Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
That's some really good timing for SpaceChem. I just saw that there was a piece of DLC and that I missed the nice price in the Summer sale, so I'll be picking that up.
I had to roll my eyes at Steam putting this up for sale today, but then I remembered that I too didn't own the dlc for it. Hopefully 50 cents well spent.
But alas, a desk like that wasn't built in a day
Guns of Icarus

Laxius Force (not on steam currently)

Zero Gear

Yes, that's the same Revelations 2012 you're thinking of.
Yuck, I guess I'm passing on this. I should be joyous, considering it's saving me money, but I feel sad, like another fairy lost its wings.

Question for the CS:GO players. Is anyone getting some weird glitch where some walls turn purple and you hear this annoying static squeal noise? It wasn't happening at all when I played earlier today, now I can't join a game without hearing it.

BeMine4's games don't interest me much at all, but the music is probably going to be worth the cost of admission. I may go in just for that.

I can only assume the walls being purple is that the texture isn't loading. I've had some fun times in Day of Defeat capturing a purple and black checkerboard artillery gun.

Good lord, the quality of the Bemine bundles has really gone down hill. Their first bundle (at least in my opinion) rivaled many humble bundles in terms of quality. But my goodness, they've really started to scrape the bottom of the barrel of late.

I admit, I'm kinda interested in both Guns of Icarus & Zero Gear. But each of those games should be offered separately as fillers in a stronger bundle. When you have them appearing in a bundle together, and they're basically the strongest games in the bundle, you know you're in trouble.

I'm seriously considering skipping this one.

Thanks for the head's up though plft.

Zero Gear is a fun game, but it has no community at all. When you log on to it, you are lucky to see even 1 server with people. The developers abandoned the game and didn't want to fix any of the bugs it has, the developers went and started work on iOS games instead and they have tried to remove themselves from the Zero Gear mess by removing it from their website and even took the Zero Gear site down as well.
BeMine4's games don't interest me much at all, but the music is probably going to be worth the cost of admission. I may go in just for that.
I'm listening to what came with Be Mine 3 as I'm finishing my collection data entry with everything I bought from the Summer Sale, and some of it is cringeworthily awful. Overall, I've liked the stuff I've heard with the Gala bundles much more.
Zero interest in any of those games. Especially given most are predominantly multi-player and probably have non existent communities. Sorry but the last IG/1C bundle was vastly superior.
I'd probably agree if the IG bundle was $1, but it wasn't. All of the good games in it (like King's Bounty and Star Wolves) made you beat the average, which was what... $6+? I'm sure the happy hour deal was a good value, but one set of keys is all the average gamer needs.

For $4 (like the last Be Mine minimum was), I wouldn't be too enthused. For $1? A lot better than any other bundles lately.

Be Mine 3's music was actually really good I think. Celldweller and Psyborg Corp. were a little odd, admittedly, but the Infinity Shred collection was really cool dreamy ambient sounding techno (good background music), and Drivepilot is pretty damn good. Not everybody is into the electronic side of music though; that's pretty much all Groupees seems to give out in the Be Mine bundles that I've seen.

(Ironically, since it was mentioned, the last Gala bundle came with almost all Benjamin Briggs stuff. Groupees just gave out Benjamin Briggs stuff in their last Build a Bundle.)
Yuck, I guess I'm passing on this. I should be joyous, considering it's saving me money, but I feel sad, like another fairy lost its wings.
I laughed.

Also, Lord of the Rings: War in the North is mega fun. Hubby and I played a couple more hours this evening. Combat is pretty varied, the loot system is sweet, saving is frequent, warping back to town and back to where you were (at certain spots) is good and shows up often enough.

Graphics and story are pretty good too. Hoping maybe we'll meet or see the principal hobbits and Gandalf somewhere in the story, but I'm not holding my breath. ;)

Oh, I just voiced my confusion about why they had such a high minimum price, mentioned what the minimum price of other bundles was, and also asked why their minimum was so high for games that really don't look very good (maybe that was a little harsh). No need to troll them or anything, I actually am looking forward to a serious response.

I also asked why it costs $25 for the games on a flash card, and $8 + $14 = $22 to buy the games and the flash card separately. I still don't understand that one.
As of now they've sold 16 bundles with 38 days to go. I don't even have words for that.
So apparently intkeys.com bought 16 bundles. How much more do you guys think they'll buy? I'm assuming that's how they're paying IFK back for that blog article.

;)

Oh, please do share when you receive the response. I'm sure it will be quite serious.

Since their preferred contact method in the past has always been "chat," I actually went in there a few weeks ago. I had previously joined their Steam group to get the first word on upcoming IFK bundles. They *constantly* spammed the group with announcements and event notifications like, "i'm bored, come chatz?" and "join chat now if ur cool".

When I went in, they were all of my worst concerns realized. I won't bore everyone with the details, but they're just a bunch of IRC kiddiez. That GamerX guy is no better, he just happens to be the one that has some connections with key resellers and a couple of devs that didn't know any better.

