The local Game X-Change is going out of business and the deals are just getting better as they liquidate their stock of classic games.

Today they had added a few SNES/N64 games to the $1 table and while my knowledge of rare cartridges isn't as complete as I might like I did know that I could hardly go wrong with a price like that. I pretty much picked up all the non-sports titles.

Pic_0103_047-2.jpg

Final Fight: $1
Magic Sword: $1
Battleblaze: $1
Robotron 64 (With manual, as though it matters): $1
And of course, the cheapest N64 classic, Jet Force Gemini: $1

They offered me a free Super Game Boy, as they had a box of them that people weren't touching and I bought two more of them for a dollar each.

There weren't really any big scores - well, almost.

Pic_0103_050-1.jpg

"Sweet, a cowboy game," I thought. "It's probably good enough for a dollar." But when I looked up the value I realized just how sweet it was. This was a functional copy of Wild Guns.

They had Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World and other such titles behind the counter for double what they're actually worth so I only have one question: do the people at the game store know something that I don't about this cartridge (fake/possessed by the devil) or is it a classic example of "Never heard of it, throw it in the pile and hope someone will buy it"?

I ordered these in late Dec., but they arrived today; do they count?

All are new and sealed. The three on top came from eStarland; the other three via Amazon Marketplace/Fulfillment by Amazon.

I've been looking at this Trimount thing for awhile. It's a little big and it was a little expensive, but it's nice to get all of my motion things out of the way.

Welcome to the Wild Guns club. :)

It's more of a case of the latter. When normal people get in a pile of SNES games, they go straight for the Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda, while other lesser-known games (like Wild Guns, Aero Fighters, and Final Fight 2/3) get thrown into the bargain pile.

I work at a video game store and I've picked up Wild Guns, Tomba 2, MUSHA, Aero Fighters, and quite a few other really hard to find titles for $4.99 because they get placed under a generic entry because they're not one of the "more popular" SNES games.
Starting things off right, indeed:
Did you get that with the prison case included?

If yes, how are you gonna get it out or is it more for collecting purposes?

No. I sent it in myself. Strictly for collecting. Those cases aren't meant to be opened. The only way to do so would be to break them.

One guy posted a YouTube video of himself using a hammer to break open a VGA graded NES game, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

I'd take that thing out of the case at a collector's convention in 20 to 30 years and destroy it in front of the collectors. Although, I'd probably cry it was a sealed copy of Earthbound or that NES gold stadium games cartridge were to be destroyed.

Curious. What compels you to collect sealed games or systems? I love to collect games, but strictly ones that I'd play. I know I'll likely not get around to all my games, but I like having the choice to play them or offering them to my friends when they're over.

Is it kinda like purchasing collector's editions, the desire to own rare things, or something else? I never quite understood the appeal.

Just got this today.

2012-01-10_17-26-36_986.jpg

Was NIB... I have since opened it and played. Its my first time playing nights... Not sure i totally understand what im supposed to do but seems like it could be fun.

Yeah... Honestly i got it for 36 dollars shipped and I dont have near enough saturn games.. Ill keep it complete in box but for a game and a second controller the price seemed fair.

DSC01437.jpg

Grabbed a uDraw since they were so cheap (used amazon credit) and easy 900 achievement pts. My Mad Men finally came from best buy. Grabbed Dragon Age & Awakenings so I don't have to play my CE copy. They were under $15 together.

DSC01438.jpg

Did the recyle dvds thing at BB. Troy & Sarah Marshall were $5 each, Idiot Brother was $10, Killer Elite was $15, and Warrior was $13. Definitely going to do that a couple more times before the promo ends. :D I also got lucky and found used complete copies of Eternal Darkness & Firefighter FD 18 at gamestop. :)

DSC01439.jpg

Ordered Skylanders and the newer PS3 remote (so I don't kill my controllers and have to recharge them all the damn time) with Amazon credit.

DSC01440.jpg

Grabbed some cheapies at gamestop. Got lucky as hell and found a complete used MW CE. Very happy to snag one of those since they are way overpriced on ebay and amazon.

I'm way behind with posting my stuff. I haven't even shared my Christmas haul yet... Because it's less relevant now, I'll just stick it all in a spoiler tag:

I got a lot of really random stuff (some awesome, some not) this year. To make things simpler, we split the holiday up into three days. The first day was spent with my wife's family...

2011xmas2.jpg

A wallet (which I returned), Jingle All The Way (one of my favorite Christmas movies) on Blu-ray, and $100.

I forgot to take a picture, but I also got a pair of these Doctor Comfort slippers:

LINK
We also got a box containing $500 in state quarters.

