat black flag but I'm in the minority and didn't care for sailing. Does freedom cry stay on land? Lol

It's both land and sea. I like sailing but in these games, it's too complex. I just want to sail the open sea and only press a button or two to use the boat. All the upgrades is rather annoying

affa's talking me into it. I had been doing so well about not buying PS3 games too.
The SMT games (not including persona) are some of my absolute favorite games on PS2. i even think they have solid stories, in part because they take a mature/dark thematic approach and don't have silly romances and talking animals and boys/girls constantly too embarrassed/shy to say what they really think.

Both Nocturne and dds are also just really good dungeon crawlers. Nocturne is superior, but that doesn't make DDS bad. if you're looking for that style of game, i definitely recommend them. they aren't afraid to be difficult, either. (especially nocturne)

I'm the same about not buying ps3 games though. I own them all physical so thankfully am not considering them now... though i did already double dip the devil summoner ones for some reason. when/if ps4 gets ps2 bc i might switch to digital for the rest.

i'm on the fence about south park. i don't even turn my ps3 on anymore, and if i did i have a huge backlog. so even though $5 is a ridiculous price, it still sort of feels like burning a $5 bill.

Personally, I do think DDS is kinda bad, but it's also probably the best "entry-level" SMT game because it is so simple. It's more of a standard JRPG and could most easily convert a poor misguided FF fan into a series worth playing.

Worst part of DDS is that it does one of the things I hate most about JRPGs -- killing off a party member, so if you leveled that one up and neglected someone else, whoopsie daisies!

Also I wish Vita could play Ps2 Classics. As it is, I just rip my ps2 discs to isos and play them with pcsx2, although some games (Nocturne is one, actually) have weird graphical glitches.

I thought the worst thing in DDS was forcing you to use a party member for a boss battle even if they're ridiculously underleveled.

Hmm, I do hate that sort of thing even more now a days.

Isn't it freemium?
Yes. I think my girl would like it though, and the currency is also on sale. But I'm at work so I can't test compatibility.

Also, finally bought Dragon's Crown. That was my # 1 most wanted Vita game, whoo.

Kinda goes hand in hand, really.

(I almost mentioned that but couldn't remember if it actually did that or if it was just the result of said party member death)

BUT! DDS has maybe my favorite SMT soundtrack. Muladhara is my jam.

I'm somewhat surprised that the value of this game has held so well. I'm glad for vanillaware, but definitely surprised. The game is quite fun to play.

Somewhat on topic question... I'd like to get Southpark for ps3, but my 500gb harddrive in my slim is full. Can anyone recommend a larger capacity replacement drive? Also how long does it take to setup a new drive? Thanks!

I've been a PS+ subscriber since early 2012.  I was about to buy Demon's Souls when I saw it was free on PS+ in April 2013.  This is actually the one PS+ title that I didn't add to my account for some reason.  Whaa?  How did that happen?  Souls games are some of my favorites.

IMO you should go ahead and create system user profiles (so they get their own saves and stuff without messing with yours) and PSN accounts for everyone in your house. They cost nothing so you could go super generic or let everyone pick their own user name. If they won't play very often then set the passwords up yourself and keep them signed out if you don't want them online. If you already invested the $$$ into controllers then might as well invest a few minutes and $0 to setting it up right.

........

I'm still resisting the sales... week 3 may be another $0 spend week for me. :D/

I did that, too. I have the disk version, though.

Was thinking about selling my copy of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment on PS1 and just getting the digital copy for my PS3 I got last week.  The OP looks like it says only VITA and Playstation TV compatible though?

Also, is there any difference between the digital version and the disc version?

This WD would be pretty solid:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C9TEBJQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1426699016&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=1+tb+2.5+hard+drive&dpPl=1&dpID=41-08h2FPnL&ref=plSrch

But there's a couple cheaper ones from Toshiba & Seagate I believe on Amazon. Just make sure it's a 2.5 drive, Sony recommends 5400 rpm, I've heard the 7200 can lead to over heating but might just be a rumor.

Also, pretty easy to replace. I've done it in the slim, super slim, and ps4 and all just took a few minutes. Just look up a guide online. Takes longer to reinstall the firmware than to replace the drive.

Sorry, forgot to add that they work on PSP and PS3 by default and Vita/PSTV compatibility is different for each game.

The game itself should be exactly the same as the disc version.

It's quite asinine that AC Liberations HD is nearly double the cost for vita as it is for PS3, especially when it's much older.

Also, could someone confirm if Liberaiton in the America's Collection for PS3 is on disc or DLC?

WARNING, Possible removal & desisting for TxK!

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/atari-lawyers-demand-vita-game-txk-is-removed/1100-6426001/

The PS Vita shooter TxK will not be released on PlayStation 4, PC, Oculus Rift, GearVR, or Android, due to its creator allegedly receiving legal pressure from Atari.

Jeff Minter, who previously worked at Atari when developing Tempest 2000, says the publisher is preventing him from releasing TxK onto other platforms due to copyright claims.

According to Minter, Atari is also accusing him of “deliberately setting out to cash in on Atari's copyrighted Tempest name, by giving my game a deliberately obscure name of TxK."

“They kept hassling us and eventually I sent them sales statements so that they could see for themselves that we weren't getting super rich out of it[The Vita version]. I even tried to point out that if there was any serious money to be made out of it, it would likely be from the ports we were making, and that we were willing to negotiate about obtaining 'official' branding for, if it meant they could at least be released, but we were met with nothing more than intransigence."

He continued: “Even after having shown them that, they are still trying to insist that I remove from sale Vita TxK, even though it's plainly at the end of its run now and only brings in a trickle these days, and sign papers basically saying I can never make a Tempest style game ever again. So no chance of releasing the ports."
Now while I AGREE Atari is right in the game essentially being Tempest, Atari fuck-ing however have REFUSED to work something REASONABLE out with Jeff Miner.

Again, I don't blame Atari for saying https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/txk/cid=UP4461-PCSE00397_00-LLAMASOFTTXK0001 is pretty much Tempest, but it would have been better if Atari just worked something out since Minter did help them with Tempest 2000 back in the day and like the "new" Atari has produced much of anything good besides mobile MEH stuff.

But patent trolls are usually looking to get paid for doing nothing, aren't they? If that was the case, wouldn't they want to cut a deal with this guy, instead of having him C&D?

I was fairly impressed by the Vita version of Liberation. I think it got some unfair reviews, although it certainly wasn't perfect. For a portable game system, I was impressed with the amount of content, the presentation, and the enjoyment I got out of it. This is all completely ignoring the multiplayer part of the game which has got to be the worst thing I've ever seen. I'd love to know if anyone ever gave it more than 5 minutes of trying to figure out what was going on with that.

Thank you for the heads up. I bought the white Vita bundle at launch years back yet to date never finished the game. I know there was a patch or two for it, do you know if it was ever fixed?

I know that I played the VITA version around launch and my save was deleted at one point. Then I started it again, but after they patched it the first time, my save was deleted AGAIN. I never loaded it up again after that. It seemed like it would be a fun portable game. I was thinking of picking it up in this sale and giving it another try on the console.
