Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Thanks for posting guys. BTW, is there a way to copy & past these codes into the code entry fields? I tried it, but it didn't work, so I've had to resort to writing the codes down to type them into the fields manually. While that works, it's kinda a pain in the ass.

I have a vague memory of somebody explaining how it could be done a few weeks ago, but since I didn't own the game then, I didn't pay all that close attention to it.
Okay, so it's a little off topic, but this is a community that I'm a part of, and I'm the proud dad.

My daughter's game won a southern California IEEE competition earlier this year. Now they've got a kickstarter going to help them finish it up. Yeah, it's an android game, but still. They did an awesome job on the video telling about it. Yup, I'm a proud dad :)

Hey congratulations. I don't own an android device, so I wont be kicking in to the kicksatrter, but that's pretty cool.
Just Cause 2 $3.75 is the daily deal.
The first one is also on sale for $2.49.

I recommend people head to the Steam trading thread where they're going for a couple of bucks each.

JC2 DLC is on sale as well for $0.24 - $0.49.

I just copy them and paste into the shift code field, nothing special.

For anyone with this problem, check to make sure you're just copying+pasting the code only. Usually a space character finds it's way into the copying and screws up the whole process. Eliminate that space character, re-copy the code, and you're golden. ;)

Thanks again Severose.

Now I just gotta wait for a new code to try it out. They seem to be dropping them 2 or 3 times a day over weekends, so I might get another shoot again tonight.

There will be 2 more in about 45m, and that's supposedly all for this weekend.

Is $2.50 the cheapest Rock of Ages has been? I just want to get it as cheap as possible since I'm not sure the gameplay warrants buying it (not going to be playing MP) but I absolutely love the art of it.

Im on the fence about it too.....BUT....I know as soon as I buy it, it will appear in a bundle so Im holding off....not going to be playing it anytime soon anyway

Keep in mind that ROA has "bundle" written all over it. I'd wait.

That's kind of what I'm suspicious of, I'll probably just wait then. Thanks for the input!

Haven't got around to playing Just Cause 2 from the Amazon bundle yet, but the pricing on the DLC has me wondering if I should pick some up while it's on sale. Does anyone have any thoughts on any of it?

I really like the hovercraft. The only downside on the vehicles is that you have to buy them in game and they only last until they go ka-blooie. So you can't use your DLC items with impunity unless you're using some sort of cash cheats.

No there is not. kidrocklive either misspoke/typed or he was simply mistaken.

Man, I haven't even started a game yet and I've already got 9 keys. 9 keys in less than 24 hours, mind you. I'm gonna have a couple of hundred of them by the time I actually start a game.

Thanks Severose

You're welcome. ;)

Sorry I did. I was referring go the "buy all dlc" option on the games main page.
Vice City was extremely tempting on the $2.50 deal yesterday but I passed 'cause I figured I'd wait for the GTA Franchise Pack for $12. Good move?

no brainer if you want the whole series.

GTA Complete is actually much cheaper in the UK store. So if you wait until it's 75% off, you can get a UK CAG to help you get it for something like $8. That's what I did during the 2011 Holiday sale.

So yeah, assuming that you wanted more than just Vice City, wise move on passing.
On second thought, maybe it wasn't such a smart idea. Both GTA Vice City & GTA Complete collection have been removed from the Steam store. One of the theories over on SPUF is that it was removed because of a licensing issue with one of the songs in the soundtrack. That sounds fairly plausible to me. Apparently it's been removed from every other Digital store as well.

I was going to say it still shows up to me but when I click add cart it says sorry. I do see the pricing and complete set in steam but not if I try the url in my browser.

Any thoughts on RCR? I've read a few decent reviews and it looks as though it could be quick fun.

If there is one it's expected to be the Midweek Madness because of the dates. Also, Killing Floor and Left 4 Dead series are both currently on sale.
Halloween is Wednesday, so I'm thinking midweek sale, maybe...?
I hope so. Does it usually start right on Halloween? Seems to be cutting it a little close.

It started on the 27th last year - the Thursday before Halloween.

It's definitely happening. I did a google search for steam halloween a few days ago and I saw cached data in google's description that specifically talked about halloween 2012 sale. It's gone now but I expect we will see something in a day or two.

Looks like they timed the weekend deal last year. Midweek deal makes the most sense here if they will have any.

BTW, just saw, IndieGala Happy Hour is now on. I'm looking to get in on this if someone is buying a bunch of them

EDIT: Apparently it went into Happy Hour yesterday, didn't see any mention of it, oh well
Man we are all acting like a bunch of freaking addicts. Jonesing for the next sale lol
I can quit any time I want man, I just don't want to, alright? Why would I quit if I didn't want to? What's it to you, huh? It's my life! Get off my back. I'm not hurting anyone but myself. I don't need you, anyway. I'm happy all alone by myself.

With my steam games.
