Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

Yes, I'm a redneck with a liberal arts degree from IU, who is an atheist and a democratic socialist in favor of the decriminalization of drugs, prostitution, and all non-violent crime, as well as providing free higher education to all Americans. I also drive an eco-friendly, non-gas guzzling little car, and run an Internet business from my home. I'm such a redneck stereotype. :roll:

Just keep up your end of the deal and private message me when the sporting goods clearance hits 75% off. I want a new tent for camping...although I'm sure you think it's some sort of crime to enjoy our beautiful state parks.

Also, if you actually work at Target, how about contributing to the thread and maybe posting in the regional Indiana thread when your store has new clearance items?

I hear that. I was excited to find one clearanced at $25, much less $17. There must have been a backlog at some werehouse and the stock trickled down to a few stores. However it happened, I was glad to get one without having to resort to used or ebay.

If any of you see it out there, pick up three copies for me, please! And yes, I do actually need three copies. My friends and I all just picked up DS Lites through the recent GameStop/EB $50 SP trade-in deal and we're only now discovering how many great games have passed us by and are now OOP. If you ever see me selling those copies on eBay, you can come over and kick my ass.

Though, let's be honest, redneckism can occur regardless of political affiliation and leanings. Only one party has a KKK member in Congress.

Wow, when did this game get so rare? I just checked half.com for you to see if there were any cheap copies and the cheapest new copy is $40. There was a time 6 months ago when you couldn't give this game away for $15-20. I guess Nintendo let it go out of print...let's hope for a Player's Choice version. In the meantime, keep any eye on half.com. Sometimes if a bunch of copies of a game are found on clearance, half.com sellers that found the game on clearance start fighting each other to offer the lowest price, so the price shoots down dramatically. I couldn't find it on EB/Gamestop's website, but I believe it's $20-25 in-store if you can find it. Also, I believe Gamerush/Blockbuster sells it used for around $20.

Eh, I always though you had to like NASCAR and country music to be a true redneck. I personally can't stand spectator sports of any kind...if you call racing a sport. The only thing I can tell you about the Superbowl is that I hope the Colts lose. I'm mad at those rich bastards for raising our sales tax by 1% so they could pay for their new stadium. Let the millionaires pay for their own damn stadium. I wouldn't even have a problem with them raising taxes if the money was going to something worthwile.

Thanks for the advice on Half.com; I'll be sure to keep an eye out over there. Unfortunately, the game is very much gone from all stores in my area. And I'm talking about 40+ stores encompassing every major chain you can think of. To make matters worse, my local GameRush stores pretty much only sell That's So Raven and Lizzie McGuire's Homecoming Havoc. Tell me again why Randy Newman wrote "I Love L.A."
 
Yesterday at Target I found two games that got taken OFF of clearance and marked back to original price:

Diablo II (PC) Went from $4.98 to $19.99
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (PC) Went from $4.98 to $19.99

I picked up both at that same Target last week for $4.98 each, and yesterday I could see the sticker residue where they removed the red tag and I scanned them both and they registered at $19.99. Weird. Hope this isn't a trend.

Also, that massive stack of Tony Hawk P8 decks that went down to $22.44 were now all gone in a day.

Thus it is already down from the $55+ it was getting just a few weeks ago ;). The competition has already begun. I think it snuck up on everyone that this game was hard to find such that at first no one was selling it making it appear even more scarce. But then people uncovered lots of them and started selling them. I found a cart-only copy at GC and got it along with Magical Starsign for $24.99 total (Buy 1 Get 1 free coupon on used portable games). Totally worth it (playing MS now and it is fun, WarioWare Touched is going to my son for his birthday next week). I know there was one at my Target when I first noticed they were getting scarce. I went to get it (some time in early Jan) and it was gone. That was when people started buying them up. The used copy I had my eye on at GR for a FULL YEAR disappeared at the same time too!

:lol: at the fishing lures. I was at Target tonight and saw those - same clearance prices too. I thought about getting one because the kids would think they were cool after playing Zelda (the closest they've ever gotten to a lure). But then I realized they had nasty sharp hooks attached to them :rofl:.

I also saw Gunpey still sitting at my local Target from Monday (when I bought the other copy). Meh, it's been 5 days sitting there with the correct tag, so I snagged it for trade bait, whatever... I did notice that my returned Zelda CE (which was retagged at $19.98 and put back out) had sold. Also, all the $44.98 Tony Hawk boards were gone :whistle2:k

Anyway, some new items(?):

Some old baseball game from 2005 also $7.48

Makes sense on the NBA 06, since the PSP ones were the same prices, and also the NHL 06 and Gretzky NHL 06. All $7.48... I bought one of each ('cept the baseball game), though I really don't know why - they will all probably go back to the store eventually ;). OH, and I did see a Baten Kaitos for $9.98 today - don't know how I missed that before.

That is kind of wierd. I mean its not unheard of for Target to clearance out an item and then get it back in stock again at full price a few months down the road but for them to actually mark the clearanced item itself back up is really rare.

I saw some of these on the endcap near where they keep musical instruments which is usually near electronics. The last price was $99 (50% off 199)
 
picked up Genji: Dawn of the Samurai for 7.50, don't remember seeing this one in here.

Also scanned diablo 2 and the expansion and both were 20 bucks :(

I've looked for the Hello Kitty guitars at about 6 different Target stores and have yet to see one. Don't know if I'd buy one or not (probably not), but I was just curious to see what they look like. I'm thinking the stores around here never carried them because it doesn't seem that likely that they would have sold out at $200 a pop.

We clearanced out atleast 20 for $2.48 months ago and saw it yesterday for $19.99.
 
I don't understand why stores re-buy games they clearance out. I remember seeing Asphalt GT for $2.48 a while ago as well and if your store had over 20 and they had to be marked down to that price to sell, what is Target thinking re-ordering it? TRU, Best Buy and CC have done the same thing as well
 
Hit 5 Targets in my area today, all I picked up was one copy of Genji: Dawn of Samurai for $7.48, other than that, they were pretty much all cleaned out of anything worthwhile.

went to 4 targets thursday night and got One Piece Pirates carnival (GC & PS2) for 4.98.

Saw Burnout revenge (Xbox) for 4.98

All the Tony Hawk board/game combos were being pulled for salvage at 2 of the targets (Ann Arbor and Wixom, I believe) after their 44.xx markdown, so I'd suggest getting them before they disappear.
 
Is Animal Crossing DS on clearance? How much was it? I thought I read it but wasn't certain if it was at Target?

I thought it was the gamecube version that was on clearance since they seem to have really gone all out with getting rid of a lot of the gamecube players choice games.

Got Viewitulf Joe Double Trouble for DS for $4.98 today, there was one more copy...no idea where those copies came from as I have never seen the game at this Target period, and they just popped up in the clearance section.
 
I found a Karaoke Revolution 3 bundle (ps2 - don't know if it was made for anything else or not) yesterday for $30. I snatched it, since my wife wasn't happy that I traded our old copy off. ;) That may not be in the usual "super clearance" Target prices, but for that game it's a steal. :)

Thats how I feel when people still find Taiko Drum Master with drum at their Targets. Mine hasnt had that in years.

Believe me, I was just as shocked to see it there. The ironic thing is I was talking to a friend on the way over, telling him I had just received part 2 in from a trade here and that 3 was the one I really needed to find now. ;)

They also had some Neopets PS2 game for $10. I don't know anything about it, but it looked kinda interesting from the back so I figure if it drops to around $5 I may pick it up. They usually drop prices on Sunday, right?
