Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Does anyone have a recommendation for any of the Star Wars games?

Keep in mind I haven't played a Star Wars game since the N64.
If you like Star Wars and the Genre they are based on they are very good games in their respective genre. If you don't like Star Wars you probably won't. Some are older and require tinkering with ini files to get widescreen and/or higher resolutions.
I've got three of the four classes at level 70 (last one is 68, I think?) so collar me later on and I'll run you through it.

Same goes for anybody who needs it.

Steam ID - Flowette
Friend request sent. Not sure if or when I could take you up on it, but thanks for offering.
'They got what was coming to them'? C'mon. There are people that deserve what comes to them at times. I wouldn't say the Humble Bundle, by organizing indie games in a pay what you want model, is one of them. You are inferring they have done us all a great injustice and are receiving their comeuppance. What awful people. We certainly can use this swift retribution to them as a life long lesson on how to solve all of our world problems.
I think it's more that they seem to market these bundles as some kind of social experiment to prove that people are good. You don't need to offer free crap on the internet to know that people are dirtbags.

Has Dreamfall: The Longest Journey ever been lower than $4.99? It's been on my wishlist for ages and I've never seen it dip below 75%. I'd rather it be $2.49, but I may have to buy it before the sale's over.

I've never seen it for cheaper, though you can get it and The Longest Journey for 6.24 if you don't have TLJ. I got dreamfall last time it was $5
It just shows that people are dirtbags

I have no problem with people paying a penny if they literally have no money to spend, I don't mind at all what people pay for games they'll play themselves.

When it comes to buying extra copies they'll never play and turn a profit on that's where the problem comes in and those people are lowlifes and there's always hope those people will have horrible things happen in their lives like loved ones getting untreatable cancer and have to watch them wither away.

There's always hope lol
Yeah I don't mind if people pay a penny if they will play the games. I do not approve of buying 100 copies for one penny and then turning a profit on Steam just because they are that low.
Any links? I played through the tutorial/first level only and the achievement map kicked my butt.
The video here will get you up to 20 in about two hours with minimal effort. Just be sure to upgrade your towers. Start on normal until you get to level 3, then do hard until you get the crossbow tower then either do hard till about 10-11 or just go on doing insane for the first map.

I might do that then. Thanks for the heads up.
Therapy- Nope! You could enter a million giveaways without ever actually having to put something on the site. Many people wait until they have won something and then buy something to put up as a good karma thing. The only restrictions are that you cannot post games from the various indie bundles, however, bundle keys may be entered after the bundle has ended.
Cool I'll give it a try I guess. Still a slowpoke site tho :p

On the fence for KOTOR... cheap but not sure if I have time to play it. I also wanna play skyrim when it's cheaper and I don't have that much time.

I just won Terraria for the TF2 achievement though. First game I won. Already got it but it's nice to trade I suppose.

Also there's a shitload of DLC for Dawn of War 2... anything interesting in it that any of you know of? Not going to buy everything for 7,50 euros... too expensive.

Are there two separate achievement lists? I'm not seeing a team fortress 2 or dungeon defenders achievement for the holiday giveaway.

This is not a complaint, as I have been posting about achievements as well, but with all the game/coupon/coal hunting I miss those CAG posts that show a couple of hidden gems in the sale.

So far I have only Dark Void (2.99) and Dark Void Zero (0.99), not to mention CAG favorite Faerie Solitaire (1.00). Any other finds?
From now on, the Humble Indie Bundles will have a floor of $1.00:
http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/12/22/humble-indie-bundle-sets-minimum-1-donation-thanks-to-steam-scam/

I personally applaud that decision, as I am appalled at the people that take advantage of that service.
I agree completely. As someone that donates an admirable amount each time, I get upset thinking about the 50-cent contributions. For what's offered (Great indie games, Steam codes, potential game and bundle additions, etc.), people should be much more generous, and manipulating the bundle to scam Steam [of all things] is horribly disconcerting.

Legitimate PC users, such as myself and many of my CAGly friends, shouldn't have to be bundled (Bundled.) with the scammers and pirates.
Steamgifts is great! I can assure you there is nothing wrong with it, although every once in a while someone makes a fake giveaway. Basically every member on the site gets points every time someone posts a giveaway (I think it's 5% of the games value). You then use these points to enter giveaways based on the msrp value of the game (so sale prices are not factored in). Then if you are chosen to win the drawing, the person who put up the game gifts it to you. Many people go hundreds of entries without winning anything, but it is always worth a shot and I can assure you it works. I won my first game after about 300 hundred entries and it showed up as a gift in my steam account the next day. :)
Hope that helps therapy
Yeah, I am hoping the one giveaway I did win wasn't a fake one. The person put up two giveaways and one has been 6 days finished and still has no feedback. I really hope that it wasn't fake because I will love it if I actually won Avadon.

