Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Yeah, this dude is definitely shady.

I doubt companies sell in bulk to individuals and bulk orders would need to be in the 100s or more I would think.

I mean, I think if companies could sell this for $36 bucks and make a profit they would so I would proceed with a lot of caution if I were to proceed at all.

When it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I have no idea if the deal is legit, but I'd rather wait for a sale than throw away money on a key that could be banned or purged later.

Just my opinion though.
I know I shouldn't and I won't but man I really want this game : /

Being a recent college grad with no job is horrible.
Is Dark Fall first person? Are there weapons or monsters?
It's an older school style first person adventure game. Think Myst and its' ilk, where you're more interacting with images than the traditional setup of most first person games.
So is anyone doing the gift BTA bundles this time for happy hour, if so pm me
Mine is already filled up, but I'm almost 100% sure there will be two other people hosting 20 packs so there should be slots available soon.
Wow, so two indie bundles today and I really need to think about buying both of them.

I mean I want Analogue, but the rest of the games are meh. I wonder if Analogue won't be $2.50 in the winter sale.

I have no clue about Indie Gala games but they look kinda meh except for Sacred but I have enough to play.

I'm in the same boat. I want Analogue, but I already own one of the three games in the bundle, Shattered Horizon. I'll probably just wait for the winter sale, or try to barter off some other keys for it.
As much as I've looked at Analogue and read glowing reviews of it, it just doesn't seem like something I would ever want to play, so if either of you guys wants a few bucks Paypal for the Shattered Horizon and Waves Steam keys from the IR bundle, PM me.

Wait, people are already getting those organized? Where would one find a group buy for that... I don't see anything on the trading thread.

It is a three hour game... It isn't something that will take you away from playing other games all that much.

Thank you.

Picked it up for $4.60 or so. Low enough to not feel too bad about the purchase; it is a pretty nice bundle.

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't expect it to drop a buck.

I ended up buying Virtua Tennis 4 yesterday and played it for a couple of hours. I enjoyed the World Tour much more than in 2009, even though it has a weird board game presentation. I found the games somewhat more challenging as well (playing in Experienced). However, the original WT from the older games is still much better. I miss the serve bowling mini game...

FYI, it took a few tries for it to work, I was getting a "virtua tennis 4 has stopped working" upon launch, and verifying the files was not working. All of a sudden, it started working.

Homefront $4.99 75% off
Homefront DLC $0.24-$1.24 each 75% off
If you are on the fence about Homefront, here is the review I wrote for it on Steam:

Pretty lame. Horrible ending.

I can't decide if I want Homefront or not. I had it briefly for PS3, but sold it at a profit since I didn't have time to play it at the time (only played about 20 minutes). Is it worth $5?

Kinda tempted by Homefront. I think I've read before that the MP is dead and pretty much has been dead from the start, but is the single player portion worth $5 at least?

And if the multiplayer ISN'T dead like I think, are the map packs worth it?

I can't recall ever hearing anybody say anything good about homefront.

I'm gonna pass.

I've heard that the multiplayer was pretty solid.
I just noticed GoG has Myst 5: End of Ages for $3.99 (60% off) today.
Good catch. Considering all the extras GoG gives like soundtrack, I'll definitely consider it. I have 1-3 and Uru on disc but haven't played the ones beyond 3.

I found Homefront to actually be a pretty good game. The story was not the typical CoD style story. It was gritty, dirty, and mature. Then again, I also still enjoy the original Red Dawn movie from the 80's which was written by the same person. Honestly, for 5 bucks there are alot worse things you could buy out there. I would give it a go especially with the remake of Red Dawn coming out soon.

Penny Arcade Episode 3 (40% off) and Cthulu pack (50% off) are going to be on sale until September 5.

Definitely going to pick up episode 3. Been wanting that for a while.

You all need to be playing Super Amazing Wagon Adventure from the latest Indie Royale bundle.

It's daft, crazy, funny 5-minute fun. With unlockables*!

* - I'll play anything with stupid unlockables.

i had beat homefront when it came out on xbox

it should be worth $5 for the fact that its not your typical military first person shooter story.

like others have said its a very grity style game, i loved the fact that it actually had an original (atleast more original than others) story.

the multiplayer was actually really fun (more battlefield-ish and less call of duty) but as of writing this there is only 1 full 32 person server and 4 other servers about 10 people.

Oh yeah, and I liked Homefront too!

Sure, it's not the bestest shooter ever, but it is fun enough and you get about 6 hours of gameplay in single player for your $5.

Well, you will now. ;) In my opinion, Homefront has a great story and single player, and is definitely worth $5. It also has a bit of replayability if you care about trophies (or in this case steam achievements,) as you have to beat each level without dying.

I played and beat it on PS3, so can't comment much about the PC multiplayer, but ended up really enjoying the single player. With a sequel most likely coming, I would definitely grab the first, as the story will probably get better.

Not really important or relevant, but I was curious and asked Zeboyd on twitter why the games were on sale.

He said for PAX.

So there.

Homefront is totally worth 5 dollars. I bought it new for 40ish when it came out (direct2drive cred, ya'll) and didn't regret it.

The campaign is just the right length. Keeps you entertained, and it's reasonably varied. The multiplayer is battlefield + counterstrike.

Super Crate Box is now on Steam and is free.

Vlambeer's SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can.
Genre: Free to Play, Action, Indie, Platformer

edit: I'm currently getting a "no subscription" error when trying to install. Others are reporting the same issue right now.

Your experience was completely different from mine. I hated that (it seemed like) 50% of the campaign was vehicle battles, it never really felt like they did anything with the reasonably interesting -- if implausible -- premise and the companion AI was ridiculously poor. And obnoxious. "Throw the grenade! Throw a grenade here! We need a grenade! Throw a grenade! Grenade here! Throw a grenade!" It was like hanging out with G.I. Rainman.

I can't speak for the MP though. But by the time I finished the SP portion, I uninstalled it and didn't look back.
