Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Ugh, Rise of the Immortals is a PITA. Only managed 8 assists on my first game, took 45 minutes. Not sure I really want to put in the time to figure out how to get to 20 in a single match.
I think the Achievement wasn't really well thought out. It took me about 5 minutes for the tutorial and playing a 3 player PVE match about 45 minutes to an hour. I didn't get my last assist until about 5 minutes until the end. The problem is everyone was going for the achievement. No one would hit the boss for the killing blow. They would get them low and run away.

This happened in my game as well - I tried to coordinate a 'sharing' system of last hits - but of course it's the internet and nobody would have any of it. I was a bad team player and rage-quit. Not giving it another try.

Interesting it looks like the Nuclear Dawn team removed their earlier tweet that they were going IndieRoyale.com I'm sure it doesn't mean they change their mind but I couldn't help thinking that it was a really unfortunate thing to post during a sale that would net them so much more profit.

Bought Sequence and finally bit on Beat Hazard/Ultra/iTunes DLC.

Doing well, still have money left in my cheap-ass budget for this sale. Bring it, Steam.
I just received what has to be one of the worlds oddest games as a reward for my recommendation of KOTOR. Anyone ever played Farming Simulator 2011???
Haha, yes I've played it. Its just about as boring as real farming IMO.

The GiantBomb Quicklook of it is hilarious though.

Hah, feels good to help a fellow CAG save some buck instead of vice versa for a change =) Hope "The End" enjoys his platinum edition of Dawn of War.
Ditto, I really want Stronghold 3. I've never played any of them but always remember staring at the box when you could still find PC games in stores and wanting it. I can wait for it to hit $10 though.
You should try out the first stronghold. Despite it's horrible graphics it's still entertaining as hell! The best castle sim I've ever played. Stronghold 2 sucks though. They added too much micro management into that one. It's so rediculous, that in any skirmish game your're too busy trying just to keep your townsfolk happy while your computer opponents are building massive armies...

Thanks again man.

I'm holding out for 2012. They added 12 new John Deer Models, completely redid the tractor simulation, and added PC Kinect support for bailing hay. 2013 is rumored to have Cow Tipping, and a sneaking out with the farmer's daughter mini game as well that looks promising.

On another note, is it correct to assume that Solar 2 is just another twin stick shooter? I get board of these faster than a Kid with ADD in a staring contest.

Bought Sequence and am trying to beat the Whompa. I don't want to come off as some kind of music game ass but I own all the DJ Max games (even Trilogy for the PC) and this game's timing is really off. That or my Xbox 360 controller sucks for this game.

The dialog and voice acting is, well, let's just say that if I wanted to hear people talk to each other like that I'd hang out with my emo cousins. My eyes can't roll any further back in my head. The art is nice but I feel like it's out of place in a game like this.

I hope the game gets better...

EDIT: Beat the Whompa a moment ago. I think the problem with the game is that (with a controller) you're essentially given two pads to play with, the d-pad and the A, B, X, and Y buttons. Think dual-pad Dance Dance Revolution. Normally this would be fine but the Xbox 360 (official) controller I have has terrible d-pad response. I think there's some merit to the game but it's not quite for me. I'll play it some more so I don't pass judgment based on just a handful of battles but right now I'm moving on to another game.
Ehhh was hoping for a better deal on Fear 3. I'll continue to wait.
It's $12.49 at GetGamesGo. I'm interested but still not sure if I want to bite at more than $10. http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/fear-3
What is it folks find is off-putting about And Yet it Move's art style?
The main character is what turned me off. Did not like his look one bit.

Anyway, nothing standing out to me today. I thought the Gothic 4 demo was decent but I don't really need to play it right away and I have a feeling it will be $2.49 or less during the next sale. Probably pick up Binding of Isaac and Worms Crazy Golf though.
was really interested in Stronghold 3 until I saw the $33.49 price and then the 47 metacritic score
Holy sh*t that's a crappy score... wow. I didn't even notice. That doesn't bode well :( I'll be wary to buy it for too much then. But I will still definitely get it.

Nope! No shooting that I've seen with my time with it. You play as an asteroid and eventually work your way up to being a planet and a star (with other planets revolving around it) through colliding and absorbing other things. There are missions/challenges as well. Your little planets can grow life and create ships sometimes too and you can get in fights with other planets/solar systems. Neat little game, if just a bit chill and definitely different. Check out the demo.

Yeah played Solar 2 a little, can't really put my finger on why its fun, but for some reason it is to me. But yeah nothing shooter about it.

Yeah, it's vexing to say the least.

