Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
I have limited monies this sale. I'm buying KOTOR2 and one of these today: Critter Crunch, Dead Hungry Diner, or Offspring Fling.

What say you CAG?
I got Dead Hungry Diner. I will try to play it today and get back with my thoughts.
Here are a few more Autumn Seal codes. I already used one of the Grimrock codes but can't remember which one.

Grabbed this one, thanks.
BEST PRACTICE FOR STEAM SALES.
Thank you, sir. I'm very tempted to pick up X-Com, but there's always that chance it'll be a Flash Sale.

A new IndieFort bundle is coming to GamersGate soon, looks like it'll come with Steam keys according to this dev:
Hello, I am one of the developers behind War of the Human Tanks.

Since we are involved with the IndieFort Countdown bundle, I would like to clarify a few things that are misunderstood on the posts earlier in this thread. But first let me thank emcee80 for mentioning our bundle here. I'll start with an edited version of his post, I added hyperlinks to every game and a mention of their STEAM/Greenlight status.

IndieFort Countdown Bundle:

Week 1:
Aeon Command (Greenlight)
Genetrive 2
Space Pirates and Zombies (STEAM)
Waveform (STEAM)

Week 2:
Caster (STEAM)
Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece (STEAM)
Strategic War in Europe (Greenlight)
Zombies (Greenlight)

Week 3:
Alien Hallway (STEAM)
Bridge It
Eryi's Action (Greenlight)
Terrorhedron

Week 4:
Achron (STEAM)
Alien Shooter 2 Conscription (STEAM)
Orczz (Greenlight)
Syder Arcade (Greenlight)

Week 5
War of the Human Tanks (Greenlight)
Will Fight for Food (Greenlight)
Zafehouse: Diaries (Greenlight)
Zombie Shooter 2 (STEAM)

Pricing: $4/week. For each bundle you buy, the next bundle you can get for $1 off the price.

Launches: Black Friday 2012

Each week has 4 games for a total of 20 games at the end of five weeks. We also have bonuses that will unlock with sale number goals that include 7 more games, 6 OSTs and an add-on.

This bundle is hosted by GamersGate, so you will get a key for them all there.

Also all games on this bundle that have Steam versions already present will give Steam keys to add them to your Steam account. Marked those with (STEAM) above.

And the rest are all on Greenlight (except 3) and you will get a Steam key for those too, when they are greenlit with your votes. So don't forget to vote YES for them. Marked those with (Greenlight) above.
I've had too many instances the last few months of saying "Wow, $20 is a great price for that recently released $50 game!" and adding it to the backlog. This time, I'm putting the CA back in CAG.

Call of Juarez and KOTR 2 for less than $5 together. There, I'm done for the day.

I think the only time a daily was less on a flash sale was with saints row the third. Every other time they repeated. It was the same price.

Ooh, Week 4 will be a perfect chance to grab Achron on the cheap! Thanks!
Dungeons of Dredmor is absolutely worth it if you're into roguelikes. 180+ hours myself.
I'd disagree, and say that if you are really into old roguelikes, you'll find Dredmor lacking. I'd much rather play Angband and its variants.

This is more for those that liked the sound of roguelikes, but found them unapproachable.

I believe the flash sale for the FEAR pack was also less than the daily deal. It was $9.99 for the flash sale, and went up in price for the daily IIRC. Then there's always the possibility that some games will show up as flash deals but not dailies, like Ys Origin.
i am just hoping for the ys games to go 75% off, they didnt get much of a sale on the summer sale(they were $5 for the oath, and $8 for ys origins, i am hoping for $3.75 and 5

so far, all i bought was kotor 2(and also picked up gods and kings for civ v on amazon for $7.50)
http://www.amazon.com/Sid-Meiers-Ci...qid=1353525036&sr=8-7&keywords=gods+and+kings

ignore all of the 'macintosh only" warnings, it gives you a steam code, which gives both pc and mac versions when you redeem it on steam
I know we're all used to buying games for 75% off.. but you can't really say 60% and 66% off isn't much of a sale.. especially for XSEED games.

This sale doesn't let me vote on stuff to watch people rage that their game didn't get picked and some other game did, just to watch them all go on flash sales anyway.

Worst Steam sale ever.

True enough. It's definitely more on the streamlined/lighthearted side.

