The Guild Wars/2 Topic *Its Out All the Way Now!*

After playing about 13 hours of the beta, I am very, very impressed with what they've done with Guild Wars 2. Spent like 3-4 hours just playing WvWvW and it was so much fun; my server dominated the other two. Before we all got kicked to Lion's Arch because servers we're migrating or something, I saw the scores and we were around 96k :)

the red faction on my server got absolutely raped. when it shows the little pie chart thing green had like 75%, blue had 25%, and red literally had 0 points.

i'm up to level 18, still trying for 30 but i doubt i'll make it that far unless i discover a really nice spot for exp. i finished the queensdale map which rewarded me with a light armor shoulder piece, a heavy armor chest piece, and a mystic key, which is stupid because as an engineer i use medium armor...

got a bunch of footage and i'll be putting together a montage of cool stuff i've seen when the event is over.

Completed the 3 starter area maps (hearts, skill points, etc.) Made a good chunk of money selling onions, got to level 125 Cooking, did the jumping puzzles, did some PvP and WvWvW (my world is trash), and generally had a great time today.

Even with all that, I only made it to 25. Doubt I'll have time to grind out 5 more levels for the Dungeons tomorrow.

Oh well, I did find White dye :)

Maybe someone can help me. I have a 430w PSU and a ATI 4850 (512mb) @ 625 mhz. My GPU heats up to about 98c when I play graphic-intensive games and my computer crashes. Is my GPU going back or has my PSU lost efficiency and doesn't have enough power anymore?
maybe someone can help you but why did you ask in the guild wars thread?
Because I was thinking about pre-ordering GW2 (fan of the first game) but just encountered this problem.

Dang that White Dye does look nice! I find it stupid that Dye is character based and not account based. I understand that it will be a good source of income for ArenaNet since tons of people like experimenting with colors and stuff, but it's just too expensive - up to 400 color dyes per character... I'm glad they drop ingame, but it's still completely random what color dye you get and it really sucks that there's no color preview before you bound it to your character.

It's probably best that you create your own thread titled, "Computer Help" or something and list exactly what's wrong. This thread is for a specific game and not everyone reads this.

If worse comes to worse, you might want to try a more technical website dealing with computer problems like, http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/default.aspx for better help

I played quite a bit yesterday and I enjoyed just about everything. It seems like a very complete game and I absolutely love the combat. Can't wait to see what they do to enhance the experience come release/next BWE.

When the game launches we should all try and be on the same server so we can PVE/PVP together.

Beta Weekend Event Finale - Plains of Ashford 11:20 PM PDT

Thank you for your valuable feedback this weekend.
Join us for the Beta Weekend Event finale in the Plains of Ashford at 23:20 PDT (07:20 BST / 08:20 CEST).
Thanks for playing, and we’ll see you in-game! ~RB2

Yea I think it'll be best to try and find a server with a dedicated PvP group since pretty much anyone can PvE, but if you ever want to do well in WvWvW you have to have competent players.

Last BWE tons of people were complaining how difficult it was to play an Engineer. If you are one of those people who cannot handle switching all your different kits out, let me introduce you to the Bomb Kit.
This motherfucker is easy mode. If you can survive long enough to set all your bombs, you will kill almost anything in one combo.

Cool mini-dungeon entrance in the Diessa Highlands:

Well the Beta Weekend Event Finale sucked. For everyone on the "main" server it started at the announced time, but for everyone else stuck on the "overflow" server (like me) it started 10 minutes before the servers went down.

On my server, we saw 2 Commanders come on the map and thought they were the event, but weren't
http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/3989/gw122.jpg
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7507/gw121h.jpg

Then all these normal random events started going off one by one
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/8589/gw124o.jpg

Then 10 minutes before the servers closed, a new event (the actual one) popped up saying to "Repel the invading Dragon Force"
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/1828/gw126g.jpg - I actually survived this onslaught
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/8646/gw127a.jpg - We're suppose to destroy those purple crystals all over the map
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/5977/gw132x.jpg - When killed, you turn into the corrupted
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/7958/gw2event.jpg - After instantly dying a few times, I was able to run away and take a HD pic of what I looked like as corrupted

Oh yeah, some people on chat were saying they actually saw a giant dragon, but I didn't have time to look since after taking the last pic the servers went offline.

I didnt get to play as much in the Beta weekend this time. I started a new Character again, this time i went with a Human Necromancer. I only managed to get her up to level 10 though, so i didnt get to see too much.

Still enjoyed it though. Cant wait to try another character next time.
There are a lot of rumors, and they are just rumors of course, of a July release. Meaning there may not be another BWE.
I am sure people wont complain too much if that were the case. :)

Plus, it was delayed a few months ago. No release date has ever really been mentioned I think, except for possibly around November, but I know it has been delayed like 2 times already.

I don't think they ever stated a date, so I can't see saying they delayed it.

I think the feeling was that they want it out sooner, but they've always said, it'll be done when it's done.

I had a blast, and my Ele is feared by the gods......

I only got up to 35.5, but I unlocked two elites. I can't wait to play another.

I think it'll be a xmas release, because of the pre-purchase. they wouldn't drag that out unless they were close. They pulled that same move with GW:EN.