For people who haven't played Sequence, the characters engage in this sort of cheeky, contrived banter as if they were Regis and Kelly.

Anyone else having problems buying games from steam right now? I'm trying to make another CAG happy with a cheap european deal but steam won't let me -.-

I would describe it more like disaffected, emo, self-referential, hipster dialog. Seriously, it's pretty bad.

No, but I've been having trouble accessing my inventory.

I rather liked the cheeky nonsense dialogue in Sequence but it is absolutely nerds writing nerds thinking they are so clever. I do not begrudge anyone who hates it. It is poured on just as thick as Aaaaah's awful random nonsense.

The voice acting is pretty good though, in my opinion. I think the main protagonist is voiced by the lead guy behind the game, which is nice to see a programmer able to do decent voice work. Just... get someone else to do the dialogue. Too much talent in that game to go to waste like it did.

The plot is pretty decent though but, yeah, stylistically, graphically, tonally, it's all over the place. It's a game that really should have gone to committee
Dejobaan complete pack is silly. Aaaaah For the Awesome REPLACES Aaaah A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. And 1 2 3 Kick It is a forever unfinished tech demo. Just get For The Awesome.

Note that the For The Awesome cheevo requires you do well on six pretty tricky levels. It's not beyond your abilities but if you're just starting the game it'll be a bit of work.
The Wonderful End of the World (and the maybe-later 1, 2, 3, Kick It) isn't worth the extra money?

Doh. Keep forgetting about Wonderful End of the World. That one I haven't played.
Thanks for the reply! I'll have to give that a try once I get home in a little bit :)
Just played a solo game on beginner and got the achievement at the start of the 3rd wave :)

For those who want to know, the achievement is titled "A Bloody Christmas Carol"

P.S. I got a 25% off Valve coupon for completing it :p

See, I really enjoy the writing, but to me the voice acting is so-so. One of my friends said, and I'm not sure he's wrong, that it's the "definition of phoned in". Not that I'm not enjoying the game, but the VA could us a bit of work.

Edit: Does anyone know if AAaaaaAAAAaaaaaAAAAA or whatever the hell it is has been on sale at 75% for the entire sale, or if it's one of the hidden dailies?

If you ever wanted a mediocre Katamari clone for your computer, The Wonderful End of the World is for you.

It feels like the developer (Dejobanananananaan something or other) never quite finishes their games. They always seem to have, at least with 123 Kick It and TWEOTW, a lack of content or polish.
The Wonderful End of the World (and the maybe-later 1, 2, 3, Kick It) isn't worth the extra money?
TWEotW is an average Katamari clone. 1,2,3 Kick It is a terrible pre-alpha quality tech demo and is the reason I will not be giving Dejobaan any more of my money in the foreseeable future.

This is exactly the opposite of Bulletstorm then where I think the voice acting is great but the dialog is awful. "I'm going to shoot your dick, you dick!"

Did recommend and jamestown today, 2 coal. I liked Prince of Persia 2008 a lot, it may not be for everyone but it's a good game. Forgotten Sands is good as well but I had trouble with a jumping sequence near the end and gave up, never finished.

For what it's worth I loved POP 2008. I got the full 1000/1000 Gamerscore for it on xbox. The DLC was garbage though so I never bought it. The enemies do get repetitive but the platforming is great and the "You can never die" thing didn't bother me.

I got platinum trophy on PS3 and I bought the DLC later at 50% off but haven't played that. I liked the characters, and I liked the idea of avoiding giving the player a Game Over/Retry screen. People didn't like it but it's a good idea.

The art style was beautiful too with the cel-shading. Plus, the voice acting was good, with Nolan North doing his thang with a well-written script. Too many hate on the game.

The DLC never appealed to me because it was the exact same bosses just all in the same level. :shame: No fuck ing Thanks.

Yes the dialog between the two characters was awesome.

What do you guys think the odds are on UT3 Black or the Unreal Deal Pack being one of the upcoming daily deals? I'm waiting til the last day of the sale just in case.
Do you guys see Mount and Blade being 75% off so I can get Warband for $5?
I think they already had a Mount and Blade day but maybe I am wrong?
What do you guys think the odds are on UT3 Black or the Unreal Deal Pack being one of the upcoming daily deals? I'm waiting til the last day of the sale just in case.
Very little to none. I've never seen dailies for those games and they are already 75% off.

The video for solar 2 made me think of osmos a little bit.
For now Dejobaan Complete Pack with the gundemonium collection on the maybe at the end of the sale list.
For some added sale related fun you could try messing around with this website a bit. Since you're spending time doing achievements for a somewhat similar result. http://www.steamgifts.com/
