Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Which retail CD Keys are accepted on Steam?

I believe there's a demo available on Steam to download. I tried the demo during the Summer Sale, but I found the combat system complex and simultaneously uninteresting.

The game has mixed reviews and tends to score at the lower end of the spectrum for Squeenix games. As someone who adores turn-based RPGs, I passed.
There've been many, but check here, it's more appropriate of a place to ask, as you're more likely to get a bite there. Post there, and sit back and wait, you'll find one in no time if there isn't already a couple of people in there who want in/have copies. Try checking back a couple pages as well. Hope this helps. =]
Thanks, I can never find that forum when I'm looking for it.
How is Last Remnant? I see it is 75% off for another 5 hours.
It depends on the person. Some people like it, some hate it I guess. It has a unique battle system which for me makes it different but I liked it. I would watch some you tube videos on it to see if the game is for you.
Deal of the Day is Kaptain Brawe: A Brawe New World, 75% off at $5.00 (down from $19.99)

Looks very much like a SCUMM point 'n click; screenshots remind of me Curse of Monkey Island but with sharper visuals. I know nothing of it personally, though.
It's on my wishlist, but since I have a TON of quality adventure games already in my backlog, I'm in no hurry on this one. Good price, though.

Also, it looks like I can indeed gift the Hector series for $10, so if anyone wants one, let me know.

I'm in for Kaptain Brawe, always in the mood to add a good adventure game to my library lol!

Also, I'm in for Hector for $10. I'll send ya a PM!

I'd be grateful :D

Sir, I'm taking your post with a grain of salt. That seems too far-fetched to be true.

Midweek Madness is Microsoft Office Suite.

I have this on my wishlist, but I get the feeling it'll be cheaper during one of the larger sales.

Can you please link me to Microsoft Office Suite on Steam? I've been waiting for a sale on it, and wanted to get it on Steam. It's Steamworks, but never goes on sale anywhere, so this excites me! I can't find it on Steam though. =/ So please link me!

It's not worth it. Power Point doesn't even have achievements.

It was 75% earlier now it's only 50% off. That's a blatant bait and switch. Looks like I'll have to find a torrent to punish these scamsters. rip-off artists!

Do any of the MMO's on Steam list the monthy subscription costs on the store pages? You'd think the customer would wanna know that before purchasing.
Doesn't the publisher/dev provide the info to steam? Fail on the dev's part imo.
Nah, Steam's to blame. Even if the dev doesn't include that info, if Steam cared enough about the game, they'd Google it or simply ask.

Realistically speaking, this is probably done purposely to avoid losing possible customers because of how ugly that $14.99 monthly fee is on the page, so they just say that there's a fee, because that looks much better lol... I'll never go back to MMOs, I loved the shit out of them, but that monthly fee is pretty costly, and in the long run much less worth the money than 5 brand new games are, which you could easily buy with the money that you would save.

Why would any company go out of their way to look up information on the loads of games that use monthly fees? If you look on Amazon, it won't tell you the monthly fees for any of the games that charge that crap and it benefits both parties: More sales for the initial copy of the game and more unwitting monthly fee payers.

Exactly.

Deus Ex Human Revolution for 25% off for $37.50 is the midweek madness according to the store page of steam right now currently. I got the game at launch and put 30 hours into it (need to finish it when I get a chance to do so with out school bothering me) I'd say its worth the price but it might be lower during the winter sale.

I'm guessing the real reasons are a lot less sinister, and it's just the difficulties involved for the logistics of ensuring that the subscription information on Steam is in sync and accurate with that from the game publishers. Each MMO can have its own set of different pricing schemes to describe, and the prices may change at any time. If for any reason the Steam info goes stale or is wrong, there could be lots of customer support headaches and even legal issues.

At least the Steam store pages for EVE and Rift are quite explicit about subscription fees being involved, so I don't feel that users are being misled there. One thing that might be helpful would be for some additional text on the page that lets the user know that the subscriptions are dictated by the publisher, and to visit the publisher's webpage link for more details.

If true, that's sorta weak as Amazon has the download for $30 this week.
Only 25% off? That's a waste of a Midweek Madness.
Agreed, Got the game at launch for around $30.00. Its an awesome game and would say worth 60.00 but can help but hope for another MM deal or a killer DD tomarrow. Wish the 2 DLC packs would be a percent off as well.

Well I bought the Deus Ex Augmented Edition for $60 and well worth every penny. I bet the game in 4 days clocking in 27.6 hours. One hell of a great game.

Anyone else get hit with a 3 GB TF2 update or is it just Steam trolling me?

It's 106.7 MB for me.

Keeping it up to date for an MMO wouldn't be that hard imho. Just have a database that the dev's/publishers can access and change the values of so if the game decides to drop the 3 month option they can just go do that and it will update Steam/Amazon by just checking the database. Keeping up to date with the internet is easy; they're just lazy and cheap.

Anyone think Valve might discount Batman: Arkham Asylum as tomorrow's deal, in honor of the Arkham City release?

The PC version of Arkham City was hit by a delay recently, and I never got around to Arkham Asylum. I'd bite in heartbeat!

I am that much of a whore for Deus Ex where I spent $15 on this DLC. Normally I would not buy DLC full price but god damn did I love Deus Ex. Easily my GOTY thus far.

Normally, this wouldn't be a bad price. However, this game is steamworks and could be had for less day one. Also, people may want to consider buying this retail to get the free onlive code.

the $15 DLC does sound life a hefty price tag. I will wait until its on sale.

Also, I know I am about a week to late but I just finished playing Red Faction: Armageddon, bought from the sale last week. It isn't open world (which is a good thing generally for me) and it was a blast to play. I rarely play a game straight through like I did that one. The enemies sometimes feel a bit generic and the end seemed to drag on a bit but its just a really good time in a nice SciFi universe.

Daily Deal:

Delta Force Platinum Pack $6.79 66% off Includes the two below

Man, I played the hell out of these.............until BF2 came out. I had forgotten all about them! Not a great price for a game this old, but it was fun back in the day.

Oddly enough, I got the retail version about 3 weeks ago and never got the onlive code.

And yeah batman deal doesn't seem like a deal.

Augmented or standard? I know the standard should come with it as long as you dont buy from gamestop.
