Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

I'll let the musician CAGs speak to the quality of the guitar;)

Like I said before, seems like they are doing an in-store bundle instead of selling the official Rocksmith guitar kit. Won't know for sure until it's bought

UPDATE #2: deal is definitely an in-store bundle of standalone guitar + game bundle. Guitar is an Epiphone LP jr with a cherryburst finish and no strap or picks are included. Asked about substituting a different guitar model but bundle price won't activate if you switch it out

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone, with all the positive remarks I will certainly save a bit longer and get the Vendetta, I like the way it looks, too... just wish it was in purple ;)

I just realized that the Dean Vendetta with and without the "Tremolo" is the same price.  Am I correct in assuming that having more is better, or is it likely to get in my way seeing as I'm a dumb dumb? :wall:

 
I have one with the tremolo, but I've never attached it because I've heard that using it causes the guitar to fall out of tune very quickly.

 
I'm about to delve into Rocksmith again tonight after buying two princes. I stopped playing because I felt that Rocksmith was making me sound better than I was actually playing. Does anyone else feel that way? I cringe while listening to the playback after finishing a song.
 
Yes. It's one of the reasons I moved towards playing through my HD500 with backing tracks. Because the "perfect" guitar track is laid over top of yours, it's easy to think that you're EVH or something when, really, you're fucking up evey other note. My advice to ANYONE is to get an amp and play through it outside of RS. It'll make you a better player, by far.
 
I thoroughly enjoy playing both rocksmith and through an amp. Although it's not a perfect solution, in the game I have the music and vocals turned down to maybe about 75 or 80% and my guitar turned up to 100%. Helps me to hear me.

Looks like it just barely happened on the 8th. Funny though that Ballroom Blitz is still available for single purchase.

I'd have gone digital if only I had the space on my 360's HD & if I wasn't such a cheapass. In my mind, anything digital has gotta be alot lower than the physical equivalent. Especially so when I double-dip on titles.

And we're getting to the point where RS2014 should be hitting the everyday price of 30-50 (depending on the bundle)

Yeah - the devs are semi pissed off Bout it. Happened 2 weeks ago in EU, too... We figure they changed the release schedule, too. Usually, those leaks are for the next week. We'll see if they do it again now that it glitched in the US.

Damn right I auto tune, rbarba4. I'm a guitar player, not a singer... :) After using my Vstudio to record some stuff (including vocals), I know that I need some sort of help. ;)

The stock patches suck a little, but it is not difficult to coax some really nice sounds out of one of these units... I use the crap out of my HD500 now that I've learned a little about it.

Of course, there are no stock sounds in the M13, so that goes out the window. It seems like it would be awesome for sheer ease of setting up tones. The set list function is cool - just set the bank up and call it whatever type of music it's set up for and you don't have to set a bunch of pedals for every song you play.

LOL... No idea. If I ever get into a band, I figure it may be an alternative to a huge pedal board if I get a tube amp and don't want to use the presets that I have in the HD500. It's the only reason it's still around here. Other than guitars (5 of them...) and the pedals, I didn't keep much from my BB bonanza. I sold SO MUCH STUFF... Of course, when I say pedals, I mean the HD500, the M13 and these:

MXR is a Custom Shop Script Phase 90 w/ LED.

The EH pedal is a Neo Mistress flanger pedal.

I keep saying that I'm gonna get them out and put them on a board just to play with the sound... and then I turn on my HD500 and don't really need to get a bunch of pedals out. :)

 
Finally getting back some free time in my life, so last night was my first time picking up a guitar since January.

What a twisted mess of FAIL that was :roll:

Fire up the 360 & see that I can't connect to LIVE.  Try to connect and it won't take my password.  Takes a while but I eventually remember that I've got the 2-step verification setup, so deal with it and get connected (about 1/2 hour lost)

Next, I get RS going.  Hop into Learn A Song and I'm not getting any sound from my guitar.  Check all connections and still nothing.  Switch out guitars and now I get sound on the initial strum but it cuts out right after.  

I go thru all my different connections setups (wireless, wired, different guitars, different cables, new batteries) and getting ready to bust open some fresh cables when I notice the DI portal & figs.  Start to wonder if that could be causing issues.  So I unplug the portal and chuck it all into a box.  And everything's working like new (another 1/2 hour lost)

Moral of the story... Disney Infinity hates music!

Oh and man... was i rusty

 
311 will make me happy, but damn have I been spending too much money on DLC. I've probably got somewhere around $150 invested so far.

 
Might be excited for 311 depending on the song selection. I love 311 and even have tickets to see them in august, but their singles are some of their weakest tracks.

Definitely excited for Mastodon. Will buy that pack at launch.

Anybody mention that a few songs are on sale on xbox right now? I'll be getting Albert King "The Sky is Crying" for $2 when I get home tonight
 
Hit up a TRU I don't normally visit to check out their clearance goods.

And I find a 1st Act electric brown-tagged @ $40,  which means $20+tax outta pocket.

So I could either be selfish & grab another game for the backlog or buy this... fix it up... and donate to a local music school.

I'll let ya know how good/bad it is right outta da box.

How many guitars you have now? Remember you having quite a few schecters a while ago. Starting to have too many myself. Started going with hamer guitars now and need to start making room. Have 7 my self right now.

How does rocksmith and bandfuse handel bass? Been wanting a bass since rocksmith release the update. Got down to a cruisebass or a pilot bass but that will open another can of worms an I am running out of space as is.

I started pre RS... Bought a bunch, sold a bunch. Ended up having 5 at the time RS was released. Post RS, I added 6 guitars (net - I sold 2 or 3)...

Shit. I didn't realize until that moment that I have 11 guitars. Geez...

Most of mine (6) are Fender electrics of various types. :)

Really need to get around to moving three of them as I never really play them. That is more to make room for new additions. Really want to pick up a phantom and possibly a standard or centaura.

Really hoping the new harmonix game is real guitar game but I doubt it. Bandfuse is pretty good but has jumps in the difficulty and no practice exercises like rocksmith's guitarcade.
 
picked up some of the dlc on sale, and got back on rocksmith 2014 for the first time in a while. Hope they have dlc on sale each week like the lead up to 2014. 

Also might be worth a mention that i got some ernie ball cobalt strings yesturday, and i'm really happy with them. They sound great, but mostly because rocksmith is picking up notes alot more accuratly (I always had trouble with it picking up on the high e string). I can see the difference the most in the tunning animation where It would jump up and down alot, but with these cobalt strings it's very smooth. Very happy for ~$10 amazon.

Think this is more of an XBLA sale than UBI sale.

Curious to see if PSN does a similar sale this week.

But yeah, I want more DLC sales. UBI can pick up right where they left off the last time

fuck it. I can sell the cable free version for about as much as the digital version on eBay and I never have to switch out a disc again. I bought it. Really, it only cost me $10, since I'm still using the $300 of MS bucks I got in the Xbox one code fiasco. :)

I actually got on and played a bit last night. First time RS2014 had been in the drive in months. Didn't feel like working through a new song from the site I use. Played "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and a couple of the other songs I like to just jam out on... I know that eventually they'll add some more Tom Petty and Def Leppard, so I'll have some shit I really want to learn in the future.

For a first bass I would go with a precision bass. Either a cheap squire vintage vibe or a mim fender standard bass. The p bass will have a nice round confortable neck. The jazz bass will have a thin neck with a tighter string spacing at the nut.
