The Howard Stern Thread
I must admit those are two weird looking hats.
I'm a week behind, Stern is so off-base with both his LeBron comments and about Bob Sheppard...

dude, you have no fucking clue about sports, just pick something else to talk about.
They do an IQ test and the only people you care about arent involved. Fail.
You really thought that Robin, Fred and Howard were going to do it? Robin doesn't want the world to know how stupid she really is. Fred is just book smart. Cant ruin his image of being Mr Know it All. Howard is afraid of his own shadow, he doesn't want his listeners knowing.

I would have been stunned if any of them did it but thats also why its a lame bit.

It's tough making 100 million a year and working 16 hour work weeks. Thats why Howard couldn't do the IQ test. He is beyond emotionally and physically drained. He needs that 16 weeks of vacation every year. Haven't you heard him on the Monday after vacation? How horrible that Sunday was because he knew he had to go back to work and work for 4 hours while making 250'000-500'000. Tough life.
That might be true if not for...VACATION. Yes, two weeks after the last one, it would seem Howie needs another break from his job.
Are you f/ing kidding me? There going on another vacation? What for? It's not even a holiday week! And then they'll probably go on another vacation for Labor Day. :/
Even if he only does 3 weeks a month, at 15 hours a week, that is 45 hours of entertainment for $15. Stop bitching already.
Where are you getting 45 hours from? Take away the commercials, music, fake phony phone calls, HTV plugs and Yoko Betho talk and you are left with 10 hours tops.

Take away Mr 100 million crying about his contract, his work schedule, his hours, his lack of vacation, crying about Leno and American Idol and you are left with 5 hours.

That 5 hours is used to hear about JD's boring sex life, interview porn stars and has been F List celebs that nobody cares about anymore.

Lets not forget that the Monkey producer has the same guests in every month. Lisa Lamp and Joan Rivers highlight the guest list.

wildpac, It sounds like you hate the show, yet you listen to it so much that you know every detail about it. I love all the crying about the contract, his Leno hatred, JD, etc. I love how miserable the guy can be knowing that he has all the money he could imagine and a model wife, etc. He is interesting, even when talking about stupid american idol or some dumb book his wife wrote.

And for the record, I download an edit of the show that takes all commercials out, and even with those out, most days are pushing 4.5 - 5 hours. But I do have a subscription. I am currently about a month behind(catching up rapidly with all the vacations).

I'm wonder the same thing about myself. Its a shell of what it used to be, Howard is mailing it in every day, hes become totally unlikeable and a hypocrite, the guests are almost all horrible, Benjy is hack of a writer, Sal and Richard are hacks at everything, The Howard news is worthless and I could go on and on but I do keep listening even though I have fallen months behind and listen far less since Artie left.

Hopefully Beth gets pregnant soon because then Howard will be truly miserable and back to doing good radio again or retires before it gets really sad.

Ive been catching up on '09 shows and I find that I just cant listen without Artie so I dont know how Ill handle '10.

I still listen, but it really is starting to go downhill a little without some sort of comedian/presence there to take Artie's place. When David Arquette has come in as an intern, it's pretty good. Slowly but surely the Jason Ellis Show is what I look forward to more and more. They should just make Dave Attell or someone sit in Artie's seat until he decides to quit stabbing himself or whatever. Hell even let Jackie sit in it, I could care less.

I was just listening to a bit of show from 1990 and Howard is reading an ad for a beepr that can display a short text message on an lcd screen and he sounds genuinely amazed by it. Ah the evolution of technology.

"Sit on my lap and we'll talk about the first thing that pops up"

I still remember that E episode where he got all cleaned up and went on a date in Central Park. Good stuff. I miss that little bastard.
Has Gilbert Godfried been on lately? I could listen to that Motherfucker do "dracula Godfried" all day long!
I think he has been on once in the past year and a half - 2 years. Pretty much blacklisted by the show for being too controversial. Hamptons doesn't want to explain to his socilaite and Beth friends why Gilbert is on.

is Howard on T-Th?

feel bad for Schimmel, but in one sense, he can finally be in peace. He made some bad decisions that impacted his life, but he really got fucked over time and time again.

what is booey's twitter account?

Just watched Fringe. Eric was pretty good. His appearance was only about a minute. And unfortunately I don't think he'll be back.

his head exploded

They announced on the show that Eric's head exploded. I think Ralph did. I cannot STAND Eric the MIDGET (screw Eric the actor). I just love when Fred tears him apart. I also loved how things went down with the red carpet event that he wanted to do. I think it was for the Emmys?

Anyway, I love Stern and I cannot imagine my morning commute without him.

I was wondering if anyone here listens to Jason Ellis on Faction? I listen to Howard on the way to work and Ellis on the way home, unless Howard was awesome and I want to hear parts of it again or parts I missed.

If you havn't heard Ellis, he's on Faction 28 (Sirius) and not sure what the XM channel is. He is on in afternoons 3pm-7pm EST (show based out of Cali) and I THINK there are reruns on the Virus (XM) now. He's been on Stern. Ex-pro skater who's just crazy and will do anything and everything. Big time into action sports and extreme things. Trains MMA and rides moto, etc etc. His show is picking up steam as he goes and gets better at it, but still has his hit or miss days. Definately someone to check out if you dig Stern. He talks about anything and everything and is willing to participate in anything and everything, which makes it a lot more exciting. The best part of the show is that he can flip from being completely ridiculous to being serious and talking to people about past addictions and life issues, takes lots of phone calls, and just has a great thing going. He also got rid of Tully (who left because of salary disputes) and now has Raw Dog. Raw Dog is also getting better at his thing and gaining confidence, but the duo is pretty hilarious.

Anyway, back to Stern... I am glad this thread exists because Stern is a genious. Definately the King of All Media as he proclaims. DEFINATELY the Emperor of Radio. Nobody will ever replace him.
