Street Fighter x Tekken (PS3/360) $18.99/$19.99 at Amazon
I think its also important to add that if we want to believe what developers tell us, then even the fact that they were on the disc isnt a big deal. Capcom said that although the character polygons and art assets were on the disc, there was no data for their moves or balancing completed when the game launched. A big part of the work for the recent patch was creating the characters gameplay. The game is definitely an expensive one with all the DLC, but it plays amazing in my opinion.

It combines footsies and patient SF traditional play with incredibly easy to link combos. I love that combination.
Hackers on the 360 version were already able to hack the characters for play. They were complete and usable prior to them officially being available to everyone else
It didn't really get any bad reviews. Its has a solid 84 metacritic score. The backlash came from the "internets" due to the dlc being on the disk. There are other issues like in all fighting games, but try it out. Its a very fun game.
Thanks for clearing that up, then.

The real backlash from the serious Capcom fans wasn't the DLC being locked on disc, or the horrible reality show with sexism, but the fact that the game itself was really unfinished. While they've been nerfed due to fan feedback, the "pay to win" gem system is a slap in the face to any longtime fighting game fan. It's everything that shouldn't exist with fighters. Skill, a gameplan and execution determines wins, not how much extra you're willing to pay to have the game block for you.

Pandora mode is a gimmick and useless in serious play. The game has a few ridiculously powerful characters, and it just is a very flawed example of Capcom making a 2D game.

They really squandered their tie in with Namco IMO. This game will be 10 bucks within a couple months, it's universally 20 now.
Usable maybe (just looked it up). Complete no way.
They were 100% complete. The day the characters were available to download it was about a 100k download as a $20 unlock code. Check every video put up the day the game was hacked and you'll see the moves, links, combos, and outfits are the same ones that are on there now. The patches made to the game since then were nerfs/changes to some of the existing cast and the complete destruction of usability to the scrub gems.

Absolutely true. I have friends with modded Xbox's that downloaded them early, and downloaded them legit when available. There was NO difference.

This doesn't seem to be a universal price drop. Still $39.99 on Gamestop.

Ah ok. I've seen it at Target for 20 on clearance. Regardless, it's a decent at best game with a lot of baggage. It will drop further unless you're really wanting it now.

considering a lot of the original characters got their hitboxes changed, frames adjusted etc..., yea im completely sure the dlc characters were totally complete when they were put on disc... /s

Capcom decided to take a page from EA with the horribly costumer-unfriendly gems which should be reason enough for them to get hate. Along with poor gameplay and "disc locked content", every fan owes it to themselves to look elsewhere.

It doesn't matter if they were tweaked to perfection. If people were able to play matches with them online then they were complete. End of story.

um that happens to most modern fighters. Stats and tweaks are made accordingly once the game is released to the general public and they gauge feedback on what works and what doesnt bc its inevitable that some characters are over/under powered, glitches come up, etc... The DLC characters were all playable and as complete as the original ones

yea i see your point, guys. i did not like the DLC move but for some reason did not mind as much as the vocal anti-SFxT team on the internet, I avoided the game until the first major price drop (19.99 with reward zone coupon; proof in that thread of my finally deciding to purchase), but will happily play the game now because it is a great fighter.

I will get back to the point of the website and say it's a great deal for 18.99. you all spoke and the market listened. :applause:

I always wonder how big a company has to get before we consider something gouging and not just supporting development costs. i was always more vocal on SRK about the gems DLC costing too much and not the DLC characters. (which I still complain about rationally to capcom every industry event I get the chance to)

Presumably, since none of us are on the dev team, i'll just assume everyone on here is right. the hacked characters were finalized, no work was done to update that part of the roster at all, and capcom's ceo was stroking a cat with a metal arm.

For the people on the fence, it doesn't replace my SSFV play time but it's a TON of fun!!

@havok: yea dude that makes sense and as a FG fanatic, i'm well aware. it's a good point. but i was referring to more than just gameplay tweaks which were claimed. i never played the hacked characters so I don't know that it was just the balancing or if there were other changes. for some reason when that hacked thing came out i never heard/read anyone detailing combo info, frame data, etc. i was under the impression that they were far from finished. i acknowledge i could be wrong and capcom may have lied.