I hate to say it, but I'm glad to see IFK dying. I really like what indie bundles are doing for PC gaming, but the people behind IFK will only damage the reputation of the decent, honest bundle organizers. The sooner they are out of the market, the better.

Have I mentioned that I don't like them? ;)

I was approached my a few men on my way home; I feared the worst. They made me buy the Indie Face Kick Bundle. I would get rid of it and put it on steamgifts, but the authorities say I can't and that I wouldn't have it if I didn't want it "because the female body rejects 'legitimate bundles.'"

I cannot explain how I managed just now to not choke on my drink. Thank you.

I have never bought one of their bundles. Right from the start, they presented themselves as the kind of people I don't miss from my high school days. You know the ones. Never so much as considered paying them a cent, not that that's possible anyway with their pricing structure.

I have been gone for a few pages because of the move but I a finally caught back up.... not as though much has happened haha

I just wanted to post this link for Castle Story again as a quick reminder to those who have not seen this Kickstarter. It is ending in a few days and it looks AMAZING. I do not recall who but someone posted this a while back when it began and I instantly wanted to give them my money hahah
Anyone know what type of space combat sim 4x game this leans towards. I've mostly played the X3 series so I'm wondering if it's somewhat similar to that.
I doubt it comes close. It's a port of an iOS game.

Comment of the year, right here.

Not sure if posted yet. The Basement Collection will be released August 31, and there may be a special fan discount (regular price is $4).

Thanks for the heads up. Interested in it for Gray Matter... Not sure about $4 though, since that's the only one I'm really interested in. I followed his Tumblr just in case.

I already own several of those, but seems like a good deal to pick up some I'm missing nonetheless. Gray Matter is one I'm interested in, and Gish, and possibly others.

One can hope. The description makes it sound semiopen world with actual combat and empire building instead of a 'touch screen to win' game.

I'll give the Indie Face Kick guys some credit for having what is probably a valid "Bundles Sold" counter. That said, I anticipate them having "issues" with the counter not working correctly and "fixing" it or not mentioning anything at all and just gaming the hell out of it.

Also the game descriptions are so terribly written I think they qualify as being campy:
"you are a tomb raider of sorts or treasure hunter if you will."
"They start living in small villages or big towns & make their unions or their clans."
"A very unique game fun to play, and a great story."
Is this what getting "Punked" feels like?

Oh wait, no, we're being "Face-kicked"... Yeah, that sounds about right.
I gotta say, I do wish they pushed out better bundles I mean who doesn't want cheap games. Sadly this is like the most expensive bundle out there and it's the worst by far, their first bundle was their best and after that they've been utter garbage. Their web design is terrible, I've seen better geocity pages. They should just give up and sell Russian cdkeys like their ex advertisers.
Anyone know what type of space combat sim 4x game this leans towards. I've mostly played the X3 series so I'm wondering if it's somewhat similar to that.
Just so you guys have an answer. This game is like Privateer (most closely) or Freelancer.

GoF RARELY goes on sale on iOS. It's been $10 and marked down to about $5. If you bought it originally, you paid $10 bucks for the expansion and then they forced you to re-pay/re-buy the HD version if you wanted that update. They force changed the software to limit the HD-ness as well on the iPad. That being said, the game is beautiful and I've spent long hours on my iPad because of it.

How it'll port to PC is anyone's guess.
I thought Time Fcuk was great. I played it before I knew Edmund as an indie game personality. If the fan discount is good I'll pick it up.
Though Mr. McMillen's insistence upon drawing naked cartoon bodies disturbs me horribly, I admit that I, too, played Time Fcuk and was amused.

Here are additional details of the upcoming "Basement Collection" from his official blog:
-15 minutes of never before scene stock video interviews from Indie Game: The Movie
-Over 40 minutes audio of development commentary/QA sessions
-Over 30 pages of development documents and character sketches.
-6 playable tech demos/prototypes
-tons of behind the scenes photos, comics, easter eggs and extras
The collection also comes with a free full digital sound track, featuring full sound tracks from all but one game featured in the collection, the soundtrack also features over 10 amazing fan made tracks!
The English on display makes me worrisome, but the promised content makes $4 sound reasonable. If I hadn't been intrigued by Time Fcuk, I wouldn't pay much attention to this collection. Admittedly, I am curious to see how improved some of these games are in comparison to their currently-available-for-free iterations.

I may just wait for CAG's to give the final say on this collection.

EDIT:
It seems the Daily Deal is Section 8: Prejudice for $3.74. (A Four-Pack is available for $11.24.)

Certainly, we can discuss this.

If you're gonna get it (speaking generally), go for the 4-pack which is not only cheaper per slot ($2.81), but each copy also includes all of the DLC for the game.

Edge, Osmos, Anomaly Warzone Earth, and World of Goo were added to the Humble Android Bundle 3. If you already bought it and someone don't already have them from bundles, they should show up in your Steam library soon. You may need to restart.

If you haven't purchased the bundle yet you'll need to beat the average to get them.
