This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

It would also be cool to have a disappeared games list w/ its own number of games listed where I could say, "Yup, I own some Steam-versions of games that ain't on Steam anymore."

Basically, more bragging rights.

It's a lot better than games just disappearing off Steam + those games don't count anymore b/c Valve + dev/publisher cut ties.

Sure it hasnt been in EA hell forever, but it has been 2 years and was supposed to be released almost a year ago, if a year overdue is not in EA hell then what is? No sane person was expecting a perfect game that ran well from the get-go, but when you tell people you are one month out from release they tend to expect release candidate quality builds to have been available as EA/Beta for a few months at least and at this point it should be in bug fix mode, not 'lets start optimizing now' mode

Yeah valid point on hardware specs. Hard drive space is off too I think. Game would be over 100 GB with all maps I believe. Just saying that some optimization has been done.

Myster D, even with a 1070, it runs like crap at time for me. There are alot of problems with ARK. However, like Daykain stated, you can find mods to get a version that you might like to play. I have played with friends on non-official servers with the main problem being that sooner or later the person hosting the server leaves and all that progress does not carry over to another server. You can find servers that will let you concentrate on building while others are concentrating on PVP. I have mixed feeling about the game. Can it be fun? Yes, especially in multiplayer with a group of friends. Is the game really "ready", polished or optimized? No.

If you like building and having fun with friends try it out. You can try single player as well, I just don't think it is as good without interacting with other players vs just the dinos.

I also have a 1070 and it runs fine for me for the most part with high settings. I get the occasional freeze though. Have a super low end server with an e8400 CPU and 6GB RAM that hosts a few players and handles running scorched earth and the island at the same time if I need to transfer anything. There can be minor rubberbanding at times though. One of my kids have a m265 video card and it runs at medium settings with minor tweaks and around 20 fps which is not great by any means but is still playable. Patch 259 helped make things run a bit better from some of the optimizations they did then. Like I said before, it is far from optimized but it is not unplayable or I wouldn't have 500 hours in the game. Non-dedicated servers were quite taxing on the machine and there was a limit on how far people could be away from the host player. Not sure how it is now since I used that setup before patch 259.

ive got a 6 year old i7 and a 390x and the game is perfectly playable with good settings. its not butter smooth 60fps but its not choppy either.i only turn down sky quality and ground clutter low and leave everything high


So is anyone here still playing this? Id like to play again and see the new stuff but not really interested in vanilla, or grinding a lot

Ok, if the use of non-dedicated servers was a part of the problem, then that would explain some issues I experienced. Sorry, but I have experienced stuttering and other effects. I have not played since 5/21, perhaps I can give it another go.

 
We didn't do too bad for a group of bros playing a popular and competitive MP shooter.  YCag, Keeper, Kyanos, and DviceT5 (of WGN fame) joined us for a great night of PUBG.  The game is just really awesome (as anyone who has played it can probably attest).  we had a 2nd and 3rd place finish, but no Winner Winner Chicken Dinner this time.

So I may have picked up House party for ... Science.. Its not completely awful but needs more polish. Maybe I am just not very good at it but it took me 3hrs to get through one girls 'quest line' and I don't even know if I can get other quest lines finished without restarting. 

I did find this after trying to figure out how the hell to progress so if anyone else is going to test the game for science...

I just saw that NBA Playgrounds is 45% off $19.99 $10.99 over at WinGameStore. Looks like it's a flash sale and it ends at midnight pacific time. The recent Steam Summer sale had it at $13.49. Just an FYI if anyone is interested.

Woo! Was able to refund my summer sale purchase and rebuy, saving $3 with the 5% off code. Price is still live despite the countdown yesterday.

I've been a bit busy the last few days so I didn't look to see how many games I was missing or make a haul list. I might do a haul list but likely won't... I probably spent about a 100-125 bucks like I do most steam sales. I just wish it went farther than it does anymore. (Without doing math I spent more than I normally do.)

Anyhow, I have 1602 games according to my steam itself while my profile says I have 1584. So 18 games? Sounds about right. I've never been one to chase +1 via really poor games.

You know, I am so over all the shenanigans that get pulled with videogame music. Either the contracts these publishers are signing with musicians are all crap, or they are just too cheap to renew them. Regardless, I feel like once I have purchased a game and the rights to its associated music, no one should be able to touch my fucking game.

To date, no movie studio has come to my house to take music out of my movie DVDs. Get with it, videogame guys, and stay the hell away from my game library music people! :speaktothehand:

I just finished 11th out of 97 on PUBG.  And I totally didn't spend 30 minutes running from shed to shed hiding while everyone else killed themselves off.  And I totally didn't die the first time I tried to kill someone despite me having the jump on them and shooting them from behind.

Well, that article leaves out that what Dion actually found objectionable was the murder and dismembering and stuff.  So unless you're one of those people who equate casual sex to murder, there's not really an equivalence argument to be made.  Also breach of contract where he was supposed to be afforded the chance to review any ads featuring his music before they went out.
