We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

It actually did have a timer. It was like, 48 hours. Maybe it's supposed to be a daily deal for tomorrow or something, and just went up too early?
 
I just got the Majesty 2 collection from spiral knights. Now that's one I haven't seen from other people. Now to keep or trade is the question. I did enjoy the first majesty. And the one on my phone is fun enough. Anyone play the second?

It's fantastic, if you trade that away you might as well trade away one of your eyes or maybe a finger because that's just as useful to living a long happy life.

Yeah, I've noticed that games in my wishlist have unstable prices during this sale. I suppose you just have to pounce when the price is low.

Now to spend an hour figuring out how to get this achievement to add to my growing collection of coupons I'll never use :D.
 
It sucks with randoms, but almost every person is trying to get the achievement. It's a straight rip off of LoL
 
I have Torchlight from buying a retail copy long before I ever heard of steam. Is there any way to activate it on steam so i could get achievements and such on there, or is my only option rebuying it through them to do so?

Fifteen minutes to figure out the game mechanics, and discover that the Ent is a healer, not a fighter. Twenty minutes to try for the achievement and lose. Half an hour to try for the achievement and win.

Results: a lump of coal.

Thirty seconds to uninstall the game and never play again.

Somewhat , After DOTA , which LoL was based off , Its become a genre almost. Speaking of that , I'm surprised that LoL doesn't have Steam Support.

Just had a bartering session with holm5073 for Killing Floor. After negotiating his price of Borderlands and Magicka, plus 2 coal, we make the exchange. And it's a Killing Floor guest pass, not the full game. =\ So he offers a Dead Island key for the inconvenience, and after redeeming it I see "Eastern European" on the product activation page. He wanted something else in exchange, but I declined. Now I'm worried that my account will be banned. Does this typically happen? Will my account be banned for redeeming it? Any way to prevent that?

Unless I am mistaken they won't ban your account because its not like you knew about it before hand. (though if your concerned about it you could always open up a support ticket with steam and explain what happened)

Ugh. What a pain in the ass. Maybe check with Steam support? Or hide and hope nothing happens.

I'll try the support ticket. People have posted about getting banned for redeeming foreign keys they got from SteamGifts due to the currency exchange rate. I have 300-something games, so yeah...better to be cautious. I screencapped everything anyway.

I am almost certain the accounts get banned for keys bought with stolen cc numbers. Once the chargeback happens the keys die and accounts tied to them banned. Ask around a lot of people have had foreign keys tied to their accounts for a long long time.
 
Whoever came up with the idea for this event needs to be shot: I just won at 50% off avalon the black fortress coupon. Woo, it's 75% off today. Brilliant move, I basically got less than nothing!

EDIT: And I had the joy of working through Defcon's horribly crashy brokenness to get it.
 
I've got multiple Russian keys on my Steam account with no issue. About the worst thing Steam has ever done for gray market keys is remove the game from your Steam account, haven't heard of anyone being banned over them. In fact I even have an eastern euro Dead Island key and have for some months now.
 
Haven't had any luck this winter. I have twelve objectives completed and I only have gotten crappy coupons.

Although, I did end up getting Deus Ex: HR for $5 on Amazon today (had a $5 giftcard). Much better than any Steam deal thus far.
 
I know there's a trading thread but I thought I'd put this in here as well. I got the Valve Complete pack from the gift pile but have all the Valve games I want. I want RAGE. (I'd also like 3 coal but that's more of a bonus. PM me.

Man, I'm pretty sad Silent Hill Homecoming wasn't $5 - Between that and Rocket Knight staying above $7.49, Konami's giving us PC users the CAPCOM treatment.

That Binding of Issac achievement is like a double shot of hell. Play the game over and over until you find Krampus. Then you actually have to fight him :lol:.

I tried for like 30 minutes today with no luck.
 
Crafted 7 coal and got... Portal 2! Not too bad at all. Now I'm probably going to have tons of crappy gifts in the coming week, though.

Man, people seem to be getting some pretty good games out of these coal crafting sessions. I'm quite jealous, since I don't own most of the games for these challenges, and I don't have the time to attempt them.

As long as there are Daily Deals, I'm quite content.

Interesting alternative, but, ideally, I'd like to craft something at least once.

Even if I end up with something lame (You could do worse than DOOM3, pROvIs.), I can always see if someone wants to trade.

I'm guessing someone pulled the trigger on the deal too early. Earlier in the day, it didn't have a timer. Then it had a 48 hour timer, despite being a "daily deal". My guess is it was meant to go on sale tomorrow and be one of the Gift Pile objectives (since it has two holiday achievements), but it went up early by mistake.

I believe I'm on a 5-6 streak of getting nothing but coal. I can't really say that that's a bad thing, which probably says more about this event than anything. At least the coal gives me a chance of getting something (regardless of how miniscule that chance is), whereas all the coupons I have gotten are guaranteed to rot. Hell, I'd rather be able to craft 7 coupons into another pull from the Gift Pile.
 
Binding of Isaac is barely good enough for normal play, but grinding to get a guy who only has a 5% spawn chance in rooms whose spawn chances are well below 33% to begin with? Good heavens no.

Shouldn't be too hard, just stick with everybody else and make sure you get at least 1 hit on someone before they are killed.
