Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Ether Vapor Remaster is YET ANOTHER SHUMP, as if we need any more. [/QUOTE]
I think that we do need more, but we just need more good shmups, and less mediocre shmups on the PC in general. Most of the time I end up just going back to DoDonPachi, because not much can match it for me (outside of some other Cave games (Speaking of which, I wish they would make games for PC))

[quote name='EliotAndrews']Dude, Sleeping Dogs is already $25? This is fantastic, but I'm still going to wait for a cheaper price.[/QUOTE]

5 weeks to Black Friday. Be strong, CAG!

Bought Darksiders II today.

Dear god Green Man Gaming has been on fire these past two months. Sleeping Dogs, Darksiders II, Borderlands 2, Dishonored, and XCOM all for $45 or less.

[quote name='Mooby']As much as I like the updates I don't feel like rebuying the game -- I'll wait for the inevitable 75% off drop.[/QUOTE]
By the end of Winter, they'll be giving them away free to people who already own Zombie Driver anyway. :bouncy:

[quote name='Blade']Ah, that must be to prevent people from signing up with multiple accounts...like we all did for the 400 MSP from Dance Central 3...[/QUOTE]
Damn, how did I miss this?? My wife loves the Dance Central games, I'm surprised she hasn't mentioned a third one.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal?

Sega Genesis Collection (45 game bundle, DRM-free) @DotEmu for $9.99

I see that Steam sells a similar bundle for $29.96, but without the five Sonic games - has it ever been lower than $10 during sales?

Is the DotEmu pack (with the Sonic games) worth it?

Amazon has had a similar deal for $12.49 in the past.

I personally would pay the extra to have it on Amazon. They are DRM Free on Amazon too.

Another Dishonored/XCOM inversion. Dishonored really hits a fever pitch at the last level or so. Daud and the final boss just had more compelling drama than anything else in the game. XCOM's ending? Well, you may as well just close the game when you take that final mission. It's just phoned in and the storytelling from there on out adds nothing to the game, but at least it gives some resolution.

I like Dishonored more now that I beat it but I still do not think it is great. Worth it cheap though.

I wouldn't call CrimzonClover, Flying Red Barrel, Jamestown, or Exceed 3rd mediocre, much less them toohoo games. You could also make an argument for the Suguri and Sora series, as funky as they are, and, hell, EVR definitely isn't BAD. I'll probably still buy THAT during a sale. Hell, I'd trade most Cave games for CrimzonClover.

I'm just saying, if what people are saying is "We want more shumps," when they really mean "Only Cave need apply," then we are speaking from different language.

I have trouble coming out in favor of paying for roms like this. But if you're waffling, Sega likes sales, almost as much as Squeenix. You'll see these nostalgia collections drop again, if not on DotEmu, then on Amazon or Steam. That said, of that bundle, I could only ever see myself playing maybe three or four of those games tops. It's really up to how much you see yourself playing these Genesis games they keep trying to sell and resale.

Political Machine 2012 is pretty fun, although I'm fairly certain I encountered a game-breaking glitch. It wouldn't allow me to win any endorsements despite having more than enough points to get one. I blame my ass getting handed to me by Romney on that and that alone. >:[

If anyone missed the sale on The Political Machine 2012, I still have two copies for 2.50 each.

Looks like I'm skipping this bundle unless the bonus games next week are amazing. I've tried Paradox games and they aren't for me.

Also this is yet another bundle with Omegalodon, after Build a Bundle 3 and Greenlight 2.

It's nice to see that they're creating cohesive bundles. Most bundles combine games from a wide range of genres, leaving purchasers weighing the price for the one or two titles they actually want. For this one, it's either going to look absolutely amazing or instantly passable. Of course, then you have the issue of fans of these kinds of games already having half the bundle, but that's an issue inherent to bundling in general.

I'll probably be sitting this one out. Have the ones I want and don't see myself ever playing the others in the face of my current backlog.

Looks like this is the last blind dollar they'll be getting from me if they're changing the policy, besides I haven't been impressed at all with the past few bundles.

Majesty 2 is quite fun and I played it to death for a few weeks, but then I got to a pair of missions that were OMGHARD and I lost the will to carry on. I tried YouTubing tactics, hints, different approaches, it was just staving off the inevitable. Fun game though, before getting stuck I really enjoyed it.

P.s. Fans of Fake Sean Connery accents will love it.

Rather than simply posting the codes here, which may or may not go to a loyal CAG, I've created CAG-Only Steamgift giveaways for my extra IndieGala games. Enjoy:

Thanks! Saves me from picking up the IndieGala bundle as this was the only game I was interested in. :D [quote name='walkonshadows']Another Majesty 2 code:

Today's deal is Alpha Protocol at 75% off ($4.99)

Loyalty carries a price and no one knows this more than agent Michael Thorton. A talented young agent cast out by his government, Thorton is the only one with the information needed to stop an impending international catastrophe. To do so means he must cut himself off from the very people he is sworn to protect.
Genre: Action, RPG

I wonder if we'll ever see this at $2 again.

I ran into a few bugs with Alpha Protocol and the stealth is a bit broken (enemies are not very smart and bodies disappear after being taken down), but I think there's quite a lot of fun to be found in it. It was a steal for 2 dollar, and well worth 5 IMO.

A lot of things in that game can be really frustrating if you spec the wrong way, but if you get the pistol chain-shot move leveled up to full, then pour the rest into stealth/CQC, the game is totally a breeze.

I upgraded stealth and my assault rifle early on so when I had to engage into fights they weren't much of a hassle.
