Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

That's why it's gonna happen. ;)

I'll also throw out the possibility of a Tropico 4 Game of the Year for $8.99
Wow I bought Witcher 2 for $16 during the summer sale and have yet to play it. Now it's $7.49?

You aren't alone, mate. But, I did register it at GOG and got some cool worthless stuff- well worth the 7.50 extra.

What's next?
Sleeping Dogs for $5?

My damage:

KOTOR 1 - $2.50
KOTOR 2 - $2.50
Thief Collection - $6.74
CK 2: Legacy of Rome - $1.24
Civ 5: Gods and Kings - $7.49

More than I wanted to spend, but I got some solid deals on games that were all on my wishlist.

Well, I picked it up on GMG for $13 and have been enjoying it. Rockstar could learn a couple things from it.

I hate you. I'd managed to not think about Lisa Loeb for about 12 years until I saw your post.
Man, I have been going back and forth on XCOM all day... what to do, what to do?
$10 or less!

Why is this thread even in the deals section? when is the last time the 1st post has been updated? I frequently check this thread cuz it's bumped, and it's got junk like "Torchlight 2 PREORDER". WTF? This is just a convo thread now, so it's just taking up space.

My haul from steam alone:

Witcher 1/2 - 10
Chivalry - 12
Borderlands GOTY -7.50
Bionic Commando Rearmed- 5 (first time its ever been on sale since its been released, pick it up if u havent already.)
Critter Crunch - 1.75
Legend of Grimrock - 3.75

Really good haul imo :). Nearly everything was 75% off and I believe the cheapest it will ever go (unless its a indie bundle...)

Chivalry was the only one I didnt get at 75%. :)

Im pretty much done till the winter sales. They really need to put the Ys series on sale!

Also this being my first Steam season sale...I have learned some valuable lessons. Earlier this year I bought Torchlight 2 and Orcs Must Die at full price. While they were great games, these indie titles were only released like 5 months ago...now they are 75%. I know next year to wait instead of buying day one on indie titles especially

I check this thread regularly. I both find AND POST deals I find on Steam games. Seriously, if you're into getting the best prices on Steam, this thread can't be beat.

True it becomes a bit of a "lounge" when the major sales are on, but I think that's mostly because ALMOST EVERYTHING is on sale. Would you prefer that we all make our own threads for the 1000+ titles currently on sale? :D

You do have a point that the OP isn't updated as often as it should be. But it is updated by the CAG community and there are only a handful of people who even bother. If you feel that it should be updated, perhaps you should take the initiative and do it yourself.

Yeah you may be right... your "prediction" and mine are both examples of the now classic "SR3 $13 Bundle low/high percent off" sales they ran. I believe the troll in question was the hard-hitting Jade Empire rare sale followed immediately by the even cheaper Jade Empire daily.

Valve rarely strikes twice with the same troll and it's almost impossible to prepare a defense.

Oh, yeah - I most definitely ain't forgot the SR3 Franchise Pack for $13 on Steam...
...a few days after I bought SR3 (base game) for $10 from Amazon DVG.

Haul

Steam:
-KOTOR I & II ($5)
-Skyrim Hearthfire ($3)
-The Witcher EE ($2.5)
-Fallout 3 GOTY ($5)
-Sanctum Collection ($5)
-Orcs Must Die! 2 Complete ($5)
-OMD1 GOTY (GamersGate; $4)

Amazon:
-Dead Island GOTY ($7)
-Kingdoms of Amalur Complete ($12)
& a bunch of over games under $5 in an attempt to obtain mass amount of $5 promo cred:
-Sonic CD ($1.24), Rome: Total War ($1), GTA: San Andreas ($3.75), MK Kollection for a friend ($3), Blacklight Tango Down ($1.24)
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack as a gift ($2.50), Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter ($3.75), Zeno Clash ($.99)

about $65+ total

I actually regret the Prototype pack somewhat. I probably won't touch that for a while.
Overall really content with Fallout 3 GOTY for $5.

EDIT:
I guess we could always EDIT our hauls if we listed them already, hehe. ;)

These posts are useless without final totals. I need somebody to post that they spent more money than me so I don't feel so bad about spending $90.

Oh and don't regret the Prototype pack. Those games are published by Activision. They may never be that cheap again.

Prototype Pack deal was a blast. :D
That's a really fun game.
Surely got by $7.49 worth on it.
I needed it namely for Prototype 2 + RADNET DLC, since I already owned Prototype 1 from Retail.
I need somebody to post that they spent more money than me so I don't feel so bad about spending $90.
I only spent $44.31 with Steam so far. But I dropped $22.50 at GMG and $42.20 at Amazon (for Steam games).

So I'm at $109.01 at the moment. Bring on the last Flash Deals!

I'm too self-conscious about spending to throw out my total haha but it was around $50 at least, I'll probably go back and add prices. I also bought Sleeping Dogs for $16 about 2 weeks ago too along with SS3: BFE.

& why is that? BO2? lol. glad it was the $7.50 price anyways

I think the "troll" of this sale could easily be Skyrim. I would not be surprised at all if next week's "Midweek Madness" is for Skyrim and it's DLC to celebrate the release of the Dragonborn expansion. My prediction is 66% off, making it $19.99 for the base game.

EDIT: Oh snap, I totally thought it was coming to PC on the 4th! I guess it's just for 360 for now.

Good guess, they will certainly do something for the new DLC's release.

Ms. Loeb spent every one of those days thinking about you.

Alright, I can tally my final total now. Drumroll, please....

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - $2.49

Final Total: $2.49

Yikes...

So...is that it? No more new deals right? I guess I'll get Coconut Queen then, was hoping for a Jet Set Radio 75% off. Only got Kotor 1+2 and Civ 4 this time around.

ha ha, nice. Well played.

Half tempted to get the complete SF IV AE for $13.75 despite having it on the 360 largely because rebuying the whole thing is way cheaper than getting all the costumes for the 360 version.
Sweet, had an active final day after getting nothing but Dredmor DLC the first five days. Grabbed a Castle Crashers 4 pack and traded two off for Witcher 2 (thanks Landon66). Now watch Castle Crashers be in the next Indie Royale.

Question: Is that promotion still active where you can add a Witcher 2 code to GOG?
yes, it's still active. http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup
Cheapest Steam sale for me ever. KOTOR II at $2.50 was literally all I spent. I wanted CS:GO, Orcs Must Die 2, and Torchlight II, but I can hold out at least until the Winter sale.
I can't, I'm an addict
You do have a point that the OP isn't updated as often as it should be. But it is updated by the CAG community and there are only a handful of people who even bother. If you feel that it should be updated, perhaps you should take the initiative and do it yourself.
Some of us don't know how.
Why is this thread even in the deals section? when is the last time the 1st post has been updated? I frequently check this thread cuz it's bumped, and it's got junk like "Torchlight 2 PREORDER". WTF? This is just a convo thread now, so it's just taking up space.
some may believe you are taking up space

Wow spent under 3 dollars during a Steam sale.

So. . . is Silverfall the new Coconut Queen? Should I buy it now so I'll be ahead of the meme wave?

I have a Paypal question for anyone who may know the answer. My Paypal account currently is linked only to my debit card and I can only add money to my Paypal balance by selling stuff on Ebay or using MoneyPak cards (whatever those are). If I linked my Paypal to my checking account, would this allow me to transfer money to a Paypal balance directly from that account? If I could do that it would save me a ton of grief dealing with my credit union and being able to make purchases at Gog or Gamersgate or GMG during sales (EDIT: or getting Indie Royales).
