Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Nice heads-up! That is indeed a really cool game. I will have to reinstall that some time now that I have my Xbox 360 controller working with my PC. I couldn't control it well with KBM, but that's probably just me.

I have a question about Grand Theft Auto IV. Is there a "Car Handling mod" that makes driving feel more like the PS2 GTA's?

I truly hated the slip-'n-slide handling of GTAIV when I played it through on the 360.
The game was patched about a week ago to be clearer and offer more time for players. Looks like it worked :D
I did the achievement at the start of the sale before it was apparently patched to make it easier and I still found it rather easy

How is Universe Sandbox? I'm getting a kind of Jodie Foster "Contact" vibe from it and I'm intrigued. There is something unimaginably haunting to me about feeling like a tiny atomic speck next to a giant planetary body, much like the movie, but it absolutely fascinates me. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone :)
Any thoughts on Driver San Francisco? I know it's not a bargain, but I haven't spent much this sale and the game looks really fun.
Same.

T-Money, will Amazon beat this deal?

I don't know what they're talking about with a 360 pad fix for the game, but I found this and maybe it's useful to someone:

I wonder what I need to do to get the Puzzle Agent 2 achievement... I've already exceeded the dollar amount needed, I believe.

Edit: Oh, I see. It's just the amount for one puzzle. Should get it in a sec.

Does the key activate on Origin by chance?
I am with you, I tried those levels once and laughed.
I don't mind hard, but theze (fan-made?) levels are also poorly paced and shoddily designed, which is where challenge becomes frustration, at least for me. Ugh.

I 100%'d Super Meat Boy on the Xbox, but these levels? Pass.

I had already finished and uninstalled the game, so I reinstalled and started it, and when I got to the case file the achievement unlocked.

picking up New Vegas I was waiting for it since the this sale started, not picking up any of the DLC though until I know it plays nice with my pc. I had a difficult time getting Fallout 3 run on a newly built rig the game just kept on crashing whenever I made it out of the vault

Still have time time on the Two Tribes pack. I was considering picking it up for the (at least 2) achievements, but I'm not sure. I figure these games are bound to show up in a bundle sooner or later :/

Man I hope tomorrow we'll see the Champions Online achievement. I already got it the other day and I'd hate to think I wasted 3 hours for no reason :(

No idea. Looks like it has Securom which I can live with, didn't find a deauthorize tool after a few minutes searching google, maybe you can do it through the Securom utility. Downloading now. Kinda concerning that paying via Paypal on Direct2Drive I never had to log into Paypal or type in my password. Odd.
Thanks - mulling new vegas but I know I won't play it until the complete edition is launched in the coming months.
It's gonna launch at full price, this is $15 now for all the major content. The new weapons are passable, and that pre order DLC pack is accessible by console commands anyway.
Wow, I really dont want to do any of these acheievements today lol
I stopped doing achievements a couple days ago because I wanted to go back to playing games just for the fun of it.

Anyone that buys The Saboteur on D2D and uses Origin as well, can you try and activate it on there and see if you can please? I don't trust D2D since gamefly took over (more so due to the email saying that you should backup your games from them cause they might not have them all again, not that I trust Origin much at all anyways)

I didn't take that email to mean they may not have the games on Gamefly. They said they would have all the games but to back up in case there were any complications. They said non-game content like strategy guides will not transfer over. The message was clear that downloading your games was just a precaution, just in case.

If someone can give me an example of an Origin activation code I could see if my Saboteur code is in the same format, if that makes any sense.

Whoa, I re-read the D2D/Gamefly email and it's more along the lines of what you said after all: "Download your favorite game purchases from Direct2Drive. We plan to have as many game files as possible available on GameFly. Just to be sure, please download your old game files before the transition." I think I have my games downloaded from them already.

Thanks, reinstalling the game now.

Ok so looks like the Super Meat Boy servers got hacked and no one can do the achievement as of right now. What's bad is Team Meat was informed about the security flaw, and they said "Trust me it's fine" :wall:

The activation code should just be the cd key you get when you buy the game I think then just try and register that on Origin.

Yeah I don't like that email that D2D/GF sent out and that is why I'd like to at least know the game will be available from 2 different sources to download at least. Though I rather use Origin since I have it running for BF3 already.

Thanks in advance, I do appreciate it.

Which DLC for New Vegas is worth it? Buying all of them for me is roughly $12-13 (I live in Washington so tax :p) but as a true CAG I'm trying to shave a few bucks here and there. Thanks in advance!

Toki Tori is a clever and fun puzzler, one of my favorites. The snowflakes were a fun challenge.

Driver San Francisco is absolutely amazing. I love it dearly. Though on PC it has UbiDRM so it's up to you. Just a great great game.

Old World Blues hands down!
Old World Blues hands down!
Just Old World Blues? None of the others are worth playing?
So who in god's name was it?

*strokes chin*

Whoever, wherever, you are, well observed.

Also, fuck Toki Tori achievement. /RAGE
:applause:

The controls for that game are terrible.
How are the Fallout: New Vegas DLCs? Any of them considered must-own?
All are worth it if for nothing else than raising the level cap.
Two questions about today's sales:
1. What are the chances that HiB4 will be included as a bonus for paying more than the average for HiB5, and when is HiB5 supposed to come out? (asking b/c of Super Meat Boy)
2. Is Civ 5 noticeably better than Civ 4? If I didn't really like Civ 4 will I like Civ 5?
2. I've played Civ II, III, V, and Revolution, but not IV. From what I understand, Civ V is more streamlined than Civ IV to make it more approachable to newer players. So, if you didn't like Civ IV because it was too complicated, you might like Civ V. If it just didn't suit your tastes, though, you probably won't like Civ V.

On a related note, I finally bought the Civ V DLC. I skipped the Cradle of Civilization map packs, but bought all the civilization DLC for $11:

 • Babylon - $1.69
 • Spain/Inca Double Civ Pack - $2.54
 • Polynesia - $1.69
 • Denmark and Explorers Combo Pack - $2.54
 • Korea/Wonders Combo Pack - $2.54

Puzzle Agent 2 for me today. Got the first game in last year's $5 Indie Story Bundle and loved it. Also bit on Xotic for reasons not entirely clear to me.
Ah, it is time to post this again:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIRPcICB-iY
Haha, YES! Always makes me laugh! That Atkinson girl is so smokin hot.

Anyways I'm not even going to try the meatboy achievement. They probably chose that one because it was in the humble indie bundle. Nope, savegame achievement for me if there's going to be one.

And another boring sale day. I'll have to start looking for interesting non-dailies.
