Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Yep! That's why you wait until the end of the sale to buy anything you want...just in case that daily deal pops up. You get the hang of it after a couple of these big sales.

Enjoy the game. I am playing it a lot lately. So much to do!
I have hesitation cause I finished it on PS3, but I haven't played any of the DLC and I'm sure the PC version has much better graphics and performance, and I don't know if there are any good mods. $15 for the whole package, I think I have to bite on that.
Do any of you CAGs recommend Zeno Clash?
Yeah, it's got a really interesting (weird) world, and the melee combat is pretty good.
I really wanted RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3: Platinum, but 66% discount really doesn't make me pull the trigger. I'm sure I can wait until the Winter Sale for a cheaper price.

Other than that, all games don't really interest me. Worse than yesterday for me.
It's been on my wishlist for over a year and the biggest discount it ever gets is 66%.

Maybe interested in finishing off my FNV DLC, but I haven't even started the game yet, so passing on everything today.
Do any of you CAGs recommend Zeno Clash?
If you have as big a hard-on for beat-em-ups as I do... real, MANLY beat-em-ups with dudes getting thrown through stuff and heavy hits and not the button mashers of Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers, you'll enjoy it. Hell, if you like Dark Messiah you'll enjoy it.

....FO:NV - any word on a complete edition? I still have FO:3 GOTY to play through, so I know I won't get to this until at least the SUMMER sale. So I'm hesitant to drop $16 on the game and all DLC when I'm guessing I can snag it for $7.50ish in the near future like I did with FO:3 during this year's summer sale.

Grabbed the NV DLC (for when I get around to playing the game - never played Fallout 3 yet)

But, man I would LOVE to get my hands on L.A. Noire, but $25 is way too rich for my cheapness (it must have sold really slow to be reduced so much so quickly)

What a bunch of a$$ hats to not put the FONV sale on the same day as the dlc. Does FONV on pc have any substantial mods like the Elder Scrolls games do?
Total War Mega pack for $12.50.. I was thinking about buying it when it was $25. I definitely have to play those demos today. Seems like a steal
Indeed it does, avatar twin. I was not even looking too hard at it until I opened it up and saw the insane amount of content.
Do any of you CAGs recommend Zeno Clash?
It's a short game but I got my $3.75 worth of fun out of it. It's unique but pretty good.
What a bunch of a$$ hats to not put the FONV sale on the same day as the dlc.
What do you mean not on sale as the same day as the dlc? They're all 75% off.
I really wanted RollerCoaster Tycoon® 3: Platinum, but 66% discount really doesn't make me pull the trigger. I'm sure I can wait until the Winter Sale for a cheaper price.
Considering I bought it on disc at Five Below for $5, I tend to agree.

The only NV DLC I wouldn't recommend is Honest Hearts. Uninteresting scenery, uninteresting choices, uninteresting characters. I haven't played the newest one though, I'm picking that up as well as the new weapon pack.

If anyone is thinking about Sniper: Ghost Warrior, don't. 4 hour campaign, and it's not even a good one. The multiplayer is very bleh.

Kinda interested in Flashpoint: Red River and LA Noire. Are they worth their current prices? Those are some quick drops on new games.
Is it worth it to get all of the NV dlc? $16 seems like a steal to me.
Old World Blues definitely, and if you're looking for...uhh...closure to your role as the Courier, I'd get Lonesome Road as well (although its entirely linear, with the only exploring coming from finding a few scattered items). Honest Hearts opens up a large area for exploration but didn't really hook me. Dead Money was pretty annoying in my opinion, but does offer a lot in the way of stealth and environmental based puzzles.

Steam sale sucks this go around. I swear last year they had new releases even for 15ish bucks off. Nothing yet has interested me even a little. And here my wife was worried Id go overboard like I usually do.
I'm gonna get gun runners arsenal as well, but courier's stash doesn't look good. It looks like stuff you get through normal play, and is early level stuff.
I currently own all of the DLC except for the two weapon packs. I think I'll get the gun runners arsenal now, too. $0.99 isn't bad.

For those of you debating the DLC, just get it. It raises your level cap +5 for each one you have (vanilla NV is 30). Dead Money was slightly boring after a while, but I am playing Honest Hearts right now, and its cool. I've heard really good things about Old World Blues. I'm not even at the end of the game yet, and I have 48hrs into the game.

Edit: and I just realized I didn't have Lonesome Road. Getting that one, too!

I finished FO3: GOTY not too long ago...logged in well over 200 hours and loved every minute of it. Now New Vegas is on sale w/ all DLC for $16 total. Damn...I really didn't want to invest that much time to one game for a while. I'm sure it will go back on sale during the X-mas sale, but it's really tempting to get now.

