We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.

Steam is killing it for me this sale. Rage, Hard Reset, Borderlands: GOTY and Fallout 3: GOTY all in the past few days. :D Very tempted by Alice as well, since I traded my PS3 copy off when I beat it, but I think I'll just get that version back so I'll have my cleared save and can start a new game +.
 
Well, done and done. I told myself NOT to buy anything else until I finish my current playlist... and then went through my large backlog. Now I have CoH pack and installing now. And because of the holidays with family... I have no idea when I'll be getting to it!

You should add me on Steam. It's RayLancer. I don't play CoH competitively anymore but we could always do some "co-op" multiplayer against the AI :)
 
Christmas miracle! A coupon I might actually use! 66% off Singularity, which is a lot more than its sale price right now.

EDIT: Can anyone tell me what X3 gameplay is like? The trailers tell me nothing.

I played for about 2-3 hours during the free weekend and it was a decent time. Big maps and big battles. The only thing I could say against it is that it's really hard to bounce back if you're losing. The enemy commander can build structures right up to your base's doorstep. If that happens, there's a lot of spawning and dying within 10-20 seconds. I don't know if this is a common thing that happens or if the team I was on just sucked :p
 
Finally Batman AA for $5. Been (sort of) waiting a year for this and skipping it I don't know how many times for $7.5. Got this, Skyrim yesterday and Saints Row the Third THQ deal the day before. Really tempted on Alice, although I've got a huge backlog and just bought three excellent AAA games that I need to get through first. It's a good thing I resisted Rage, although I wanted that too.
 
Only thing I've grabbed thus far is Limbo and Jamestown DLC. Held off on getting Hard Reset with the hopes of trading for it or waiting for the Extended Edition.
 
Does Arkham Asylum have Gamepad support? It seems like the kind of game I would like to use a controller for.

Also, what are your opinions on IL2? Looks pretty cool, but I don't have a joystick, just mouse and keyboard or a 360 controller.

As it is it only supports the wired xbox controller, but there's a program called x360ce that you can d/l so you can use any 3rd party controller.

It's similar but also pretty different. And honestly, if you go into it hoping for DK you're going to be disappointed.

I suggest trying the demo.

i know right, I'm still gonna pick up FO3 today but hold off on the F:NV DLC.
 
I was waiting on Alice Madness Returns to go on sale was hoping it would hit $10 so $7.50 is an instant-buy for me, also picked Company of Heroes that review video posted earlier in the thread convinced me to buy it. I debated buying the Splinter Cell Echelon Pack (4 SC games for $12) but decided against it and just got Conviction instead

still a lot of days left on this sale, I'm hoping to see more EA games go on sale especially Bulletstorm, Dead Space 2 and Medal of Honor
 
Sigh Steam failed me. I went to buy my cousin Skyrim and Fallout 3 GOTY and I kept getting:

" Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.

Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again."

I did this several time with PayPal and I kept saying that message. So I went back and bought it using my Credit Card and now I have 2x Skyrim and 2x Fallout 3 GOTY -.-
 
Is it weird that none of the games that had Christmas day related achievements are part of the daily tasks? I thought for sure they would be.

That message pops up when you have made too many Steam purchases in a short time, no matter what card you use.

Contact customer service, I'm sure they'll straighten your Skyrim/FO3 mess out

Yea, I went ahead and contacted them. The weirdest thing is I got that error message with the first PayPal purchase I made for the day on Steam.

I was thinking of biting on X3 - the steam forums talked me out of it. Critiques like poor friendly AI, a difficult and poorly designed interface, and long time to get rolling in the game are deal-breakers on my end.

However, I've never played and would welcome positive opinions.
 
Nuclear Dawn is a dollar cheaper at amazon direct download and it activates on steam. Also Modern Warfare 3 dd is only 35 bucks at amazon right now and activates on steam also. Already bought and activated it myself.

Today is great. I just traded valve complete 2011 and fallout 3 goty for skyrim!

K/M works fine for me. It can be tough, but it isn't that bad.

I haven't tried gamepad so I cannot speak to it though.
 
Been looking for Fallout 3 GOTY for $10 or less since black friday, finally got it on Christmas, nice.

I picked it up for $5 in October or November, I don't remember if it was a sale or a daily deal.
 
Yay, I have a use for my X3: Gold pack I was gifted on the first day with Albion now discounted!
Now all I have is...a metric crapton of coal, 11 to be exact. And counting.
 
Anyone else having problem with the Atom Zombie Smasher's achievement?

Tried it first time, found it incredibly difficult, tried a few more times until reached wave 7 with 70% speed and ended it on wave 9, but achievement is not appearing as complete neither on game nor community. Tried it for a second time, died on wave 8, same thing...

Found out that you can increase speed with + and - , tried a round with 100% speed and ended dying easily on wave 10, but still no achievement unlocked...

Ugh...
 
By the way, this may not be the appropriate venue, but I have the following that I'd like to trade for some extra coal:

I have no use for any of them, and I just want to craft 10 coal for the halibut.

I think I got 3 or 4 coupons I have no interest in, one coal, a free game that costs 67 cents new and I'm not interested in, and then 2 more coal. So nothing good for me, but whatever. It was free.
 
Anyone see a pattern in the gifts? I feel like the ones I'm doing cheaply (savegames) or quickly (AYIM) give me coal, the one I actually put some effort into (EYE) netted me a game, and the ones I had ahead of time got me coupons. More likely me brain's trying to find signal through the noise [

Grab X3:TC from Gamersgate instead - $2.54. It'll unlock on Steam, has plenty of great mods available, and if you like it, you'll love it.

The interface is what it is - a paper manual with a list of controls used to make it very simple. Print out the controls from the instruction manual .pdf and do the flight training at the beginning (less than five minutes).

You'll get out what you put in. It's a slow-paced game and possibly a little bit out-of-place in today's world of 5-minute indie game and 6-hour generic army guy / space marine campaign games. But if you're after a space shooter, Freelancer is still pretty good and immediately gratifying, and gog.com has Freespace 2.

Did this a couple days ago, found it was easiest to let a lot of the population die off early and just focus on keeping a small group of survivors alive.

I'm not seeing that pattern, the one game I won was from doing the trade an item achievement. I spent 20+ minutes on others and got coal for them.
