We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

You could use paypal, but yeah you do need to provide a payment method. I recommend paypal, someone reported them putting a temporary $1 hold on their debit card, but you don't get any holds/charges when you use paypal.

If you do sign up for the trial, make sure to turn off auto-renew right afterwards, don't wait a few days to do it because they start charging you a couple days before the trial period has ended if you have it on.

I've signed up for the trial 3 or 4 times on the same account, and had zero issues.

Wait, so you can sign up for the trial, cancel, and then resign up for the trial at a later date?

Yep, it lets you do it multiple times. You can also cancel auto-renew and it'll still let you have the remaining time on the trial and won't charge you.

Oh and FYI, my inventory is also bugged. I can still see everything, but I can't unpack or send gifts. The only option is to view it in the store.

Yeah I think it's like that for everyone, although the send gift/unpack options now show up for some people.. but the buttons don't function properly yet. The issue is being worked out. It annoys me because I sent all of the items I bought during the sale to my gift inventory. I was planning on unpacking them whenever I would actually get around to playing them.. so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
 
I bought the Hoard Dynamite Roll DLC before its daily deal concluded and then grabbed the Hoard winter achievement a half an hour before the end of the sale event. I think it was my 26th objective. That, my last one, finally got me a game rather than coal or a coupon. DoD Source, which I didn't have.

I spent very little for this sale. Go me, I guess. The objectives were fun but the prizes underwhelming. I much preferred choosing from a pile of DLC over coupons and a scant chance at a game.

haha that sucks. Thats why i didn't bother with any of the winter achievements.

Oh, so disabling autorenew is the same as opting out of the subscription? That's convenient. Do they just give you steam keys to redeem?

Yeah it's the same as opting out of the subscription, and yeah they usually give you steam codes for any of the free PC game promos they have. They have other codes too for 360 and PS3, though the codes they give you for consoles are mostly just cheap DLC or themes.

Just did some googling, sounds like they bill your Paypal account $0 and then when you cancel they refund you the $0.

Okay registering and getting the free stuff worked fine. They charged and refunded my account, I haven't canceled the sub yet.

I just traded for Hamilton's Great Adventure on the last day of the sale, too. And my IGN Prime trial subscription ran out yesterday. :lol: Oh well.

I read that Valve doesn't do a big to-do after these contests, just an email to winners, which is fine by me. I like privacy (though I'd be doing cartwheels and Forever Alone type fist pumps in the air if I did win).

It's fun but I can only play a level or two at a time. I'm not quite finished with the game but the environments really could have used some more variance for one thing.

The contest states that winners will be notified by January 31. In the past, where they've awarded wishlists, I believe they've sent them via gift so you'd see them arrive in your Steam client.

Does anyone know if you can do this multiple times? I mean, if IGN prime is going to give away games every month, can I do this subscribe and cancel thing over and over, or just once?

Read my posts a couple pages back. You can cancel and subscribe as many times as you like, but that doesn't mean the free trial will always be available when you want to sign up for prime. Sometimes it won't be available.

Oh, and you can't resubscribe if your trial hasn't expired yet. You can't stack them, and I think you have to use a different payment method if you want to make a different account and have two trials simultaneously (not 100% sure on this).

I am about ready to give up on the game in the Lost Temples of Nubia. It has just went from fairly fun to extremely tedious and frustrating.

Taking away all your weapons? Really? WTF is all I can say. Trying to fight high damage, fairly mobile enemies like the helicopters and large scorpions without the Devastator is frustrating. Not the mention the hordes swarming you on the ground while you deal with the helicopters and Witch-Brides...
 
Finally beat Binding of Isaac for the first time after 8.5 total hours of trying to get to the end boss. It's crap that it doesn't tell you what each item does in-game when you click on it at the collectibles screen.

Just out of interest, which "end boss" are you referring to?

Mom is the just the first. Once you've killed her, you have to do it all over again but with another layer of dungeons.

after the 10th victory
or by getting lucky with items and doing the right thing with them.

I myself have only beaten the full game 4 or 5 times, long way to go. (Cain ftw)

Okay, now that I've actually looked at what the entire catalog looks like? I don't even want to win that prize. I'm just enough OCD that owning all those games would totally stress me out. My backlog is big enough as it is, know what I mean?

I'd be much happier with the 10- or 5-pack off my wish list.

Unless 2,000 free games also came with 2,000 free hours to try them all out! :lol:

Well, you don't HAVE to. The game is all repetition. You stop when you get tired of killing infinite flies. It's not that hard of a game

The new boss is a cake walk though. The second one less so.
 
Is anyone having trouble launching Steam games using the client? I've tried to launch Bastion for about 15 minutes now and had no such luck. I checked with my roommate and he's having the same issue.

I have had this problem before, usually its cause the game hasnt been updated. Try right clicking on the title and goto properties, then click on the update tab and change to always keep this game updated. If theres a update then it should start downloading. If its not that then i'm not sure might just be a server error on there side.

I've been getting errors connecting to Steam Cloud, but it hasn't prevented games from launching.

I can't seem to connect with my friends list but I can see the store and play games without problems...
