If that doesn't work, I mess with the compatibility modes until I get something to come up. If it shows an error, as long as I don't close that notice, Steam considers the game to be running and gives me cards.

Since nobody asked, FlowBox update:

It works! Although it took me four attempts.

#1 - powered on for 0.5 secs then off again. Turns out I only had one part of the four-plug CPU power lead plugged in.
#2 - RAM error. Fixed quickly.
#3 - No CPU fan error. I plugged it into the wrong part of the mobo. (But now my chassis fans don't work, which I need to sort out tonight)
#4 - Booted into BIOS/UEFI. No SteamOS yet, that's coming tonight.

Cables are an absolute mess though, I bring shame on PC family. Must try harder.

I liked Far Cry 3. I liked Far Cry 2 as well though and didn't realize until later that I was supposed to hate it (based on popular opinion). I'll readily admit to the annoyance of the malaria thing and the insta-respawn posts.

Far Cry 3 is much like FC 2 but it fixes the worst aspects. No malaria, no instant respawn checkpoints you need to drive through constantly and the world itself is more overall accessible. The plot is serviceable for an action game (first half is better than the second half, storywise). Nice looking lush tropical world, the wildlife is a nice touch. Weapons handle well and some non-shooty fun times like flare guns to set a camp on fire or rolling a jeep covered with explosives into an enemy checkpoint.

I'd say the AI can be weak. It's far too easy to crouch in a bush and become invisible. It's open world but it's not an RPG -- aside from finding collectibles, little upgrade quests (hunting missions, mainly) and just hassling people, there isn't much off the beaten path. Some tedious plot based bits. But overall worth the money in my opinion. Can't speak for the deluxe edition as I only ever played vanilla.

As spoder pointed out to me, it hit 66% off for the first time in the last Winter Sale, and since Metal Slug 3 (the only other SNK game on Steam) got bundled, could get bundled.

If you want it for 75% off, best chance seems to be this year's Winter Sale. I'm gonna hold off 'till then myself, despite it being pretty high on my wishlist. If it doesn't hit 75% off there, I give up.

We've just installed a new colour printer at work. It's a HP LaserJet Color M451.

Start using it, and it asks me to authenticate my printer cartridges online.

DRM on printer cartridges.

Wat.

I can't honestly think of any reason for them to need DRM on printer cartridges other than to mess with your head.

Lol... it was several years ago when I purchased Ikaruga for the GameCube for nearly $40+ and thought it was too much. But at $2.50, that's very good... I should have waited as I purchased it a few days ago at $4.99. I do hope that Jamestown goes down in price soon.

I hope people get a Jamestown sale as well, I honestly like it better than Ikaruga. The multiplayer challenges in particular are a blast.

That said, if Ikaruga doesn't win the community vote, I will burn down the steam community's childhood home. RIP pete holmes show.