Now that I think about it. I am really hoping they would do a $5 morrowind or lower. I mean yes I have Skyrim but Morrowind is for nostalgic purposes, that and I can say I own all the Bethesda open world games (well except for first two elder scrolls but I think they are free now).

It's $9.99 now and way too much.

Rift is an insanely good MMO. When you take into account the free month this comes with, I don't think it's been cheaper (though you can get a license for free if you sign up for the subscription on the official Trion site).

I've played MMOs for a long time, starting with the Realm when I was 14, and Devs have never put out free content this quickly (even including the first year of Asheron's Call). They've added new content for just about everyone. And if you're someone who likes just about everything [questing, exploring, raiding, pvp] depending on your mood, it's quite addictive.
I'm gonna get gun runners arsenal as well, but courier's stash doesn't look good. It looks like stuff you get through normal play, and is early level stuff.
Courier's Stash is the preorder DLC from all the various stores. Most of the stuff you can get in the game, but it really helps out a new character. I also believe the Vault 13 jumpsuit and canteen are unique to the DLC. The Vault 13 Canteen lets you cheat in hardmode because it is bottomless so you will automatically drink from it rather than getting thirsty.

you should all get VVVVVV. It's probably one of my favorite games ever. And for something than can be beat in a relatively short time, I have over 20 hours on it. As well as the music is fantastic.

It's been over a year or so since Morrowind dipped to $5. It's entirely possibly during this sale or the Holiday one but part of me thinks Bethesda realizes a lot of people still play it because of MGE, etc.
What do you mean not on sale as the same day as the dlc? They're all 75% off.
Oh, thanks a lot for that. Having connection problems and would have easily missed that.
FO:NV for the win. And yes, there is a very thriving modding scene for the game (New Vegas Nexus).
Sweet. Thanks.

Wow, New Vegas is under 5GB? I forgot I had Paypal funds in US so they ended up only charging my credit card $3.17 Canadian for everything but the courier's stash. Nice! 9.3GB total.

There's going to be an Ultimate Edition for FONV supposedly Feb time. I'm willing to wait for that as well and a sale. So probably next summer ish.

How do you guys organize the store when you're looking for things? It seems so out of order, and they only highlight like 12 games on sale, when there's tons.

http://morroblivion.com/ is really coming along nicely. (a bit of work to get things going but it smooths-over many of the mechanically bumpy parts of Morrowind)

edit: Oh wow. It's been awhile since I looked at a fresh install of Morroblivion and the steps involved now are far less cumbersome.

Wasnt it 5 bucks during the quakecon/ID/Bethesda sale not too too long ago? I got every single game made by both of those companys, including new vegas +dlc, fallout goty, etc etc etc for a total of like 47 bucks.

Nothing for me today either. Didn't enjoy FO:NV though thats a really great price for the standalone plus all the DLCs for $16.

Total War Mega Pack seems like a steal, but I really am hoping Shogun 2 gets hit on the Daily Deal.
Total War games are awesome. But when you play the newer ones, you will not like the older ones....

The Rome series is dated... severely...
I still like rome for what it is, the graphics are dated but the game play is still solid
Wasnt it 5 bucks during the quakecon/ID/Bethesda sale not too too long ago?
Yes so if they do an Elder Scrolls daily say during this sale or the winter one next month they might drop it again. It's an old game and I doubt it sells much off sale so there's not much reason not to put it on sale.

They added cloud save to it when they put it on sale during the summer so I bought it again just to have in on Steam.

Anyway, grabbed the last few FNV DLC I didn't own, Lonesome Road plus the gun stuff.

Also grabbed L.A. Noire. As long as it doesn't go 66% or 75% off next month for the winter sale I'm happy. I can't imagine they will go lower than 50% this soon.

I don't remember it being $5 because I would of bought it then probably.
bought new vegas + dlc, since psn won't give discount for them.
The more I game on PC, the more I hate my consoles (and their policies). My consoles are for console exclusives only now. :D

Off topic: I know this is a Steam thread, but the CAG in me has to say that Origin is starting a Black Friday Sale at midnight tonight [EST]. BF3 Deals?

Hate to quote myself, but I'm still looking for some opinions.

Your description of the DLC sums up the whole game.

The best sales are the featured ones on the front page. Those also are shorter. Check those every first.

Then on the last day of a big sale I look through my wishlist and see what is on there that is coming up on sale. If a game wasn't on a daily sale then that's the cheapest it will get for the entire sale and you are safe to grab it on the last day.

I routinely put any game I am even remotely interested in on my wishlist so that when I go back and look on the last day of the sale I can see what I might be interested in that is on sale.
Fallout: New Vegas isn't a Games for Windows Live title, is it?
Fallout 3 was... Not Sure about NV. Double Chievo's. :0)
