Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I think we can presume that Darksiders won't be a THQ Daily Deal considering that it was a regular Daily Deal a couple weeks ago.

Metro 2033 was too.

Yeah i kinda hope Darksiders is > 5, but I think it will be the same as the daily deal. Just like Metro was $5 before and $5 now.

It would be nice to see Red Faction: Armageddon get a 75% discount to match Onlive's recent 75% reduction at $12.50. Unfortunately, it'll probably make a 50% reduction at $24.99.

I see Homefront making either a 50% or 66% dip at $14.99 and $10.xx, respectively. The recent price drop to $29.99 leads me to believe that it'll not make it to 75% off.

As usual, the $5 games will most likely be Darksiders, Metro 2033, STALKER , TQ Gold, Full Spectrum Warrior (SR2 might even make it to $3.75 but will surely be at least $5). Undoubtedly, there will be a dedicated COH day, and most certainly a Dawn of War day with all games getting deep reductions in some capacity (hoping Retribution's DLC goes on sale this time). One day will probably include Space Marine at a shitty 33% off (could be 50%).

The original SupCom games would be an added bonus if discounted. However, they only came out 2 weeks ago so we'll see. (Mafia 1 got a 75% reduction only about 2 weeks after release). They may also go the route of offering a bundled game by preordering Saints Row 3.
Anyone have a dungeon defenders 4 pack I can get in on? PM me
You know what, count me in on looking to join a Dungeon Defenders 4 pack also! Send me a PM if anyone has a spot for me to jump in on or plans to organize one.

Thanks!

So I have been waiting for this, and I don't have any of the games in the Hit Collection. There probably isn't going to be a better deal on these games is there?

I was sort of hoping they would have a collection of all the THQ games, but I will probably pick this up on the last day and hope for daily deals on some of the stuff not included.

If you don't have any of the games and you are interested in them, it's a pretty solid deal. I wouldn't call it a "Oh my god I need to buy it so badly that I'm going to run around like my pants are on fire" deal, but it's solid enough if you want most of the games.

Assuming you own NONE of the games in the package and are interested in ALL the games in the package, it is the best deal to purchase the Hit Collection now. Even in the best case scenario that ALL games in the package are daily deals at 75% off, the total separately would still be around $80 (This is by adding all the individual games at regular price equaling roughly around 310~)

I want to say I've heard good things about Puzzler World. I see there's a deal that if you get Puzzler World 2, you get the first one as well.

Any comments?

The puzzles were easy enough that I just felt like I was going through the motions. Link-a-Pix were fun. I put around two hours in according to Steam, and I didn't feel like the puzzles were getting any more difficult.

Already own a good majority of the THQ catalog due to previous sales. Only thing I'm remotely interested in in Red Faction: Armageddon, but I wouldn't bite on that unless it was $5, which probably won't happen until next year.
To get or not to get Metro?
It's cheap, moody and atmospheric and I've enjoyed what I've played so far. Although I've only played it in small bits because I get all jumpy when it's dark because I'm a fucking coward.

Puzzler World is extremely basic and there are only a handful of puzzle types - - though there are a ton of them altogether. I'd say it's a decent purchase if you're a huge fan of the types of games you see in the screens, and Puzzler 2 certainly looks to have more variety than the first.

I'm a big puzzle game fan, but I can't see paying more than $2 for the new game.

In case any one is waiting for more recommendations to push them over the edge, Metro 2033 and Darksiders are excellent games well worth 5 bucks.

Are you drunk right now?

Just buy the 2 or 3 games you [really] want during the daily/weekend/winter/summer deals. That way, you might spend $20 total. Imho, that pack is not brimming with solid gold. I would get Metro for $5 and then pick up 1 or 2 games later on (or maybe just stop after Metro).

Got Metro 2033, been waiting on the $5 sale again ever since I built my computer. Basically just going to use this as a benchmark and maybe try to play through it =)

I'm hoping for a decent sale on DoWII retribution, love the way this series has played out in terms of gameplay. Nice change from SCII.

I wouldn't call it only a handful. Including the shorter bonus puzzles, the original game has 14 different games, and PW2 has 18. Also, PW2 includes a "Master Mode" which contains larger, more difficult puzzles. For comparison, the Link-a-Pix puzzles in Challenge Mode are 15x15, while in Master Mode, they're 50x50. You do have to complete the Challenge Mode puzzles to unlock the Master Mode ones, though.

I ended up buying Puzzler World 2. With the bonus of getting the first Puzzler World, I figured I would enjoy this game on and off over time.

I've played about two hours of Puzzler World, and I'm definitely enjoying it. Until October 24th, I believe, you get Puzzler World 1 if you buy Puzzler World 2. For now, it's 20% off at $7.99. At about $4 a game that way, I thought it was worth it. For what it's worth, Puzzler World is $4.99 while Puzzler World 2 is $9.99 at it's regular price.

Also, if you own Puzzler World, you can buy Puzzler World 2 and receive a gift of Puzzler World.

Okay, well it's slightly more than a handful - 8 main puzzle types.

It's a DS game and it looks and feels like one. Incidentally, that platform is where I'd prefer to play that type of game, so it probably colors my opinion somewhat of the PC version.

I love games like Everyday Genius: SquareLogic on the PC though, so it must be something about the interface and lack of depth of most of those puzzles in Puzzler World that just doesn't work for me as well.

I bought it back when it was on sale for $1.69 and that seemed about right. It's also an iPhone app with a retail of $2.99, so there's a bit of a precedent in price. And this is, after all, CAG. ;)

I've downloaded the demo of Everyday Genius. I've heard good things about it.

MIDWEEK MADNESS!

Woot DNF for $9.99. If I didn't already have it I'd be all over it.

It is to celebrate the new DLC the parody pack which is free if you are a First Access member (othwerise it is $9.99) which involves having a code from the Borderlands GOTY (I think some people with just regular copies have it too if they owned it before the GOTY was released) and using said code on the first access website here.

Anywho good deal.

Going to chime in and add my $0.02. As long as you're not holding it up to a decade or so of expectations, DN Forever is actually pretty fun. It's a pretty good FPS and delivers what I considered an enjoyable experience. Honestly, $10 seems like a pretty solid price point (in my opinion anyway) for what you get.

Titan Quest is a must buy right? It's on sale for $5 and I am at the page to buy it, just need confirmation that's it's good, lol.

Anyway DNF is a great deal for $10. Fun game, and while some people may be expecting more out of it, if your looking for a classic run and gun shooter, DNF will be a great choice and a steal for $10.

Thanks, just making sure. Bought Titan Quest :D. Could not pass up a $5 Titan's Quest gold.

Just realized the only THQ games I don't own out of that pack now is The Red Factions, Homefront, Company of Heroes and that MX vs ATV game. Unless Armageddon can hit a sub $10 pricepoint this sale, I wont need to buy anything else.

It really hurts me though that I bought Metro 2033 for my Dad's birthday and spent $26 on it today for a 360 copy. If only he had a gaming PC, I could of saved $20.

Rejoice! Titan Quest Gold for $5! Thank you Steam for not making me wait the entire week lol!

Going to download this as soon as I pick up my wife from the hospital :)
