Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

So, thoughts on Origin vs. Steam today? Origin just dropped the 50% Batman + BF3 bomb and all my monies might be flowing to the orange devil....

You can always wait and see if Batman goes 50% on Steam in 90 minutes. I'm tempted on BF3 myself.

While I don't intend to use origin those are some nice deals if you have an interest in those games. You could wait and see if Batman gets a deal today on steam, but as far as battlefield if you want it and that prices fits with you then it does seem like a good deal.

Pretty much this, considering Origin is required no matter where you buy BF3 then $30 is a really good deal. I have 50hrs in on PS3, it's a FANTASTIC Game! That said if you plan on back logging them, they will be cheaper later.

Sweet! Steam deals again :p I didn't even know (haven't logged into steam for a while now due to lack of time)

I don't think I'll be buying a whole lot of games this time due to the aforementioned lack of time, but I'm hoping Dead Space 2 will hit the 5 euro mark, then I will definitely grab it! It's on sale on origin for the same price but I refuse to buy anything on origin. It looks like just another project that EA will lose interest in sooner or later.

Honestly, I was tempted with EA's sales, but I'm still crossing my fingers for EA to put BF3 on steam.

Though there hasn't been word of this since Oct 31 with reports of punkbuster pointing to a supposed steam install folder and Sapphire giving out BF3 promos that were to be redeemed on steam.

If it were to happen, most likely not after a while, considering the origin sales.
Bought New Vegas earlier in the year for $10 (I know stupid) and all the DLC is like $11. 75% is about as low as this DLC is probably gonna go I would think? what do you guys think should I jump?
I did the same as you. I'm willing to wait, since I haven't started playing the game yet and have Skyrim to keep me busy for a while anyway.
The Total War pack is tempting. If I liked Age of Empires (Age of Mythology was my favorite), would I like the Total War series as well?
yup.

In all honestly, Shogun 2 is the best on every level (audio, video, user interface, artificial intelligence, scenarios, unit types . . .), but Med 2 and Rome are probably still worth playing. $12 isn't asking too much for people who don't mind playing something a little older.

My personal valuation of the games in the TW series is that Rome is worth $5, Med 2 maybe $7, Emp and Nap - not worth my time, and Shogun 2 - a million bucks.

All the total war games are good (though Empire and Napoleon tend to be hit or miss as from what I've seen people either like them or hate them) . Shogun 2 is clearly the most advanced one as its the latest one they released, but the older ones are still a lot of fun. (though your fun may vary depending on your interest and enjoyment of the time periods they are set in) Still for $12 your getting all the total war games on steam except Shogun 2 and there's a lot of fun to be had there.

Yeah, I decided to get it. I've heard good things of Rome and Medieval. I do enjoy the time period of Empire so I might like that more than others have. Some of the negative reviews on Amazon were about its buggy release so I assume that's been patched.

If I like them, I'll save Shogun for the next sale (assuming I'll have played any of them by then).

I've been playing Saints Row The Third recently and I am enjoying it. I noticed Red Faction Guerilla used the same engine and the gameplay look similar. Does RF:G let you play customizable characters in the campaign?
Dont get your hopes up too much. Seems like steam deals often bang, fizzle bang. You get big start and big end but much of the middle sucks.
I'm not asking for much. Just Sims content 75% off, is all. ;)

No in Red Faction Guerilla you play a set character. Though I do have to say I enjoyed the destruction aspect Guerilla offered.

Also, thank god I have never joined in on that Black Friday fad... the deals they have online are FAAAR better than what they have in brick and mortar stores. That holiday bundle for consoles was the same price on Amazon.

Yeah, Amazon has been running some sick stuff. I had no temptation to go into the madness this year.

Also, Steam games don't go out of stock. :D

Dues Ex! Dead Island!
Damn that Serious Sam pack is 90% off!
The GTA Collection for 12 is "essential" if you have yet to buy and/or play those on the PC. Includes GTA:IV and EFLC.
Massive Massive gameplay for $12. damn server just crashed rofl. I got em all but EFLC, but wish it was more $5.

I recently played and beat the Back to the Future game. I thought it was absolutely terrific and had a blast. Highly, highly recommended for fans of the movies. By far my favorite Telltale games to date.

They have Ran out of keys occasionally.

Is it bad I own 8 out of 12 of the daily deals .

Space Marine is still too much and no interest in BTTF. I own the rest although I do own GTA IV on PS3 with expansions.

I know Deus Ex will (probably) be 50% off next month again, and I have many games in the backlog to finish until then. So why is it so hard for me to resist?
King Arthur was $4 for a few minutes, wasn't it?
Yeah I think so. I missed out and probably wont buy it now.
Decent deals, but Dead Island and Deus Ex aren't cheap enough for me yet. Gona hold out for the Christmas sale.
I'm thinking the same. New releases seem to be free falling in price a lot faster than they used to. I might regret passing them up as they might not be discounted as much during the Holiday sale but I can live without playing them for now.
King Arthur was $4 for a few minutes, wasn't it?
Yeah it was and it was $5 summer sale where I picked it up then.

Also KOTOR was $2.50 summer sale. Just saying.
king arthur collection 90% off I am sold.
ok what the fuck, i added it to my cart, went through checkout then suddenly, 101 error! all items have been removed from your cart! and now its 16$?

eat a dick steam.
