Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Where are you guys finding the product key to enter into Steam?

Check your order history. It's there. You don't need to download their client :D

^ Yeah, go to your Purchase History and then click on the Order Number link: takes you to a page for your order with the key. For my Men of War: Vietnam order there's a nifty blank space.

Excellent - thanks to you both.

I think GameFly calls it your "purchase history". You can see all your previous orders there, along with their serial keys (Steam keys or otherwise).

EDIT: Epically ninja'd. I really should refresh pages.

Well found out after all my controller was causing me some issues with Sleeping Dogs combat. Now all is well with sleeping dogs, and well that game is just fucking sexy.

I really love that game.

So I noticed Borderlands 2 has a season pass & on looking at steamprices for it it appears it's $4.64 for Borderlands 2 Season Pass. from the Russian store.

This thread seems to imply that trading BL2 with russia is disabled?

Can anyone confirm or add some insight here?

Also, even if it's disabled in russia the season pass is $12.60ish in most Euro stores.

Is anyone else having problems with GameSpot? I made an account, yet no matter how many times I log in, it won't really log in. I've even tried multiple browsers.

I even enabled cookies for gamespot.com, still no dice

The first time I tried, it wouldn't send me the activation email at all. I use Gmail, I never have these problems, and it didn't show up in my spam box either.

Then I tried it with another email addy (also Gmail), and got it fine. Still can't log in though. I've cleared my cookies, tried different browsers, everything.

Really annoying.

wow you must be a real cheap ass  buy the groupees bundle for a dollar, activate all games. buy the indiegala bundle in a group buy for a little more than a dollar, that should put you over the 100 dollar value necessary, all for less than 3 dollars.

You have to have $100 of games. If you do and it's not recognizing it go to Account->Sync Account.

Yeah it's under $100 since I just activated steam less than a week ago. I'll learn the in's and out's of this thing eventually. I'm at about $54.xx right now.

Good tip. Thanks.
I just wasn't a PC gamer at all until recently.

Revelations 2012 is a fun coop game.

If you have ever had the joy of watching a mate dance around while hundreds of Mayans kill him you wouldn't have made that comment.

Plus, Bad Rats is extremely offended that you're giving away it's crown so flippantly.

I grabbed it in a trade as a sweet but haven't tried it yet, was worried about it being short but couldn't find much on it so it looks good, but at $2.50 it was worth a shot for the backlog either way

Has anyone been able to activate the season pass yet? An Australian buddy of mine grabbed a copy for me, and when I try activating it it says "This item requires you own the base game "Borderlands 2" before it can be added to your library." which I've already got Borderlands 2 preordered on Steam. Not sure if it's a region issue, or if it's just saying that because I have a Borderlands 2 preorder which isn't the "Real" thing yet.

I've cleaned out 5 games from the backlog since the Summer Sale: Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2, Transformers War for Cybertron and Portal 2.

Trying to decide what to jump into next. Dead Island, Dead Space or Assassin's Creed.
anyone play that new indie game Home? looks cool and its only $2.54
It's an interesting little game. It takes about an hour for a playthrough, but there seems to be a lot of replayability with all the choices you can make. The ending is always left open for you to interpret though.

It's far from your traditional point and click adventure game. The controls are quite simple, just the arrow keys and space bar, no mouse required, so it plays quite easily on a laptop. The couple puzzles present are also simple and you won't be banging your head on the desk like some adventure games. Really, the gameplay is driven at delivering the narrative, so the simplicity works well.

The premise is you wake up in a strange room alone, find a dead body in the next room, then make your way back home uncovering clues along the way as to what may have happened. Then, in the end, you get a bit if narrative recapping some of your choices and your left to decide what you think happened. The dev even includes a web address where people can post their interpretations.

I picked up a couple copies and I'm not regretting it. I'm intrigued to go into it a couple more times with different decisions and since how things turn out.

Yeah when people post keys publicly and you're the lucky one to get it anyone else that tries to use it has the ability to have that email sent to you.

huh, I haven't used a key since Kaptain Brawe the other day and the email was new this morning. Oh well, I won't worry about it - Thanks :D

Is anyone else having issues logging into IGN Prime?

Think I'll take this as a sign to stop putting off getting a password manager. Any recommendations? LastPass seems popular.

It wouldn't be the Brawe key. It's probably a key you input a long time ago but that someone else just tried to use recently.

In my case, it was probably one of the Lucid keys made available in large text files a while back.

I use password hasher, doesn't keep a log file but has quite a few options. However I don't know how viable it is for people who browse on their phones. Works well for my purposes though.

Ugh.. it seems like borderlands 2 is doing nothing but trolling me.

Missed the loot chest preorder. And as someone was picking up the european season pass for me the price changed from cart to checkout. :(