Bought a dozen games already and the first day isn't even half way over.

A lot of games are on the buy list for the end depending on how much I spent by then. lol

I received Hotline Miami as my SS gift and holy friggan hell this game is a ton of fun. I just blew through the first two chapters and I want to keep playing but I have to go to dinner with the in laws.
I got:
Toki Tori - $0.49
Legend of Grimrock - $3.75 (after a 50% off coupon)

That's all for today =)
I freaking loved Toki Tori. If you join their Steam group it unlocks a few additional puzzle levels as well.
Not so sure about The Void. Can anyone recommend it?
The game is very very hard, you have to think a lot, you can lose the game by just seeing the menu, and it's wierd too. But I loved it, couldn't win it through, but I enjoyed every bit of it. The visuals are beautiful, the dialogs are terrific and overall, it's a work of art just to see all the characters, places and how well it's all written.
As KaOTiK already said, it has been $5 in the past.

A good resource for checking the price history of games on steam is this site: http://www.steamprices.com/us
THanks I always lose track of stuff like that. Also does anyone have any thoughts on the game?

That's an utterly bonkers price for Toki Tori, and I highly recommend it to any puzzle-lovers who do not have it yet.

I'm down for KOTOR 2 for sure, can't wait to try some of the extended/reimplemented content mods. Glad Steam got this one back.

I'm tempted on KOTOR 2, but what I really want is to pick up as many Lucas Arts Games as possible in case Disney decides to yank them from the store. So I think I'm gonna wait and see if there is a complete Star Wars pack that shows up either later on in this sale, or in the coming Holiday sale. At the moment, the only Lucas Arts published game that I own is KOTOR 1.

Incidentally, I know that they've done the complete star wars packs in the past. But can anybody recall if they've ever done a complete publisher pack for Lucas Arts before?
I got Dead Hungry Diner. I will try to play it today and get back with my thoughts.
It will be on sale for a few days, so no rush. Looking forward to it.

Nope, LucasArts has only down Star Wars pack and their adventure pack, never a complete pack with all their games.
...Incidentally, I know that they've done the complete star wars packs in the past. But can anybody recall if they've ever done a complete publisher pack for Lucas Arts before?
There was a LucasArts "Premier Pack" which mixed some SW games with things like Armed and Dangerous and the classic adventure bundle, but no complete pack.
Witcher 2 enhanced edition for $11.99 is amazing. Hopefully they put metro 2033 on sale, along with crysis 1
Really hoping for Witcher 2 to be 75% off in a daily or flash.

That, along with KOTOR 2, would make this sale for me.

I have Alan Wake (both) vouchers in my inventory, if anyone wants them drop me a PM with your steam id.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long for the witcher 2 to go on sale (more than it already is)

would hate to buy it now and it end up being a daily deal tomorrow

Alright, thanks guys. Now I at least know not to hold out for a complete pack. It should be safe to buy any non-Star wars games as long as the price is right.

Random but I ended up getting Critter Crunch and Nimbus, two tiny games on my Wishlist. Grand total: $4.23.
I'm not going to be able to watch the sale to much (i expect to miss flash sales), so can anyone suggest buy points for these games:

FTL
Recettear
Awesomenauts
(maybe) Walking Dead
Awesomenauts is half off. If you will play it now buy (it hasnt been lower)
Yeah thanks. I just spotted that myself. According to steam prices, it's never been cheaper than it's current price. Which means that I might as well pick it up now. Or on the last day of the sale (just in case).

I also noticed that KOTOR 2 isn't included in the bundle. So I'd better pick that up right now.
Personally, I got all the Star Wars games I needed from the Jedi Knight pack (was $5 last year), and KOTOR 1 & 2 for 75% off.
Does the mod include controller support? this game was on consoles and wondering if on pc it is updated. Many of these older games I pass on because of no dev support since their so old.
no not that i can tell, it plays fine just with mouse and keyboard.

Picking up the 2nd expansion to Dungeons of Dredmor since that game is all kinds of fucking awesome. Highly recommended to anyone.

Waiting on Walking Dead and XCOM, mainly because they would be thrown in the backlog and I wouldn't get to them until they're much cheaper (see: any other Telltale game I purchased ever).

Let the Steam slowdown begin!
