Super Street Fighter IV - Arcade Edition DLC Out Now & Retail Disc Out Now!

What I want is the Super Street Fighter IV Newb Edition. I'd pay for that. Press a button (or buttons) to pull off different moves instead of having to do controller gymnastics. I don't suppose such a mode is in the Arcade Edition DLC, is it? I presume not.

It's called Super Street Fighter IV- 3DS. Touchscreen press for shortcut commands.

But no. There is no such mode in AE.
 
So what will the retail disc be? Will it be Super with a voucher for the DLC? Or will the DLC come on the disc? Also was it confirmed if you get the disc if its an all new set of achievements?

Confirmed by thorin on Neogaf. You get a "Data is corrupted" message if you have the GoD and the AE DLC. It might be patchable later, though.

I don't think that's been revealed yet. Super with DLC seems likely, like RE5 Gold, but it could be included on the disc. The disc version won't net you additional achievements though. Only Super's achievements + AE's achievements.
 
I really like how they gave full stats + titles in ranked mode. It shows your current BP/PP points and the world ranking for your PP and BP for that character. So far i felt like 1 match against a yang was a joke. So much damage output from him. Haven't seen a good Yun yet online but I only played for 15 or so matches. did go 12-3 which is decent then again not too many good players online

Onis teleport slash move that switches sides...do u need to block the other way? I was blocking low and kept getting hit on the EX and heavy slashes. It doesn't look high so it crosses you up? Played online 2 Onis, one guy used it. the other didn't. I know that Evil ryu's axe kick is low but looks high, only the EX version is high.

From what I've read and experienced playing Oni is his hard and EX slashes cross-up. Hard is pretty slow, so you can probably hit him out of it or throw him. EX is pretty quick, so I think the only real option is to block it. Oni seems like a pretty interesting character to me but I have no idea how to use him.

I've actually seen more E. Ryus and Makotos than I have Yuns in ranked. The Yuns I played weren't that bad, but I can really see some of his tools becoming a problem.
 
My friend told me you can crouch tech/mash short during Oni's crossup slash. I'm not sure if he meant both the hard and EX version though.

I've been playing around with E.Ryu. Probably going to stick with Abel/Cammy, but he's actually pretty good. Very fun to use. I could see some bad matchups for him though... Makoto is already looking terrible (hard to get in-- do I want to get in? Can't zone with Mak's U2 stocked... ugh)

Just bought SSFIV on clearance. Oh well - kinda surprised this would happen, but not surprised at the same time. At least I'll be able to understand the game better if I want to play casuals or tourneys.

Haven't gotten into tourneys for awhile, but they can be fun. I'll get my ass handed to me for sure though.

It's hard to keep up with fighters when you play lots of RPGs and other games + have life to contend with.

Why would they remove Vanilla? SSF4 I can understand, but not Vanilla.

Wow I feel so played. I had wanted full digital but I have AE dlc now. Fail.
 
And holy crap is Fei Long over powered. I can see tons of people screaming for him to be nerfed.

I won 8 out of 10 matches with Fei Long and I was pretty bad with him in Super Street Fighter IV. No real deep combos, just throwing out some fierce attacks with decent timing and doing his special moves. His damage output is unreal and he is ultra fast. The only two character that gave me a hard time were also powerful - Yun and Makoto.

Makoto is a fucking beast in this game to. I have a friend on my friendslist who destroyed me with Makoto in SSF4 so I'd hate to imagine how well she does with the new Makoto in this version. Yun is just plain powerful but I'm OK with that.

Very salty comments over using Fei Long in this game.

I'm still seeing vanilla and Super in the marketplace. AE is still separate DLC. The games on demand version of Super didn't work with AE DLC at first, and it's just been updated to work with it. I don't think AE replaced it.

To further confirm this my friend bought SSFIV which had the box art for arcade edition as a digital download. Not sure who he is contacting about the situation but will probably have to spend the $15 to get the Arcade DLC.
 
Overall I'm not really impressed with AE. It seems like a major step backwards because of Yun and Yang and the over-abundance of bad changes. The lack of Trials for the 4 new characters is also discouraging to players since you have no real reason to try and play them other than to try and be part of that crowd.

4 new playthroughs of Arcade Mode is okay, but beyond the 40 minutes or so you'll spend doing that, AE really doesn't bring much else to the table that excites me. I'd rather continue to play Super over AE.

looooool; AE isn't for people who want new trials and to play through Arcade mode.
 
I'm sort of debating

30$+ dlc or hope the pc version is good from steam(i see pc having better net code and sure there are some drivers so can plug the xbox TE stick in and fight away hehe). if i get it on xbox tho it's going to be the direct to drive because im sick of using cd's and losing em on every freaking online game i play a lot hehe:)

Wondering the same , I was hoping they would throw the DLC costumes on there too but that is a pipe dream at best.
 
I'm assuming they're the same since it's just DLC + SSFIV, but anyone know if the achievements on the SSFIV disc and SSFIV AE disc are the same?
 
I opened the package, didn't realize what it was. I'll have to see what it costs to ship back to Amazon when I get home. I was content to wait for both the console retail versions to hit 20 bucks or so and get it on PC at launch for $36.

Returning to Amazon is easy and free. Just pick a good reason, like it didn't arrive on time or something.
 
Actually I think as long as you don't open the actual item you can return anything within 30 days for a full refund. Their customer service is real good.
