Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2
speaking of titles with district i remember seeing this movie i really like about two years ago --District 13
whOa, need to see that. Looks pretty entertaining! Can't believe I haven't heard of this movie. Thanks!
It's truly an underrated action film along with Equilibrium.
I love Equilibrium but... "sense offender" is and always will be hilarious to me. lol

ThanksKilling - Hand puppet turkey attacks college teens. Very much a comedy/horror film. The duration of the film is perfect at 66minutes. Its hard to find yourself bored with the movie. The problem with these joke type horror films like gingerdead man2...the joke wears off around half way through and it become dreadfully boring. ThanksKilling's turkey joke murdering people does die off in the middle but it finds other ways to make you laugh later in the film. For a movie that is intentionally made bad for your enjoyment, it does its job well. Hard not to recommend this if you are a fan of bad horror films.

edit - ThanksKilling is up on netflix streaming.

Star Trek

I watched the Blu-Ray version this time. Still an awesome movie, even after already having seen it 3 times.

District B13

After seeing people talk about it here, I went and watched it on Netflix Instant Watch. It was pretty much straight up action, but they did a really good job on it. Especially with the all of the free running scenes.

Time After Time - Malcom McDowell is H.G. Wells and has created his time machine but Jack the Ripper uses it to go into the modern day (1979). Wells must hunt down Jack the Ripper and bring him back. At first I thought the movie was going to take itself seriously but then the film embraces the farce comedy of this 1890's British man in the modern day. The film ended up being pretty funny. Worth checking.

best line in the film
[as Wells and Amy are kissing on Amy's couch, she begins to remove pieces of his clothing - first taking off his glasses, then unfastening his collar]
H.G. Wells: Amy, I don't want to compromise you. Are you quite certain I'm not forcing you to...
Amy Robbins: Forcing me? My God, Herbert, I'm practically raping you.

Funny People

Funny movie. However, I think it went downhill a little when it went from him thinking he was dying, to him trying to get his ex-fiance back.

My thoughts exactly. Good first hour, the rest was crap.

Yeah, it was pretty good. NEED Soundtrack.

Inglourious Basterds - I thought it was pretty good, was surprised by the ending. Not the best QT movie thought.

Gamer - Pretty bad, but that was what I was expecting.

Taken - Pretty intense towards the end but Maggie Grace as a 17 year old is just silly. It's like the directors told her that in order to seem younger, she should run everywhere in the movie. Still, worth a watch if only to see Liam Neeson channel Sam Fisher (ie old, angry, retired ninja).

The Haunting in Connecticut - Not much to say about this one. It isn't scary but it isn't unwatchable. It drags on a bit too long. Some very graphic parts if you want (or don't want) to see body parts get cut off.

Death Proof- I thought there was too much talking. I liked it overall.
Alien- A little dated for a horror movie, but still liked it.

Saw VI - alright now just STOP MAKING THESE fuckING MOVIES ALREADY!! Its like their literally pulling at any last piece of story from the first three films.

Time Traveler's Wife- I still don't understand the movie's time-traveling philosophy. They know they time travel and are aware of it and meet each other. Its all very confusing.

Hey, I figured that this is as good a place to ask as any.

I need a movie that will...

1. Make my fiancee like me more/forgive a boneheaded move on my part.
2. Isn't the Notebook as I've sat through that about a million times.
3. Is available via Netflix in some way, shape or form.
4. Doesn't involve John Cusack because I hate him.

Thanks CAG!

EDIT - Oh, before I forget. I saw Sunshine Cleaning yesterday. It was worth a viewing. Not much else to say about it. I don't know if I buy the two main characters as impoverished housekeepers and slackers respectively. They're pretty well made up and perfectly coiffed for the whole movie.

^lol ur screwed.

Quantum of Solace - 7/10

Not as good as Casino Royale, but Daniel Craig is the best Bond ever. Also it in Blu Ray helps.

Star Trek - Wow just awesome! Everything I hoped for and more! At the end of the movie it left me wanting a sequel. Perfectly cast! I would love to see more journeys of this Starship Enterprise crew.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - It was fantastic(no pun intended). Some very cool stylistic moments visually and good voice acting. Highly recommended.

man you must be a mind reader-cuz that is my thoughts exactly really like the flick and liam but that "lost" chick was running around WITH her arms flapping behind her trying hard as hell to look 17.

SO I WATCHED G.I.JOE AND I ACTUALLY REALLY LIKED IT BUT THEN AGAIN I WAS DRINKING WITH TWO OF MY FRIENDS-so i DONT KNOW IF IT WAS REALLY THAT GOOD OR WAS JUST THE LIQ. but if your of drinking age and grew up watching gi joe throw it in when you have friends over.

THE USUAL SUSPECT one of my fav movies of all time

GHOST---ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND---SORRY THATS THE ONLY TWO MOVIES I CAN THINK YOULL LIKE AS MUCH AS HER WHILE WATCHING. REMEMBER SEEING NOTTING HILL AND LIKING IT AS WELL. CANT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE NOT A BIG ROMANTIC MOVIE GUY but those movies should be available and where pretty good.

OR YOU CAN MAKE IT WORSE AND WATCH BROKE BACKMOUNTAIN--wich incedently was a good movie too

SEINFELD "not that theres anything wrong with that"

Eternal Sunshine huh... hmmm. I'll look into it.

New Jack City - Decent urban crime drama/Scarface in the early 90s in NYC. The best part is seeing Chris Rock as the inspiration for Dave Chapelle's "Tyrone Biggums" crackhead character.

I do highly recommend Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You should definately check it out, even if it isn't for your girlfriend but just for yourself.

Ice-T and Judd Nelson FTW!

couldn't agree more. watch this movie, whether or not you're with your lady.

I was surprisingly entertained by GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Turned off my brain and it was a good time at the movies. As long as you don't go with someone who will bitch the whole time about the realism.

Movies that I thought were better then what I was expecting:

GI Joe 7/10 (first half was really good, second half went down hill)
Paranormal Activity 7/10

and the opposite, movies people say are good but arent that good

Star Trek ( I actually fell asleep during this in Theaters, its one of the overrated movies in a while) 5/10

Punisher: War Zone - 8/10

This is the second time I've seen it except this time it's in BR. That and a brunette Julie Baez makes this a WIN. Oh, yeah. Gratuitous Violence too. xD

Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day. Great movie. Even better if you saw the first (although not necessary). And for all you fans, it directly sets up a sequel at the end. :)

I'm halfway through...

Letters from Iwo Jima

It's pretty awesome so far. Oddly way better than Flags of Our Fathers despite Clint Eastwood directing both (I think). I think the presence of known actors in Flags really hurt it. The whole point of the book that it is based off it to show the sort of 'everyman' nature of the Marines and Corpsmen that raised the flag on Iwo Jima and in many cases, died there afterward. Having (allegedly) hunky Ryan Phillipe there sort of impedes any kind of immersion in the story.

In summary, read Flags of Our Fathers and (barring some horrible second-half breakdown), watch Letters from Iwo Jima.

That's exactly my feelings as well. I was fully expecting to enjoy Flags of Our Fathers much more than Iwo Jima, but in the end Iwo Jima is a much better film.

It's Thanksgiving, so I've been catching up on movies at grandpas house. Watched:

Eastern Promises
Repo Man
Jumper
B13
Star Trek (new one, quite awesome)
Altered States

Resident Evil Degeneration (I forget if I've seen any good movies lately. Saw this back in December or January).

Ninja. If you have seen everything already then this is a good one if you are a fan of the old American Ninja or any ninja movie of the 80-90s.

Gamer. Though it was going to be real bad but it had it moments.
