Has anyone heard if there will be any kind of adjustable difficulty in the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster? I'd love to play it again, but I remember the last guy in X being really hard and I was never able to beat him for whatever reason.

I don't remember the last boss being hard at all, if I remember correctly I wrecked him with the Magus Sisters...

Are talking the final Seymour fight or Yu Yevon? I don't really recall either being all that difficult, especially if you had ultimate weapons.

That's the problem... I didn't have the ultimate weapons and I really didn't want to go get them. I could never get to Yu Yevon because the Final Aeon or whatever kept killing me.

I remember Auron's Banishing Blade Overdrive and Kimahri's Bad Breath to be effective. Slowga on his little helper dudes works too. And use Tidus' trigger command "Talk" on his second form. You could also grind a little to help make the fight easier.

This was like 12 years ago. I don't think I even have that memory card anymore.

Anyway, I take it no one has heard anything about an adjustable difficulty in the HD Remaster then?

I tried the Sazh DLC for 13-2. All it adds is the ability to play as Sazh....in a casino. Play more boring slots, texas hold-em poker, and some confusing-ass card game with a clock that does something. IDK. You have to win a certain amount of coins in the games, then you can buy his kid from the mafia or whatever. Not what I expected at all.

Ok Persona 4
Seriously with Teddy turning into a pretty boy? That's some awful fanfic shit right there
.

This is one of the most WTF moments of the the game but I love it. Teddie makes me giggle with his unBEARable jokes and hitting on women.

You could actually craft your own weapons that were better than Ultimate weapons, and easier since you didn't have to do their respective quests.

I think that's what I remember doing. By the time I went after the final boss I think I had put nearly 100 hours into the game , done all the blitzball stuff, and nearly all of the monster capturing stuff. The last boss was no problem. (I had a few Ultimate Weapons, but not all)

I'm not putting that much time and effort into it again for the HD Version.

I beat X recently and it was a pretty smooth playthrough. Zero side questing and no ultimate weapons, challenging but nothing frustrating. Finished at 30 hours.

Yeah, if you know all the bosses weaknesses and the best boss strategies, then you can beat the game in like 25 hours. My main PT had about 180 hours, probably more on it. I played that game so much during high school.

In other news, I am really enjoying Tales of Vesperia. There isn't a single character (at least playable) that I find annoying. The battle system seems like a perfect blend of Xillia and Graces f. Judith #1 fan.

I think I'm looking forward to replaying Tales of Symphonia moreso than the FF X games. When I played the original on Gamecube I kinda rushed thru it and skipped most of the sidequests. I have never played ToS 2, but from everything I have heard, I don't have high expectations, but I'm still looking forward to seeing how the story carries over.

I tried out Snow's DLC in FF XIII-2, and its basically just coliseum fights and no story. Snow kicked my ass tho. My Serah and Noel are at max level, but I need to train up some stronger monsters before tackling the last 2 fragments I need to collect.

Got a 3DS XL today (thanks to Kmart's price glitch) and I'm downloading the Bravely Default demo now to see what the fuss is all about

I got my Lightning Returns: Cloud DLC code from SE, but no game to play it on. I hope that means my CE shipped.

Just need to figure out if I should get FFX:X/X-2 HD. If only I had the time...

Persona 3 Portable on sale for $10? Guess I know what I'm diving right into after P4G. Planned to do it at some point but the sale just moved it up to top of the list.

I did play FES but the last boss killed me and it really pissed me off because it was a one-hit spell most of the way through the fight, I never picked it up again, I think 4 rekindled my love for the series so I really want to give 3 a go again.

Yeah, those moments where the games' SMT roots shine through can get pretty frustrating. I had a pretty annoying Death fight in 3 where he was on his way out before chain Mamudoon'ing (or something equally terrible) my party.

When going through my download list last night (looking to start something new) I realized PS Plus has given (or at great discount) me about 4 RPG games I've never even touched.

Kingdoms of Amalur

Dragon's Dogma

Ni No Kuma Wrath of White Witch

Tales of Xilia

LOTR War in the North (not sure if this counts)

I'll probably start KoA next because that's the oldest one in the list. It's also the one I expect to be the least enjoyable, so maybe crossing it off will be a quick decision.

I played about 60 hours of KoA, I really liked the combat, but there wasn't much to the story and the fantasy world itself was really generic.

I played about 30 hours of KoA and got very bored of it. The combat is solid, but everything else, like Erad says, its pretty generic.

I played ~10 hours of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and thought it was ok, but the combat isn't that great.

Almost done with FF 13-2. I need to finish Lightning's DLC and then beat the final boss again for the real ending.

I just delete KoA off my system. After about 5+ hours, I wasn't feeling the game at all. Right now I'm just burning through some non-rpg games before I get Bravely Default.  :bouncy:

Yeah looking back I don't know how I even stayed interested for 60, maybe I had nothing else to play at the time?

Yeah, on second thought i may just delete KoA and not even bother with it. Nier is up on my shelf too, but all the other stuff is digital which makes it more accessible.

Nier is an excellent game with a kick-ass soundtrack, but it is a little wierd. I got turned off by the long load times on PS3, but I aim to jump back into it eventually when I've more time.

I enjoyed the story of FF2 moreso than the other 8-bit FF games. The gameplay itself is totally broken, but the story is handled better with more interesting plot/characters/villians than 1 and 3. Do you plan on playing thru the entire Final Fantasy numbered series? I did that about 5-6 years or so ago and it took me almost a year-and-a-half to go from 1 thru 12 (except FF 11, but I counted X-2 as 11).

I liked KoA, but be sure to work quickly through the story quests... the side quests are repetitive and can get boring. If you're gonna side quest, just do the faction quests.

Maybe because FF2's plot is just a terrible version of Star Wars?

FF1 and FF3 have much more interesting and fun gameplay systems though. They're also broken, but at least they're fun.
