We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

That's because it has been added to the humble bundle 4 for those who pay more than average. I redeemed my own code and it showed up as Humble Indie Bundle 4 and something extra I can't remember, probably hinting at that it's bundle 3.
 
I just won "Holiday Sale 2011 Gift: Valve Complete 2011 Pack". If I unpack it do I get giftable copies of the games I already own? Anyone know?

I think some games are giftable and some are not. When I bought Orange Box I was only able to gift HL2-HL2:EP2 or something, and this was before TF2 went f2p (I owned Portal and TF2 already but they said I wouldn't get giftable versions of those).
 
I think I've actually been pretty lucky in terms of my achievement prizes. I now have 7 coal, 3 games and 0 coupons :). The 3 games I got were: Half Life 1, Nuclear Dawn (which I traded for Bastion), and Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword (which I am currently trying to trade).

Edit: Just traded M&B With F&S for Torchlight :). I love this event.

I got an email from Gamesplanet saying they have it for half off with the code Dead50. I don't know how that compares with Steam.
 
Today is the first day that I've managed to complete all of the achievements. *self-high-five*

Interestingly, I think I'll go back and play Frozen Synapse and Fate of the World again properly when all of this has died down a bit, they were interesting :)
 
Really hoping for Stronghold 3 (or the whole collection+3 to go on sale).
then Skyrim...but that's much less realistic with the reception and meta rating.

Then Sims 3 just to see what I've been missing out on. Personally, I think they should bring back the Sims 1 in one huge "optimized" pack because of it's simplicity and graphics. Sims 2 really killed it for me because of code performance issues and gameplay complexity that went over my head. Perhaps Sims 3 is even more complex tho with neighborhoods and what not.

I'm surprised how complex Frozen Synapse is...the learn curve definitely takes some dedication. I'm a little disappointed by the graphics, but it is still a game that focuses more on strategy gameplay than graphics i suppose. Personally, I think the controls system feels more AutoCAD (or animation software) than game. I'll keep at it to see where things pick up.

I got the 2-pack and traded my 2nd copy for EYE. Another sci-fi game that is fairly polished in graphics, but also a bit "out-there." It uses a ton of the source engine too. For a 6GB game, I'd except more of the characters to talk with audio instead of text. Still, I can see a lot of work was put into it. For getting it for about a $1 though, not too bad. On the bright side, it's one of the most bizarre games I've ever played.

You can't even save and reload - you only continue with limited respawns - only limited deaths allowed or something.

It's the RPG equivalent to Metal Gear Solid games!!! Breathtaking story, graphics, gameplay mechanics... It is the ultimate game to get if you can't afford Skyrim. Man this is way better than I excepted.

Really happy Dungeon Defenders hit $2 on Amazon. Now I can cop friends into buying it :lol:. I hope the game dailies on Steam soon so I can get cheap DLC.

The no saving is a problem for me with EYE. It's not that I can't save and reload but more so that it's a source engine game and well source engine games for me are very buggy sometimes and if the game crashes I need to restart the whole level from nothing (which it did at least twice yesterday).

Played some more Renegade Ops last night, wow I love that game more than I thought I would. Fun little game.

Prototype also 75% off, for $7.49. Worth it?
 
The inventory loaded fast. I already had three achievements, and got 1 coal, and two coupons: 50% off Warhammer 40.000 Dawn of War II and 50%off Crazy Machines2. Meh.
 
Hmm.. how is today's free achievement? Crimecraft GangWars? It looks.. kinda stupid. -_- I wonder if it's an easy achievement to get, so I can DL and uninstall it.. lol

Skyrim at $40 isn't bad, though.

oh and can someone add me to the Steam group?

so for the And Yet It Moves achievement I got another coal. I also bought Hard Reset and going to see how that game is. I seen some decent gameplay of it so why not.

I am also really liking Dungeon Defender. Pretty fun little game.
 
How much was Renegade Ops going for on Amazon? Could have sworn it was cheaper than Steam's offer.

Tempted by Hard Reset, but I heard that there is another, newer version coming out later this year?

$2.99 through Amazon and apparently came with the DLC. I've also heard about another version of Hard Reset but it willl probably be added to Steam as a DLC or update pack if true.