I specifically remember hearing about it being delayed and me going "ohh", but I don't recall a concrete date for release being thrown out. A month out is way too soon though, I suspect that time will come and go without any mention of the game or they will just say "no, July is too soon, we'll have info regarding a release soon, etc.".

I swear, every time I get invited for a beta, I am busy that weekend . Oh well, don't matter to me personally because I can wait to try it.

I hope the game drops in July or August. I want a good MMO to get into and D3 really isn't filling that void. I also don't wanna go back to WoW yet.

A lot of talk the past few days...all about Nexon - Free to Play MMO giant.

On June 8, Nexon buys 14.7% of NCSoft's (GW's publisher) shares. Also a person from Nexon, Crystin Cox, is now part of the Guild Wars 2 Cash Shop Team. It was apparently this person who decided to change the Dye System from account based to character base. Interesting how they had blog posts telling us how the dye system would work, but only tell us in the private beta forums that they decided to change it without any explanation. A lot of worried players out there since Nexon has Pay to Win cash shops.

Don't know if this'll affect GW2/ArenaNet but NCSoft is also laying off 200 employees too

fuck, makes me wish I hadn't pre-purchased then. I will not play this game if it is pay-to-win. Hopefully that won't be the case.
fuck, makes me wish I hadn't pre-purchased then. I will not play this game if it is pay-to-win. Hopefully that won't be the case.
I doubt the cash shop will end up pay to win since it's basically just cosmetic items. While there are exp/karma boosters, you could get those from Mystic Chests (their keys are dropped ingame as well). Now if they start releasing uber weapons/armors with killer stats in the cash shop, then yeah, there's going to be a problem.

ArenaNet has been very good in the past about listening to player/community concerns, so I hope people do voice their opinions to them about it. Lets hope Crystin Cox doesn't drastically change the cash shop like instead of buying permanent bank slots, we're only offered "1 month bank slot rentals" or making everything character bound, or something along those lines.

Stress Test next Wednesday (the 27th)! From 10-2PM PST I am pretty sure. I have a feeling we will have an announcement soon.

Not the first stress test they've had. It doesn't really mean anything.
Not the first stress test they've had. It doesn't really mean anything.
Not really because of the stress test but in general. They need to beat MoP in release and from the latest interviews it just seems that at least an announcement is soon. I am thinking August release but that in itself is a pure guess :p.

Well, I tried it during the stress test yesterday for the very first time. I definitely cannot wait.

And nice to see a release date of 8-28-2012, woohoo.

Could someone edit the Wiki mentioning the new release date the 28th of August and the new Beta Test the 20th-22nd of July?

Thanks :)

Yes finally a release date! Those soccer jersey photos in their office (with numbers 6 28 12 and 28 6 12 for Euro sites) were an easter egg - since that's today and today they announced the release date. I hope there's more info about the 3 day headstart schedule. I know I will be one of the thousands of people trying to get our 1 word names.

Anyhow, I was able to do the stress test yesterday. There wasn't that many people on my server, but it was more laggy than BWE2.

Damnit....I'm so busy with with work from September thru October I won't have hardly any time to play this when it launches. I guess maybe I should consider waiting to get it until Black Friday at this point. Can I wait that long.......boy it's going to be tough, I've been waiting for this game for years.

no one has edited the post except for me, probably shouldn't have even made it a wiki.

i hope people will at least add their own characters when the time comes though.

Last week someone found a world map in the data files of GW2
http://imgur.com/JAyuE

Then here's the same map with known areas
http://imgur.com/R40p6
Top = GW2 map of Tyria
Middle = GW1 map of Elona
Tiny Area = GW1 map of The Battle Isles (PVP area)
Bottom = GW1 map of Cantha

Video explaining everything
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdyAXWj3YAM&NR

Pretty interesting to finally see how the entire world of Tyria looks like. Each GW1 expansion/area was pretty huge in itself, so seeing the entire world in perspective is amazing! I hope down the road, with all the future expansions, that everything on the world map will be open.

Waited too long on the GMG deal, and now it's gone. Was hoping to get the digital deluxe for ~$65 but it looks like it's not meant to be.

Eying up a laptop that seems a little above average for my price range ($400-$500). Hope it'll run this game without any major quirks. Any PC gurus want to dissect my possible selection? This is the only game I plan on playing with it.

should be fine, any dedicated graphics from the last couple years should run GW2 just fine.

You should be alright. I tested it out on a lower end laptop and it worked nicely on medium settings. It doesn't take much for GW2 to run.

Specs

-Intel Core i3 2.1Ghz Processor
-4GB DDR3 RAM
-Intel HD 3000 Integrated

Thanks. I figured it'd work but just needed some reassurance. I'll likely pick it up over the weekend. Now to look forward to the next beta weekend.

It wasn't meant to be because they're now offering 25% off everything, including Guild Wars 2. With the $5 credit from that free game that brought Digital Deluxe down to $55 and instantly purchased.

Use voucher code 25OFF-ALLTH-EGAME to get GW2 for $45 and GW2 DD for $60.

Kinda sad that the beta weekend falls on my birthday... already bought tickets for Dark Knight Rises on Saturday then Sunday I'm heading to St. Louis for the 1000th episode of RAW. Le sigh.