The next day was spent with my family:
2011xmas3.jpg

Fancy pajamas.

2011xmas4.jpg

Wacom Bamboo writing tablet thing. It's cool, but I'll probably sell it because I don't know what I would ever use this for.

2011xmas5.jpg

LotR Pez dispensers, another wallet, and a check for $100.

Some decorative items:
2011xmas6.jpg

2011xmas7.jpg

2011xmas8.jpg

We also got a fancy Seiko wall clock adorned with Swarovsky crystals (limited to 2500 units), a Shark mop set (already have one but this is nicer), $25 gift card for Elephant Bar, a really nice Duke Ultimate Sweatshirt made by Haband, two engraved photo albums (one for us, one for our son), a 12-month picture frame, four sheet sets, a rotisserie, some things for my wife, and other stuff I can't remember. Most of it was for both of us. As crazy as it may sound, everything we got pales in comparison to what our son got. His grandmother and great-grandmother bought him a shit-ton of toys and furniture. I told them to stop buying stuff months ago, but they refused to listen.

On the actual day of Christmas, my wife and I exchanged gifts, starting with stockings:
2011xmas9.jpg

Below the Panda Express gift card is a gift card for Quiznos.

2011xmas11.jpg

That's a rhino grabber toy down there.

2011xmas13.jpg

She also got me several pairs of pajama pants, some socks (which don't fit), a Grinch sleep shirt, and the following t-shirts:

Because we knew our son would be getting a ton of presents already, we didn't get him much, but we did turn his playpen into a ball pit:
2011xmas.jpg

Okay, now for this month's pickups so far. I got these with my free $25 Best Buy credit:
201201pickups.jpg

201201pickups2.jpg

Got the Harry Potter movies for about $50 on Amazon UK.

201201pickups4.jpg

We're Back! (SNES), The Pagemaster (SNES), Duck Tales (NES), and manuals. All from eBay. The various NES manuals go with some of the games I picked up at Goodwill a couple of months ago.

201201pickups3.jpg

I have and enjoy the uDraw for Wii and I wanted it for Xbox 360, so I picked up a used one (in perfect shape) for $20 on Amazon. Paid $30 for SS:OUAM, but it came with a little playing guide (basically a piece of foam insulation with SS characters on it). Picked up Rayman at TRU tonight for $20 and the DVD's (for my son) the other night for a total of $10. The little things at the bottom are Mario Kart Wii highlighters that I got tonight at Target for a dollar.

They are a Korean pop group I love and this is there first official American album release not counting MP3, im a huge fan as I'm sure there are other Sone's here to. I got this to support them as I already have the Mp3 version and the Korean release.

+1. I like how the yellow ones stand out.

@wiggy, I assume you like Neverending Story? I have not watched it. It was cheap enough on Amazon that it was worth a blind buy.

Hmm, definitely not my cup o' tea, but it's better than most US pop and it's nice that you get to show your support.

How old are you? I've never heard of someone not seeing that movie.

Thanks! They're super comfy and lightweight too.

They're the Faas 550. I got 'em on Zappos, but it appears they no longer have the yellow in stock (prolly why I got me cheap, as I assume they were closing them out?). Anyway, a quick google search shows them as available elsewhere ;)

They make the Faas 500 in some pretty crazy colors too.

Was it something that Amazon recommended for you, or literally a blind choice? But, to answer your question, yes, it's a childhood favorite of mine. It's right up there with "Flight of the Navigator" and "Labyrinth". The sequels are beyond awful, but worth a watch for the LULZ!

@zombietoast and wiggyx
I am 27. It was $5.49 on Amazon and for myself, any movie that sounds interesting and is around $5.00 is worth a blind buy. Movies at the theater cost $10.00 and I do not get the comfort of pausing or rewinding/fast forwarding.

I have not watched a lot of movies. At least, I cannot say I have watched popular or well known ones. Examples: Rocky series, Die Hard series, Rambo series, Ghostbusters, Jaws, Freddy Keuger series, Jason series, Harry Potter series (until the past Saturday), Addam's Family, Beetlejuice, etc.

I did a count on my blu-rays back in October. I remember that approximately 70% of my blu-rays were blind buys. Shoot, even with the Best Buy trade & save program, 22 of the movies are blind buys. Of the 30, I watched: Charlie's Angels, Cloverfield, Doom, Inside Man, Kill Bill 2, Lost in Space, Sweeney Todd, and Watchmen.

I am not sure what it is with blu-rays that sparked my interests in watching more movies. XD
