So I was going out to my balcony this morning to smoke and found a rather large spider web blocking my doorway. Almost instinctively I took out my lighter and proceeded to burn the web away. I then realized that, hey, I would have never known to do that had I not played so many Zelda games over the years. Any similar knowledge that you have gained from playing games?

One time when on the express way I had to swerve out of the way to avoid some junk that had fallen out of a truck, my reaction time was amazing! My heart was beating like crazy, the first thought in my head was wow, I was really lucky. The next thing that ran though my head(which I also said to my wife) was that my reaction time was so quick, it must have been because of all of the Burnout Revenge we were playing at the time...

I learned that i can steal cars, run over pedestrians, go on a killing spree and get away with it all if i go home and change clothes. Thanks GTA!

Or go get your car repainted. Even if the cops see you go into the body shop, when they see a different color car come out, they just forget all about it.

I learned that if Bo Jackson didn't damage his hip he would have ended his career with 100,000 yards rushing and 3000 touchdowns.

Generally you will survive getting shot by sniper, as long as you take a few seconds to rest before continuing on. Unless it was a headshot, it is so obvious you would die then.

One time when I was sneaking out of class, the halls were being monitored by teachers. I was spotted, so I hid in a locker until the alert died down. I dropped a porno mag on the ground to distract a teacher, killed him, and stuck the body in a locker. Thank you video games!

I learned that alot of people on Xbox Live don't get any attention during the day so they come on and spout utter garbage and nonsense.

dood I learned hella life lessons from Street Fighter!

let's say you're in a position to make a move, so you can make a move... let's call it A.

but your opponent may know you very well and know you like to do move A so he anticipates it with counter move CA.

thus knowing he knows you are going to do move A and counter it with CA, you can do move B instead which would beat out his CA.

but then your opponent who thinks you may indeed do that will prepare yet another counter for your move B, called CB

so... if you're already on this level and you think your opponent is going for CB you would instead use a move that would beat CB... which brings you back to move A.

now... the thing is... while all this is going on in both your and your opponent's heads... time is still passing!!! You do not have all day to think about what to do thus you need to make a quick decision based on all past experiences, the current situation, risk calculations, gut feeling, etc.

also... it also shows that instead of going for flashy shyt and having a large arsenal of moves, you can jus stick to a very small yet effective toolbox to get yourself thru your problems.

so yeay... that's my life!!!! SKILLZ!

Damn it, I came here to post this. Also food found lying on the ground is not only delicious, but nutritious as well.

I learned that cakes are not to be trusted; also, wearing a raccoon suit turns someone into a Ksitigarbha statue and will make them invincible.

I didn't exactly learn anything, but the original Shenmue made me want to drive a forklift.

Sam Fisher showed me how to pick a lock.

I learned that I can do Hadokens if I focus my rage into my arms. I also learned how to be a FAMILY MAN

In all seriousness...

I learned a little bit about the airline business from the Aerobiz games back in the day.

I also learned more about planes via Flight Simulator.

I actually practiced shifting on Hard Drivin and Race Drivin cabs when I was in my early teens. It came in handy when the time came to learn how to drive a real stick shift. Of course, the real thing requires much more accuracy than a game of that era but still, it was better than nothing.

Too bad I was never able to master the loop in manual gear mode. I could never figure out the proper shifting for that.

aerosol can + lighter = fun
two guns are better then one
shoot zombies in the head
how not to drive
you can use a severed leg as a weapon if one can be found...

Are you sure it's not because you're not able to get to Pizza Hut in less then 30 Seconds?
