nice big-ass post lol
[quote name='drone8888']Question on that though,..... what rating did Leisure Suit Larry get????
If it's only "M",... then the system is totally flawed.
Although, I don't know what can be done with Hot Coffee enabled,... I can't imagine it being worse than LSL. I watched my friend play it,... and it is obsenely pornographic.
If it's not AO,... then GTA:SA shouldn't be.
What is worse though,... letting your kids see nature in action,... or promoting wonton acts of cruelty, and murder???
I'd rather my sons' see people getting it on, than watch them shoot cops.
I try to get as far away from racism as I can,.. .yet it is always looming. Look who owns Viacom, MTV, and most of the media. Then look at the similarities between the owners and the "artists" they portray. Both have had horrid histories, in which they were persecuted, exploited, raped, and murdered.
I used to say,... oh, my friends are confused,.... they are just following a trend. Then,... I noticed how fast things changed. The media was pushing not only the envelope, but the social/moral limits our children were exposed to.
As I used to be quite the thug,.... I realized that it was just a social thing. A cool club I was in. I dated girls from all creeds, hung with the biggest nerds, jocks, and gangstas in the area, and did some really bad stuff in the name of social evolution. Then,... I watched my friends get busted for illegal stuff, including 2 murders.
They weren't bad kids,... they just acted like their idols at the time. In an instant, I realized how impressionable they really were. For all of their hard talk, and even actions,... they were still young kids, following the hymns of false prophets.
I took a different approach to the world after those incidents. I followed my heart, and used common sense. I try to help people wherever I go,... but without forcing my idealistic ways upon them. I try and get them to appreciate other things in the world, other than a certain lifestyle they are accustomed to.
Chappelly says to keep it real,.... and he absolutely right. What is more real than you or me??? Your appearance means nothing, and its what is in your heart that matters most to this world. The media has you tricked into thinking that it's how you look, and behave that'll make or break you.
I feel that that is wrong. Whether or not you agree with me, no matter where you come from, or what creed you are,... it is a deep rooted feeling inside to socialize and be in love.
Not holy rolling here,.... just saying that that "love thy neighbor" stuff isn't just fluff.
A lot of you have been through some rough times, and have had terrible experiences. You are mad, sad, and uneasy when faced with the most insignificant situations. So next time you flame someone on the internet,... just ask yourself why you have so much contempt.
I'll tell you,... I grew up listening to classic rock, jazz, and oldies. Then I moved to hardcore rap,... then to metal, then EMO. All of those styles bring out emotions in a person. Perhaps not to all of you,.... but I think it's safe to say the majority of you get "something" from your particular tastes in music.
Well,... I don't hate my mom, I don't sell drugs or do them, I don't dance, and can't find the time to play an instrument. Although,.... when listening to a certain performer do their thing, I feel compelled to act out for them. When I watch their music videos, I get a feel for what they are going through,... or what they want me to beleive. I can relate to almost all of it,... and that's called good marketing.
Now, games are the focal point of nation. How is a game so different from music??? Or a video??? It's that parents never had to think about video games, as they were never privy to them. Now, they have another medium to consider. If they take the time,... like they do with other forms of media, this stuff wouldn't be a problem. If a kid wants something these days,... they can get it.
It's up to the parents to prevent them from making a purchase. To instill in them, what they feel is acceptable. If the kid chooses to stray away from his upbringing, then let it go. You can't make someone be something they're not, right. In time, they may see that what the world is dishing out to them is total garbage, and create their own set of beliefs. Or,... they may accept everything they are presented with, and live a branded lifestyle.
Why is it up to the government, how we should be???
Not trying to sound like a communist,... but in a free world, we should be free, in mind and body.
If a kid is buying GTA, it's his/her right. When censorship comes into play, you take away rights.
If a rich kid wants to be a gansta rapper, so be it. If the child of a minister feels the need to virtually kill hookers, I say, let ho-slapping commence.
Sorry to go on like that,... I'm hopped up on a "legal" drug, called Mountain Dew.
BTW,... my son thinks the bike riding is the best part of the game. Too bad he can't ride his own yet. That's where the real fun is.