Depending on how many of the games I own I usually give between $3-$10. Less than that feels shady. However I am often buying these just to support bundles like them and a lot of times I wouldn't have bought the games anyway so I figure even at $3, it's $3 they wouldn't have had otherwise.

GOOD. Those who pay a penny for just one bundle, much less numerous bundles, end up costing the Bundle organizers money in storage, bandwidth, etc.

Very glad to hear this news!

Viva Humble Bundle!

Convinced my dad to get KOTOR. Picked up Sequence for myself. On the fence about DOW (original) and Disciples. Probably gonna pass. Still looking for kinda hidden gems that might not getdaily deal treatment.

If people are saying that coal is going for like 60 cents to a dollar (at least they said that earlier in the thread), I don't really see how this fixes it?
Seriously. I tend to set a $5 minimum on these, and I still feel like I give way too little. I can't even imagine giving them a penny to split between them.
I paid $6.25 for the bundle even though I already owned 2 of the games. I know it's not a huge amount but higher than average and with some sweet games. Then they throw in Humble Bundle 3 as a bonus and I really felt like I gave too little.

30 mins to go. I have a question, and might as well get it out of the way now in case it dailies.

Anyone here play or have played Hoard and is it any good? Looks interesting, but want to get a CAG's opinion on it.
I believe that is in regards to HiB IV not necessarily for the future bundles.
You may be right, but that would be really odd to me. The reason behind the $1.00 minimum is not something that is going to be obsolete. It's an issue that will forever be relevant, so they should just keep it.
Anyone here play or have played Hoard and is it any good? Looks interesting, but want to get a CAG's opinion on it.
I think it is a solid game. Difficulty seems to ramp up a lot, tho. I don't think I got the achevement last year because it was too difficult. It looks like this year's one is perhaps easier.

Thanks for reminding me of that. I have to fire it up...
Anyone here play or have played Hoard and is it any good? Looks interesting, but want to get a CAG's opinion on it.
Omg, I love Hoard. When I first discovered that game at a friend's house on his PS3, I was instantly hooked. Went home and my husband and I bought two copies for our Steam accounts. We played through all the co-op maps, and then even after he grew bored (not really liking games like that), I was off trying all the game modes, going for gold trophies, hopping online (and I never, ever play games online) to beat others.

The Dynamite Roll DLC is great, as it adds new maps and features. Flame-broiled Sandwich is just an Egyptian skin for the game, but I figure I'll get it by the end of the sale.

Yes, I enjoy the game so much I'll get a skin for it.

Oh, and there's a demo. Go play it, and fall in love.

That achievement was challenging, but there were safer places on that map where you were more likely to survive. I must have tried that achievement like 10 times before I got it. But I love Hoard so much, I didn't mind.

But yeah, any kind of Survival-style mode is likely to be brutal.

Looks like a Lara Crofts, Dungeon Defenders, Dead Spaces, Mechinarium, and Revenge of the Titans so far has hit.

Add to that Hearts of Iron, Assassin Creeds, Two Worlds, and Section 8.

Yeah, I read up on those, but I couldn't stay alive long enough to get the achevement.

Finally the Dungeon Defenders day. Hopefully they have that new DLC for cheap or reasonably cheap so I can get in on it.

It is legit source for downloadable games, took about ~3 minutes from checkout to receive code.

It's a legit website based in the UK. They recently did a charity bundle that a lot of douchebags exploited to get countless free Serious Sam Double D keys.
So who think there will be a thread restart after this sale?
Oh sure. There should probably always be a thread reset after each major sale.
So who think there will be a thread restart after this sale?
since this thread has 10K replies and well over 600K views, I'd say there a good chance there will be a new one once this sale is over

I bought Might and Magic Clash of Heroes from them a while back. Transaction went through okay and they emailed me the key which I then registered and downloaded through Steam.

They are based in the UK I believe so if you are somewhere else potentially your credit card company could flag the transaction for being in a different country. I've heard some people claim that happened to them with Get Games Go and also Green Man Gaming.
