Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Which retail CD Keys are accepted on Steam?

Decide to start on the winter achievements, atom zombie smasher one was pretty simple.
Done will but large number achievements for that game it seems.

So the winter 2011 sale is coming up anytime now - so excited!! Here are some awesome classics I highly recommend if they go on sale during the madness. And rest assured, these are also games I put a good deal of hours into!

- Lead and Gold (Got it for a measly $2 awhile back - extremely addictive for me. Just needs more damn players online. )

- Bully
(LOVED it. Runs great on my PC. Controls can be learned fine. Easily worth $5 or less)

- Beat Hazard
(Omfg, your music will come back to life! The one and only music game I play where your music determines the gameplay!)

Cogs
(For the brainer type, this is a fairly intricate mechanical puzzle solver for the engineer/steam punk types out there)

Kayne & Lynch 2
(bit underrated. solid action game with astonishing realism ambiance, etc)

LIMBO
(recently picked this up. Threw 6 hours into so far it and beat it. It's short but REALLY neat. $1-2.50 and this one is a winner)

I vote for more posts like this. Great games can be missed.

Lol a sale on that has already been confirmed. ;)

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Well, can't I get excited twice for the same thing?

Agreed! Noticed that this game has gotten a lot of criticism but gave it a chance for $2.50 - if you can get into the atmosphere its definitely worth it for a 4 hour diversion.

Here's what I'm hoping for:

Fallout 3 GOTY for $7.50
Renegade Ops for $3.75
Demigod for $3.33
Gal Civ II for $5
Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity for $5 (I already own Trinity on Impulse, but I want to get friends to buy it on Steam)
RAGE for $12.50 (unpossible)
Batman: Arkham City for $20 (unpossible)
Space Marine for $12.50 (unlikelypossible)
Serious Sam 3 for $10 (unpossible)
Sonic Generations for $7.50 (unpossible, but $15 could be possible)
Payday for $5 (possible)

Decided to knock out some achievements tonight. Started with Counter-Strike, then Team Fortress 2... which I accidentally ended up playing for a few hours. Whoops. Only picked up one present, too. Guess I shouldn't have stuck to the Medic... but our team needed one.

No, no, must remember priorities. Cheevos over being a good teammate.

"Unpossible"... Lol.

Hoping for at least half off on Serious Sam 3, Sonic Generations and under $5 for Psychonauts. Can't wait for the sale to start. Steam sales give me a reason to be excited to get out of bed. :D
Do want call of cthulhu sub 5
Talk about greedy. That game doesn't like to go on sale for the cheap, and when it does, it's not sub-$5. It hit $5 once in the history of the universe (which means it might happen again). Usually, it's $7.50.

After the previous SS games, you'd be silly to pay over $10 for SS3. Probably could have SS3 for under $5 with just a hair's worth of patience.

Speaking of patience, I received a copy of Renegade Ops for free from a kind gift giver and I wish I could give the game back to him and let him gift it to someone else who would enjoy it more. It's a boring, boring game. Then again, he hadn't played his copy at all so... guess he had money to burn.

If you want a recommendation, I'll give them day by day when I see the sales. You can only plumb the Steam depths of forgotten games so many times before you just start coming up empty and I'm past that point. But my first and foremost recommendation? Payday: The Heist. Been having tremendous fun with it. It's basically Left 4 Dead with cops and it's tremendously fun and enjoyable even with random players. It will no doubt have a daily special and I highly recommend you pick it up. It's just a damn fun game.

The Christmas cheevo for it is easy. Christmas presents are dropped in specific locations each level. Grabbing one (And they don't despawn for the others so everyone can get one.) will get you the cheevo and a Santa mask. There's one in the vault in the Bank level, across from the exit in Panic Room, at the top of the under construction building in Bridge, and probably in the other maps too. You won't miss the one in the bank though unless you never make it to the vault for whatever reason.

You know what you are talking about! This is such fantastic game, plus, the developers are working to keep the game updated!

The only negative thing I have heard about this game is the community sucks and will boot people for not being a high enough level. To those people, I say 'Hi, my name is SCMoney360 on steam, I just want to play Payday like you! LET'S DO IT!'

Im only a 35 or 36, but the game is a blast. I have only played it with 1 other person so far, I can only imagine how great it would be with 3 others.

I really don't see SS3 dropping much lower than $20 at least until the summer sale if even then. If it hits $20 or less, I'm grabbing it since I've really been wanting to play but didn't want to pay MSRP.

Games I'm looking forward to in t3h s@leZ DailyDeeeeees 8D:

Stronghold Collection WITH Stronghold 3. BETTER have #3.
Saints Row: The Third
TES: Skyrim (soon, there will be SA meetings - Skyrim's Anonymous)
Anno 2070
Sims 3
Payday (shoulda picked it up in the last recent sale for $5, now regretting)
Fallout Classics Collection (if you liked Diablo series and Fallout 3+, def try them)

I don't think I've ever seen you post a good review for a game, wether it's trolling or honesty I do enjoy your posts :applause:

Those are some horrible, horrible games as part of the Winter Achievement group.

Jurassic Park: The Game?
A Game of Thrones: Genesis?
Dino D-Day?
E.Y.E?
Nuclear Dawn?

Steam would have to pay *me* to buy those piles.

Some of these acheivements are a lot more grindy than the ones in the Summer sale, too.
Brace yourself.

For anyone who wants to get a head start on bringing the Steam servers to their knees... the complete packs are already showing up under specials
I wonder how many times everyone will say, "Wait to buy anything until the final day of the sale, unless it's a daily deal," before this sale is over? :D
Probably not as much as "This sale sucks, the sales 2 years ago were way better!"

My limit is around 100 bucks for this sale. Im not too worried about exceeding that. I have more games in the ol' backlog than I have time to play, so I can be picky with my purchases.

Hoping for a sweet deal on Portal 2, or the other 25 games in my wish list.

I enjoy, "Recettear was in a bundle of 5 games for 5 dollars. I wanna wait for it to be $1 again!"

:D

I bought Fable 1. $2.49 hard to argue and I liked the game when I played it on the Xbox when it first came out, even if you became wtf god like powerful

Steam already got a sale off me and the sale hasn't even officially started...........this does not bode well for me
Interesting. I didn't know Fable II wasn't on Steam.
It's not. Fable: TLC and Fable III + DLC make up the Fable Franchise package.

The summer sale was pretty lame, so I don't have high hopes for this one. However, it is my first Xmas sale on Steam. Are these typically better than the summer sales?

WELCOME ABOARD! and yes, theyre usually better

I don't even think Fable II was available for PC. Only Xbox 360. I could be wrong.
